Other than the Mariners (currently 62-68) I don't follow baseball much. Is there something

The CBA expires in December, iirc, and the owners are expected to lock out the players. Owners want a salary cap, players don’t. I don’t think either side will concede for a long while. 2027 season is in jeopardy imo.

No. The World Baseball Classic fills that spot.

Also good to note that that it is much easier to make the playoffs nowadays; prior to 1969 only two teams made the playoffs, the winners of the two leagues, the National League and the American League. It has increased over time so that now 12 teams make the playoffs, 6 in each league.

I'll weigh in on this. I've seen many Japanese ball games, been in four or five stadiums there. We used to say that Japanese ball was on a Triple A level. If there is any one team that could compete with MLB it would be the Tokyo Giants. They have the nicest stadium in Japan to attract players, and the most money to hire them. They've won more NPB (Nippon Professional Baseball) championships than any other team, and are always a contender. However, they are not usually World Series level. I'd be surprised if they could win this year. Also, the Giants have produced most of the most awesome stars: Nakajima, Oh Sadaharu, Matsui Hideki, etc. Of course Nomo and Ichiro were not from the Giants.

Now an all star team from Japan would be very powerful, if they used the current MLB players from there.

As for the post season, Milwaukee will beat the Braves for the NL. Other than that, I'm not knowledgeable enough.
