The Lie of Deep Time
Scripture presents a consistent pattern in the way God creates, restores, and reveals His works. The pattern is simple. God produces fully mature, fully functional results instantly, without the passage of time. This pattern appears in creation, in miracles, and in the resurrection of Christ. It stands in direct contradiction to the deep time model, which requires long ages of gradual development. The testimony of Scripture is clear. God does not need time to accomplish His purposes. He speaks, and it is done. He commands, and it stands fast.
The creation of Adam and Eve is the first and clearest example. Genesis 2 verse 7 says, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2 verse 22 says, “And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.” Adam speaks, reasons, names the animals, and receives commands from God. Eve is created as a helper suitable for him. Their actual age was minutes. Their appearance was decades. Scripture does not present a slow development from infancy. It presents instantaneous maturity.
The Garden of Eden shows the same pattern. Genesis 2 verse 8 says, “And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.” Verse 9 continues, “And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food.” These were mature fruit bearing trees, not saplings. Their actual age was newly created. Their appearance was years of growth. God created a fully functioning ecosystem in a moment.
The animals were created the same way. Genesis 1 verses 24 and 25 say, “And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth after his kind, and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind.” They appear instantly, ready to function and reproduce. Their actual age was moments. Their appearance was full maturity.
The miracle at Cana follows the same pattern. In John 2 verses 7 through 10 we read, “Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was, but the servants which drew the water knew, the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, and saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine, and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse, but thou hast kept the good wine until now.” Jesus created fresh, unfermented wine, yet it possessed the full qualities of mature wine. Its actual age was seconds. Its appearance was fully developed wine. This was instantaneous maturity without process.
The creation of the sun, moon, and stars shows the same truth. Genesis 1 verses 14 through 18 say, “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years, and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, and it was so. And God made two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night, he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth.” For stars to give light on the earth, physical light must already be present. This is instantaneous cosmic maturity.
Scripture also says repeatedly that God stretched out the heavens. Psalm 104 verse 2 says, “Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment, who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain.” Isaiah 40 verse 22 says, “It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers, that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.” Isaiah 42 verse 5 says, “Thus saith God the Lord, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out.” Isaiah 44 verse 24 says, “I am the Lord that maketh all things, that stretcheth forth the heavens alone.” Isaiah 45 verse 12 says, “I have made the earth, and created man upon it, my hands have stretched out the heavens.” Jeremiah 10 verse 12 says, “He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.” This is dynamic, immediate expansion, not billions of years of naturalistic growth. It directly addresses the light travel problem. Light does not require deep time if God stretched out the heavens.
The earth itself shows the same pattern. Genesis 1 verses 9 through 12 say, “And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear, and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas, and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth, and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind, and God saw that it was good.” Dry land appears instantly. Vegetation appears instantly. Fruit bearing plants appear instantly. This is ecological maturity without naturalistic development.
The manna in Exodus 16 follows the same principle. Exodus 16 verse 14 says, “And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground.” Verse 31 says, “And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna, and it was like coriander seed, white, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.” It appeared each morning with the characteristics of grain, flour, and a bread like substance. It was created instantly with the appearance of processing.
The resurrection of Christ reveals the same truth in redemptive form. Christ was eternally perfect, sinless, and undefiled. His body did not see corruption because He bore our sins yet without sin. Acts 2 verse 27 says, “Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.” In rising, He instantly fulfilled His eternal purposes for humanity in completing the sacrifice. His resurrection did not make Him perfect. It manifested His perfection in an incorruptible form without the passage of time. He was not yet glorified until He ascended and presented Himself to the Father. John 20 verse 17 says, “Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not, for I am not yet ascended to my Father.” Hebrews 9 verse 12 says, “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” The resurrection itself shows the biblical pattern. God reveals fully complete results instantly.
Some accept the miracles of God, such as the virgin birth, the healing of the sick, and the resurrection of Christ, yet deny that He has the power to create a mature creation instantly. Scripture does not permit that division. The God who formed Adam from the dust in a moment, who filled the Garden with fruit in a moment, who made fresh wine in a moment, and who raised His Son in a moment, is the same God who created the heavens and the earth. His works are perfect, complete, and fully functional from the moment He performs them.
Deep time is not required for the Creator. It is only required for a worldview that has forgotten Him. The testimony of Scripture is clear. God creates by command, not by ages. He speaks, and it is done. He commands, and it stands fast.

Conclusion
Deep time is incompatible with revealed Scripture. The Bible presents a God who creates instantly, perfectly, and fully mature from the moment He speaks. Adam and Eve were created as adults. The Garden was created in full fruit. The animals appeared ready to function. The stars gave light immediately. The heavens were stretched out by divine act. The earth brought forth vegetation at once. Manna appeared each morning already formed. Christ rose in incorruption, instantly fulfilling His eternal purposes for humanity. None of these works required long ages. All of them reveal the same pattern. God does not need time to accomplish His will.
