Amen, Roger. There are so many words from the old hymns that stay in my heart, and sometimes run with the melody through my mind. Deliver me from those 7/11 choruses (7 words 11 times)!

    2. To the ushers crew, "Don't forget a row, you never know who is going to drop the thousand dollar check in the plate."</font>
    3. "Remember, boys, God can talk to your deacons as well as you. If He lays something on your heart, but hasn't done the same on theirs, it probably isn't the right time to impliment the project."</font>
The first is apocryphally attributed to B. Myron Cedarholm. However, I heard the second from Papa Doc. The third one comes from Richard Weeks in Church Admin class.

I love that one Lacy---I'm going to use it on my own kids!!

"Busy hands are happy hands"--I don't know who said it first, but I heard it from my dad.

"The greatest ability is dependability" Dr. Bob Jones Sr.--That one has meant so much to me as I am one of these people who can do a lot of things, but there isn't anything I'm really good at. I can be dependable though.

Oops! Did I get my quote wrong? Well, I was close--both are from the south and I had the word ability in there! :D

No, I was right! (for once) [IMG] I just looked it up! So, who was right; Bob Jones Sr. or Lee Robertson? Is dependability or availability the greatest ability? How about if we combine them. The greatest ability is dependable availability. Or: The greatest ability is available dependability. *sigh* I think I'd better go peel potatoes! [IMG]

"I preached as never sure to preach again, And as a dying man to dying men."
    -Richard Baxter

    "Help, O God, my weak endeavor;
This dull soul to rapture raise:
Thou must light the flame, or never
Can my love be warmed to praise."
-Francis Scott Key (yes the same one who wrote our national anthem)

“Resolution One: I will live for God. Resolution Two: If no one else does, I still will.”
    -Jonathan Edwards

And I could add many more. Thank God for graciously gving us men and women to impact our lives with His goodness, grace and glory.

"What you are in secret you will one day shout aloud from the housetop." -? (doesn't matter who said it- one of the most powerful, awesome, terrifying statements I have ever heard)

    "Come to Jesus"- Dr. Rogers

"Have the heart of a dove and the hide of a rhinocerous." Dr. Charles Page to seminary students at SEBTS

"Tell them if they vote for you (Pedro) all of their dreams will come true."- Napolean Dynamite

This is from the Valley of Vision- a collection of Puritan prayers. I just ordered a leather bound copy to use during my private devotions, its is an excellent, God exalting collection that delights the heart.

"Lord, high and holy, meek and lowly, Thou hast brought me to the valley of vision, where I live in the depths but see Thee in the heights; hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold Thy glory. Let me learn by paradox that the way down is the way up, that to be low is to be high, that the broken heart is the healed heart, that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit, that the repenting soul is the victorious soul, that to have nothing is to possess all, that to bear the cross is to wear the crown, that to give is to receive, that the valley is the place of vision. Lord, in the daytime stars can be seen from deepest wells, and the deeper the wells the brighter Thy stars shine; let me find Thy light in my darkness, Thy life in my death, Thy joy in my sorrow, Thy grace in my sin, Thy riches in my poverty, Thy glory in my valley."

Not sure who came up with this one...probably that great sage Anonymous:

"It's better to put a guard rail at the top of a great cliff than to build a hospital at the bottom of it."
