Okay, we all know that no one knows when Christ will return, and that it could be at any moment so we should live our lives with that expectation. But I get a definite feeling that most people believe the time is very very near, and that this is just clear from events in history, etc. So, I just want to get a feeling from everybody out there. With no consideration for your eschotogy (meaning, the first return of Christ be it the rapture of his second coming), what is your feeling for when the end is here.

I feel the end is near when my end is... Since I won't last 100 years then number two is my choice. Then again I might not last another 15 years?... Brother Glen :D

When a person dies, it is the end of the world for him.

I have no interest in placing God in a box based on my own limited understanding. Since the angels in heaven don't know, I'm not about to try and guess. [IMG]

Matthew 24:36  But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37  But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39  And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Sounds like we should know or be aware of the times, though, eh?

How can we know what God's timetable is? The answer is we can't. We can look at Prophecy and say such and such has happened, and such and such is next, but who is to say God hasn't placed a 10,000 year space between one event and the next.

This forum really needs an eschatology section. [IMG]

... Ok pick any generation where they were not doing what you refered to!... There is no sign!... Brother Glen [IMG] </font>[/QUOTE]Sorry but I didn't claim this was a sign. It is Jesus speaking of those that refused to look around them and listen to the Word. Seems 8 people knew what was coming.
I didn't refer to it anyway - Jesus did.
I'm ready if He comes in my lifetime or not.

Note that Jesus didn't say "no one will know the day" (future tense) but "no one knows the day" (present tense in translation, perfect tense in Greek).

I don't believe the Bible says Jesus can come to gather us together at any moment, but even says the opposite (2 Thessalonians 2:1-8, compare Matthew 24:29-31).

I can't pull the scripture, right now, but didn't Paul expect the return of Christ in his lifetime ?

I he did "those of us who are still living" that would seem to imply himself as well, but I think that was just the universal us and not nessisarily himself. Indeed, he definitly thought he was going to die soon! But many Biblical authors stress that the time is short (Paul in 1 Corinthians 7) and even Jesus said he was going to come soon. It seems that God's soon and our soon is off by at least 2000 years and maybe more.
