I attend a sbc,but think I may "fit" the teaching of a IFB church or a just plain Bible Church. :D

Independent Fundamental Baptist, very Hyles-oriented but with at least one major difference: a pastor who strongly believes in and practices expository preaching. (I'm told this is fairly unusual in IFB circles, and I've read Dr. Hyles own words strongly condemning expository preaching.)

I should note: I "married into" this church, but was actually raised from birth in the Baptist Bible Fellowship.

I have heard this expressed before but tend to believe it may not be all that accurate. It is true that among a very narrow segment of IFBs expository preaching seems to be rather rare, but among the historic IFBs it is, in my experience, the norm. It is unfortunate that some of the very narrow representitives of the IFBs consider all others to be closet liberals and apostates. :D

My historic IFB roots date back to about 1920, while the BBF dates to 1950 and Hyles to about 1955. It seems to me that the historic IFB mainstream, which predates either the BBF or Hyles type of IFB is the original, and the others are later, somewhat flawed, copies. [IMG] :D

I am an Independant, Fundamentalist. Baptistic in belief. Around here the Hyles IF has a reputation for being dogmatic but then again I enjoy much of what I hear and read in that circle (Bill Rice Ranch) and agree with many of his positions.

Just recently joined an IFB after pretty much skipping church altogether for 15 years. Was raised Southern Baptist. I blame the Air Force for my long disappearance from church but really have noone to blame but myself.

I praise the Lord for his longsuffering with me!

I feel like I am on my way back, but it is difficult somedays and what do I do on my TDYS (travels) as I have Korea, Alaska, VA, Las Vegas (on the strip), Guam, and Japan on the horizon for this year.........it can get tough!

    Mahalo!

I was saved in a moderate SBC church when I was nine. I attend a moderate-conservative SBC church now. I love my Church Arapahoe Baptist Church. And I am very proud of our state convention (BGCT). I find myself tollerating the SBC.

    Hi guys,
I am a fundamental, Bible-believing, Southern Baptist who loves the Lord.

Iyam Baptist to the bone, with Christ in my heart!

I adhere to 7 basic fundamentals:
    1. Divine creation.
    2. Scripture's verbal inspiration, and inerrancy.
    3. The virgin birth of Christ.
    4. The deity of Christ.
    5. Substitutionary atonement.
    6. Christ's bodily resurrection & physical return.
    7. A literal heaven & hell.

    In Christ,
    Mike

I'm an Unaffiliated (which is truly Independent / not part of any alliance, association, convention, fellowship, or other unscriptural denominator)Baptist. I first heard the gospel after joining the service. I sure am glad the guy that led me to the Lord wasn't struggling or backsliding when I was in need of his faithful testimony & gospel witness. May I encourage you military members to get/stay right with God and do likewise. The military is a great mission field. Be strong & of good courage. I used to be Catholic (the universal visible church). After being a part of that hierarchy, I sure appreciate what the Bible teaches about the autonomy of a local church. Why affiliate yourself into compromise? I was served several SBC meals after major flooding in Grand Forks, ND in 1997. I never received a gospel tract or witness from those kind people, but I did give several out. "Lord, Lord did we not serve many hot meals in thy name... " Hello Ernie & Dr. Tom

The People's Church: Franklin, TN - First Baptist Church (The People's Church) is a Southern Baptist Congregation and Willow Creek Association Member.

It seems that he is a Baptist, sort of. [IMG]

Started out SBC. Now I am amillenialist (reject the Revelation of John as "divisive" -- IMO it shouldn't have been added to canon in 350 AD). I'm somewhere to the right of Alliance of Baptists and somewhere to the left of CBF.
