The Rev. Jerry Falwell will call Islam’s founder and most sacred figure, Mohammed, "a terrorist" on 60 MINUTES this Sunday night, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

“I think Mohammed was a terrorist. I read enough…by both Muslims and non-Muslims, [to decide] that he was a violent man, a man of war,” Falwell tells CBS. “In my opinion…Jesus set the example for love, as did Moses, and I think Mohammed set an opposite example.”

But, according to Rev Falwell, Muslims weren't responsible for the terrorist attacks of 9-11, gays and lesbians were.

WHAT ACTS OF TERRORISUM DID HE COMITT!? {Oh my!)
Forgive me if sound narrow minded, {Heavy sarcasum intended} but Mohamad brought that false relegion of Islam into the world, did he not!? A relegion that, because people put their faith in, have perished and gone to hell. Mohamed is not a Saviour! Jesus Christ is! Bringing a false relegion in is even worse because it just helps the devil in his work. Sends more people to an eternity of suffering. That's what terrible act he commited!
Muslims serve a dead "god", and we serve a risen, alive one!
To put it simply, MOHAMED WAS A LIAR WHO SPREAD FALSE DOCTRINE! And I applaud Mr. Falwell's statement, even thought I usually don't agree with him, this time he hit the nail on the head.
    ~Abby
PS, I don't know how to spell "Mohamed" so please over look it's incorrectness in spelling.

So every non-Christian (Christian by your definition) is a terrorist?

Mr. Falwell is supposed to say:

"'I think Mohammed was a terrorist. I read enough…by both Muslims and non-Muslims, [to decide] that he was a violent man, a man of war,' Falwell tells CBS. 'In my opinion…Jesus set the example for love, as did Moses, and I think Mohammed set an opposite example.'"

Wait a minute here? Moses was not "a man of war"? I wonder which Bible Mr. Falwell is reading! The "New Pacifist Version" or something?

If being a "man of war" automaticaly excludes one from being godly, then neither Moses, Joshua, Caleb, Jeptha, Samson, Barak, David, Jehoshaphat, Hezekiah, a host of other saints, or the Lord himself are godly, for,

"The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name" (Exodus 15:3).

No, Mohammed's problems was not that he was a "man of war." He problem was that he was fighting on the losing side!

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war" ( Revelation 19:11).

I don't disrespect Rev Falwell, but I personally feel he has done more to drive people away from Christ than to bring people near him. The ends does not justify the means.

I don't think his statement is an example of WWJD.

It's called backbone. ;) </font>[/QUOTE]If Jerry had backbone, he wouldn't have backed down the way he did (while trying to blame Robertson) after his post 9/11 statements.

Further, if this statement from the Atlanta Journal Constitution is true ("Falwell stood by his opinion in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. He said Simon asked directly whether Falwell considered Muhammad a terrorist and he tried to reply honestly. The minister said he would never state his opinion in a sermon or book.") then Falwell hasn't had a backbone for some time.

Mohammad spread Islam at the point of the sword. This is the way it was, he would show up outside your city or village with his army and say, "Convert to Islam or die." That is terrorism. Did European Christians do the same type of thing during the Crusades? Yes, and they were wrong as well.

As far as Dr. Falwell's statements following 9-11: You all know full well that he meant that the sinful actions that have been embraced by this nation as acceptable have caused God to judge us and that God saw fit to use the terrorist actions of 9-11 to deliver a wake up call to this nation. I know that Dr. Falwell did not express his meaning as well as we would have liked but that happens when you are a public figure and in the heat of discussion. Give him a break. He is speaking out for the cause of Christ after all.

Didn't that happen frequently in the Old Testament? Only often, they weren't given the choice to convert. Was Joshua a terrorist?

I Don't care for The Rev. Jerry Falwell as a leader. He has a tendency of running off the mouth, sometimes taking a bad situation and making it worse. A lot of the time I don't think he is acting in God's behalf, but on behalf of Jerry Falwell.

    Sherrie:

I concur with your statement. However, I have to give him some credit for taking a (partial) stand [see what Bro. Jonathan posted]. Something we all need to remember is that we are living in a world, and in a nation, that is growing increasingly more intolerant of the Gospel. We must remember that the Gospel is an offense and foolishness to those who are perishing (1 Cor. 1). Stand tall, stand strong, for Christ. If His Gospel is the offense, so be it. May WE not be the offense by being offensive.

This is simply poor Great Commission logic wrapped up in a desire to defend the loose comments of one of our Baptist statesmen. If an Islam, pointing to Jesus' actions in clearing out the temple, called Him a terrorist...or referred to Christianity, as a whole, as an evil and terroristic relgion because of the Crusades...there would be an unending source of outrage here.

The most ridiculous part about calling MO a terrorist is that it doesn't further any of our Christian aims (perhaps that's why Falwell wouldn't use such language from his own pulpit?). Falwell hasn't done any cutting edge missionary work for so long that he has forgotten the difficulty that such silly, chest thumping, preaching to the choir bravado type statements do to those Christians who are hanging it out in muslim nations under constant threat of the sword.

Jerry's comment was ridiculous then and more ridiculous now. Do any of us actually believe that the sin that this nation has been into for its entire existance only got to the level of judgement in 2001?

When you are a public figure who has been followed by cameras and microphones for as long as Jerry has, you tend to know better than to not guard your tongue. To cut Jerry slack on this one is to admit that he is way beyond his ability to communicate publicly. Conservative Christian leaders have done this great man a disserve by not taking him aside and thrashing him when he does stupid, publicity seeking things like this.

He usually does speak out for the cause of Christ. But in these two instances, he was likely speaking out for the cause of Jerry (gotta find a way to produce some more $30 video tapes) and it has backfired.

This kind of speeches does not help,it will add more hate to christians from muslims, and it won't bring muslims to jesus.
it will also affect the christians living in muslim countries, the question is :
if mohammed was a terrorist what that will make joshua,david,gideon.....
