Orthodoxy

Orthodoxy refers to the generally accept view or views that people believe are correct. Thus Reformed Baptists have a set of their orthodox view, such as the TULIP, and other branches of Christianity have a differing orthodoxy.

I certainly have views that do not mesh with the Calvinists or Arminians or Easy Believism folks, and on and on.

So the question is, why do people make God's word to no effect. That certainly is not their goal.

First, please read Matthew 15:2, then Matthew 15:3, then Matthew 15:6, then Mark 7:8-9, then Mark 7:13, then Colossians 2:8 and then 2 Thessalonians 3:6.

The idea is that "experts" interpret God's word in ways that differ from the "traditions" established by Christ and His apostles.

What are some of the generally accepted invalid orthodox views of the past?

1) Infant baptism

2) Baptismal regeneration

3) Transubstantiation

Our last question, our food for thought is this, have we reexamined our beliefs that we accepted from parents, teachers or mentors, to guard against accepting the mistaken views of the past?

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

For many, those three items are still orthodox views
Right, the body of Christ is riddled with folks who do not show themselves approved, rightly dividing or correctly handling the word of truth.

Nicodemus did not understand that we must be spiritually born anew, to enter the kingdom of God.

Many today do not realize God must credit our faith as righteousness in order to be saved.

Or they believe "tasso" refers to a unilateral assignment rather than a mutual agreement.

Or they believe foreknowledge refers to foreseeing the future.

If we just sit in our pews, or worse in from of our computers, and accept the "experts" we will be led astray. We are supposed to study, meditate, devour God's word, and if we are not being diligent, we may be making God's word to no effect.

Some is interpretation. For example Acts 2:38 states "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized... for the remission of sins..." Thus the Church of Christ believes in baptismal regeneration.
