Sunday School is not what it once to be.
In the Old day - everyone had a SS class - Adults right down to the nursery.
Now days - some churches - will have SS for kids during the worship service
Some say that children under 5 go to the nursery - 5 and up sit in the Adulty SS class/morning worship
Some say that a female is not to teach SS with males in attendance
Some say that a female is not to teach boys who over 10 years of age.
Some say the Bible does not instruct us to have SS - so only morning worship
Some say.......

So how is SS (or lack thereof) happen in your church?
and any particular reasons......

At Calvary Baptist, Watertown, where we've retired, we have Sunday School (not CALLED Sunday School) at 9:15. All ages nursery to Senior Citizens, and all types of learning environments. Dozen choices for adults. About 350 attend.

No "classes" are live-streamed like the morning/evening/prayer meeting are each week. Since illness or preaching elsewhere keeps me away about 50% of Sundays, I miss this.

The.majority of churches I being too were Sunday School were before main worship service (Kids to Adult.) The younger kids would have kids church after worship was done and that contiune until the main service is over. Nursery is for the toddlers. I being to churches where there was no Sunday school and we just sat in the main service. Though every baptist church I went to had Sunday school or some sort of program for kids. Sunday school was divided between male and female. Kids church was more relaxed and for everyone. Being to man led kids church and female.

The church we founded did not have Sunday School per se. We had a 2+ hour unified service, We were family-centered so never had separate programs for children. Every week we gave a worksheet for the family for Bible Study. They were to study it together as their "Sunday school". Our families with K-8 children home schooled, so a typical SS class is not as important as learning to sit, sing, read, in corporate worship

That might be acceptable for kids in solid Christian homes.
But how about kids that come from non-Christian homes,
as well as non-discipled Christian homes.

Our church was designed as a safe haven for believers, for instruction, fellowship, worship, and the ordinances. If those believers came in without a Christian home, they were "adopted" by an elder for spiritual oversight and teaching. It was a privilege to minister as surrogate.

We also did this with college students who had left good families/churches and come to our city, and with "fatherless" homes (widows, unmarried women, etc) to give male spiritual leadership. Joy of small "house-church" mentality contrasted to the big box churches.
