PBTW, I fully support the majority of Anglican jurisdictions who are rightfully standing up for Jesus in separation from the present liberal minority which the newly elected Archbishop of Canterbury is a product of. Clearly it is time for biblically sound Anglicans to be guided by something other than social norms of the UK and the misguided but very much in the minority Church of England.
You won't be surprised to learn that I would re-name this thread to read, "A denomination founded upon the Bible is foundering without the Bible."
I know some of the people involved with AMiE, the 'Anglican Mission in Europe' which is part of GAFCON.They are fine Christian people, but I encourage them to take a further step and finish with all the vicars, priests, archbishops, deans, archdeacons and the other non-Biblical baggage of episcopalianism.
The minister of the largest Anglican church in Plymouth, Devon, has recently resigned his position and is now busy establishing an independent evangelical church. This sort of thing is happening in other areas, but it doesn't get the same publicity
Ouch!Ahem...
The Anglican Church in North America — a denomination founded in 2009 by breaking away from the Episcopal Church — is now facing its own splintering.
"Its archbishop (Wood) is suspended and facing trial. Its chaplaincy bishop (Jones) has formed a rival denomination and is suing the church"
"Bishop Derek Jones, the embattled leader of the Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy, has launched a new denomination to be called the Anglican Reformed Catholic Church."
"This move formalizes the threat Jones made in late September when he filed a $1 million lawsuit against the ACNA after being 'inhibited' (suspended) by Archbishop Steve Wood. Jones had accused the ACNA of a 'hostile corporate takeover' of his chaplaincy jurisdiction."
"[Archbishop Steve] Wood was placed on a voluntary leave of absence in November following allegations of sexual misconduct, bullying and plagiarism. On Dec. 12, a Board of Inquiry found 'probable cause' to present Wood for a church trial on charges including sexual immorality and conduct giving just cause for scandal."
