I was very excited to see they added a few different preachers to the lineup. I am eager to hear the messages by Tommy Steele and Joe Arthur. And of course if Bro. Lou Baldwin preaches in the same manner as his son...it will be quite a sermon!

I also hope that Bro. Bobby Roberson will be well enough to preach this year... He is in need of many prayers.

If you ever want to make ol' Sheldon Smith squawk like rooster, walk up to him and ask him, "under what Church authority does your newspaper exist"? If he says "under the authority of God" you kindly inform him, that his paper is a ministry unto itself, unlike the Plains Baptist Challenger, man, he'll go into a range and call you a hair splitter and a brider, it's quite the funny sight.

However, it is true. ANY ministry that operates OUTSIDE of a local Church authority, is a ministry unto itself. Paul had anthority from Antioch, which had one from Jerusalem.

It's in the Bible. Look it up.

    :D

and Besides, doesn't the Bible say that a Women should keep silent?

Oh, come on, WinDork. The SOTL "apostate?" This is a ridiculous charge. The "Sword" stands firm on all of the fundamental doctrines. Apostates abandon the fundamental doctrines. If you disagree, and have your own private definition of apostate, then start another thread and prove it instead of derailing IFBChristian's thread. I'll gladly meet you there. Enough said.

And now back to the regularly scheduled topic. Wish I could go. You think they could hold it in Japan someday? Nah, probably not. :(

John, The FACTS are that the "Sword Of the Lord" Operates as a ministry unto itself, it does NOT operate under the auspices and authority of a Local Church. This is a historic Baptist Doctrine that was abandoned years ago, because people felt it to be too constraining. anyone that wants to know about this, read the Plains Baptist Challeger and/or The Baptist Pillar out of Canada.

and That's the Facts. Sorry if you can't deal with them.

Uh, I think you're a little out of line, WinDork. Maybe YOU should think about practicing what you preach in the matter of silence.....

Again, WinDork, as I stated in the other thread, a Christian Newspaper is in no wise obligated to work under tha auspices of a NT church. You've tried several times to take this thread off track. If you continue in this course of action, I will report the post. Though I'm not a fan of the Sword or Shelton Smith (and FBCPastorsWife can verify this wholly), this thread is for those who would like to discuss the conference. Leave it be.

I would go and enjoy the preaching but last time I went most (but not all!) of the folks there treated me like a leper. Must have been the 'BBFI' on my prayer cards.

LOL, that could be, Mexdeaf! I've heard many say the same thing. did they have a signer for the deaf there? I now many times these organizations don't. Though I'm rusty on my sign language, sometimes I wish they had one so that I could know what was being said.

Yes, they did have an interpreter there. Wasn't many deaf there, about 5- if I remember right, but we got along fine. Like I said, I really did enjoy it, just was sad that some folks acted different toward me because of my 'affiliation'.

To put my oar in the water, yes, this theard is about the Conference. One can accurately call the Sword of the Lord many things. However, to call it apostate is more than a bit hyperbolic. In fact, terming the SotL apostate obscures publications and organizations the really are apostate (mind you, said pubs and orgs are topics for another thread altogether).

For someone who claims to be so concerned about the local church you dont seem to be concerned about chopping up the Scripture here. The Bible does not say that women should keep silent on the BB. You might be funny if you weren't so SNIP

But is typing really 'talking'? So biblical or not unless a woman (or whomever) talks out loud as they type then they are "being silent" ...hahaha [IMG]

    Sorry I couldn't resist [IMG]
