Thus committing homosexual acts is also a sin despite how much you want to deny it. What was that verse again. Ah yes Rom chp 8:7 "because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.'

And this is exactly what you are trying to promote. Accept it- God has given us the power to overcome the sins of the flesh through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit so we are expected when we are told that this is a sin through Gods word to submitt ouselves to God to help us do away with this evil.

Post-It,

Ok....so I really know whats going on...Are you homosexual, or are you just defending the idea of homosexuality? I know that when it comes to this topic you are always trying to make a way for it.

History can't be wrong. All these people cannot be wrong. Gods Word cannot be wrong.

You are constantly saying you can know Jesus Christ and be homosexual. Thats like saying I am saved, and a prostitute. It is not possible. Or I am saved yet my profession is I am a Cat burglar. You cannot be both ways.

When we accept Jesus Christ we take on a new body. We live in Jesus, and Him in us. The old body is dead. It is full of lust, lies and deceit. It rebels against God, and is corrupt and wicked. But Jesus body is alive. It is perfect and pure. We take on the new ways. We can no longer be partners with the old way.

Yes I know that the old body is still here. And Satan fights with us daily to lust (not talking about just sexual) with the old body. But that which is New convicts and teaches us what is right and wrong.

Romans Chapter 1, is not just talking about idols. It clearly states the fact.

Since from the very beginning homosexuality has been wrong. In Genesis...God created man, and then woman. Ephesians 5:31-33 Speaks of the wife as a woman.

I think that you are truly not a child of God. I think you are a very knowledgeable person. You know alot of facts. And you know how to twist facts. You are not listening to Gods Word. And it is obvious He is talking to you. You are rebellous and your words are corrupt. And you deliberately choose to be that way. I think your heart is hard. I also think you are saying you want to accept Jesus Christ, but it has to be on your terms. And God is clearly saying He cannot abide by your terms. He is in control. I think you need help.

You need to let Gods Word soak in. Instead of knowing all the Words, you need to know God intimately. You need to let God into your life.

This is a remarkably strong statement, and one that I think is wholly indefensible. The debate over homosexuality, is ultimately a very minor one of biblical interpretation. It's one I feel strongly about, buy I will not deny someone's relationship with God because they disagree with me.

I can't help but think of all of the God-fearing, pious, baptist slaveholders who - according to your logic - are burning in Hell because they couldn't conceive of a biblical interpretation that viewed African Americans as people, or that criticized slavery. Were they children of God? Yes. Were they flawed and fallible children? Certainly.

I'm not homosexual, I'm heterosexual, married for 13 happy years. But do I know homosexuals? Yes. The first homosexual I knew, I didn't really know he was. He was in my Boy Scout troop back in the early 70's. I found out he was gay through rumors at school, then 3 days later he put a shot-gun barrel into his mouth and blew his brains all over the place. Seems he knew he wouldn't be able to take the rejection he was about, or did encounter with his own family. From there the gays and lesbians I met learned to live in their own world since our world rejects them as normal. Attitude is the only thing that creates this hell they live in.

Not only can it be wrong, it is often wrong.
One sure way of making a killing on wall street is to do the opposite of what "all the people" decide is the right thing to do.
Well, certainly interpretation of his word has been wrong in the past, and is wrong today, and will be wrong in the future.

You will find it hard to defend that assumption with scripture. You will find it impossible to defend it with your own life as an example. If you continue to do any sin, now that you are a Christian, then you have failed to make your argument true.

The word body is often confused with the word spirit. It is obvious that you don't get a new body, a drunk can be saved and he may still continue to drink because of his body. His spirit and mind know it is not right, but the battle is with the flesh. Even Paul could not defeat it. We all will continue in some sin. Other sin can be taken completely away, yet there is always some flesh weakness that will overcome. If this was not the case, we would not need the Holy Spirit. We could just lead perfect lives until our death.

Paul also knew what was right and wrong and he continued to do what he knew he shouldn't. And don't jump on me by saying I'm claiming that it is ok to sin, I'm not saying that, I'm saying that we will sin despite the fact we don't want to.

There is very little that is clear about Romans 1. Can you explain the bird Idol or what 4 legged beast is Paul talking about. Clear? Not really, he could have been clearer than he was, he could have given us a lesson that didn't involve Idol worshipping as his lead in for describing a group that seem to be only around for a moment in history. Can one project that group on larger segments of the world? Yes, but they may be wrong since that is not what Paul was literally talking about here.

Many things were wrong from the beginning. A man cutting his sideburns or beard was a sin at one time. Many Orthodox Jews still hold this belief today.
I only know that no matter how far a person is in any direction away from my belief, I could not possible have the knowledge to know for sure if he was or wasn't a child of God. We won't really know until we meet him in person. I'll really be upset if the Muslims were right. I have faith that we are right, but none of us have knowledge we are right.

I only hear this line when a person not in agreement with another is at issue. It really is a meaningless phrase when used on Christians, it comes from scripture when speaking of an atheist or Idol worshipping. That is the only proper time it should be used.
I've been working on this for about 30 years, what hasn't soaked in most likely won't soak in quickly anymore. The Holy Spirit does affect changes in me still. I hope you are still open for some changes too.

Thanks for your concern Sherrie, I know you mean well in your posts.

I can't help but think of all the God fearing? baptist? homosexuals who are burning in hell because well meaning but misguided baptist pastors have taught them to believe that their CHOSEN lifestyle is not sin and that they need not look to the Lord for forgiveness from that lifestyle nor change their sinful ways.

Concerning slavery I cannot defend them because they had no scripture to prove their view. Also a slave was a slave not by choice but by force, this is not the case with homosexuals.

Post-it!

Your method of interpretating scripture and theology is as dangerous as letting a chimp drive Al Unser's race car! You can't even get under conviction that you are dead wrong about the filth and perversion of homosexuality--Now, that doesn't make you a lost person to believe like you do--I'm not saying that--what I am saying is--you are going to heaven believing wrong about homosexuality! So, why don't you be a good boy and hand the keys to the race car over to our friends here who are right?

Your friend,

"Yes, Let us decide what you should believe... We're always right."

Murph, I am a pious, prayerful, trained, studious baptist minister. My prayerful study of the Bible and related historical and theological material is what lead me from the belief that homosexuality is intrinsically sinful to the belief that it is not. There are many baptist ministers in this category, and I encourage people with questions (particularly lurkers) to read widely and prayerfully on the subject.

Oh for petes sake!

We are not talking about the Pope. We are talking about vile, nasty, lustful acts of mans old nature. Or in the case of a homosexual now, his/her vile lustful, nature now.

Anything that does not set its eyes on God is Fornication! Is Adultry.

Anything that rebels against God is sin. Either you are for God or your not! There are no inbetweens.

Homosexuality is an act against Gods nature. For a Man or Woman. Gay or Lesbian. It is evil.

We are not just talking a Baptist Preachers opinion here! Or one where we are brain washed into believing. But we are stating God says it is wrong. You have had plenty of scripture given to you, and each time it is only according to your way of thinking. 4000 plus or minus people who look on this board everyday according to you are wrong.

Even the laws that man has made, say homosexuality is wrong. Will you argue that fact, or even the fact that God has appointed Judges and Kings to watch over men/women.

Wife means a woman. Husband means a man. Only when 1 man is united with 1 woman can a marriage take place, and only then is sexual behavior to begin. It is a union brought together by God. So Post-it, there is no place for your ideas.

You cannot accept Jesus christ on your terms! You cannot make it happen your way! YOU CANNOT BE CHILD OF GOD AND BE HOMOSEXUAL! That is as clear as it gets.

But I will concider your comments to be a man out of desperation, and know that you were not thinking clearly. I know you meant me no personal harm.

Well said! And I might add a Fool.
The scary part is how many will follow him as this board allows him to spew this unbiblical garbage.

Scary? I find people who cause our homosexual brothers and sisters to stumble, due to your own error in interpretation and understanding of Christ's message very scary.

Some of you are very scary!

</font>
Your powerful study of the Bible: do you happen to own some "new age" bible?

You're "pious"? Isn't that a term often used by Catholic bishops and popes?

I would be careful how I describe myself "Your Majesty". To me, it sounds as if you are getting very close to having a problem with vanity too.

Seriously, do you honestly believe the Holy Bible is the literal word of God or do you have reservations?

Secondly, why have you not responded to my statement regarding Leviticus 20:13 for instance where it says: "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them hav committed an abomination:"

The interesting thing is that it is mixed with other things we still hold as "very wrong" such as sleeping with your mother, your sister, or sleeping with beasts". So much for the argument that this is just old law that does not apply today. Jesus said he was here to fulfill the law not to destroy it. Post_it, both you and Rev. Joshua--I would like to hear how you explain those passages in the Bible away short of saying the Bible is not literal---if that is the case, then we have a far deeper problem on our hands.

I find it very interesting that this is a "Baptist Theology & Bible Study" subject and I have quoted scripture at least twice where it condemns the sin of homosexuality and nobody has told me why they don't interpret it that way. If this is just a debate to call names--forget it. I want to know how a Baptist minister can ignore these scriptures without making the Bible "wrong" in certain places?

I am curious too! As I have several times responded to the post with scripture and they either want to blow me off, or tell me my scripture doesn't count. I never seem to refer to the correct scripture when it comes to this. I am wonder what would be the correct scripture? I am really curious. They wont blow you off like they do me. Your a man. So I will look toward a response from someone, about your post.

Post it, you really need to read Romans chapter one. You are really decieved if you think that homosexual marriages are okey. Please don't add to or take away from the scriptures. Read Romans 1

Many people think that they are hearing the Holy Spirit, when in essence it is only the lies of Satan. [IMG]

I really would like to know how Joshua, you can be a Sheperd for Gods people, and write some of the things you do?

You should be very careful about the things you write that influence other people. You are suppose to be a leader. A person God has trusted to help keep His flock together.

Things that you write are twisted.

AMEN!!! Sherrie, I totally agree. Josh is seminary trained though and may also be deceived into thinking that homosexuality is acceptable. Many seminaries take the "humanistic" approach to training their "sinister ministers".

We are surrounded by wolves in sheeps clothing.
