As is obvious from the discussions in this forum, there are those who claim to be "Baptists" who hold to every sort of wicked and ungodly heresy you can imagine (and some you can't imagine). The presence of such heresy in Baptist churches is the result of years of leavening effect from the heresy of Modernism.

    Modernists lie.

They say, "I believe the Bible" when really they don't.

They say, "I believe in Jesus Christ" when really they don't.

These and many other lies they tell so they can pretend to be Christians, hold membership in the churches, teach in the schools, all the while spreading their deadly venom of infidelity.

Modernists have declared war on the truth. It is time the truth declared war on Modernism. It is time we drove every vestige of Modernism out of the true Baptist churches of this land.

If men want to reject the teachings of the Bible and call themselves Baptists there is nothing I can do to stop them. I can, however, call them liars for liars they are. I can also warn other Christian people about such ravenous wolves who would rend the Lord's churches assunder.

And if men like them rise up in the church where I am, I can fight against them with every fiber of my being.

God help us so to do.

    For the record,

This is one conservative Baptist Bible believing saved, etc. (see namecalling under theology section) who does not approve of the combining of the terms "Baptist" and "jihad". I am not a muslim extremist and not prepared to fly a plane into a building to kill 3000 people. Any further comparisons of like manner are only a blight on the face of conservative christianity in this country.

    Son Of Coffee Man,

I'm sorry if my comparison offends you, but we are in a Holy War whether we like it or not. While the Muslims are flying planes into the World Trade Center, we are paying infidels (many of them them hiding their scales under the cloak of baptism) to teach the children of this nation that the Bible is a pack of lies

I don't intend to fly any planes into anything nor do anyone bodily harm. I do, however, intend to take up the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God and fight the good fight of faith.

Mark, Take a deep breath and get a Grip, man.

The only Holy War is in your mind. Don't let it reach your hands.

Appreciate the fervor, but let's work on toning down the rhetoric here.

A Baptist Jihad is degrading to the name of Baptist. Comparing ANYTHING we do with the evil fruit of Allah-worship drags us down to their level.

Acts 19 in the battle between demonic worship and that of Jesus, v 20 shows were the real victory will be won in this fight with "powers and principalities"

Since I know of one person you have branded as a "modernist" I can say with assurance that you are bearing false witness if you are making a blanket statement here.

    Another false statement.

    And another.

    Yeah, whatever...

Warring on fellow believers because they don't match up to your faulty standard? This is hardly Christian.

And you have borne false witness against Dr. Leon McBeth in a recent previous thread, claiming he is a "modernist". Since you have demonstrated here what you think a modernist is... I can say without a shadow of a doubt that you have borne false witness against him and you sir do not speak the truth in his situation. Since you do not speak the truth about him, you have no credibility with me when you speak in such general terms about others. Time to turn off this rhetoric and examine your heart.

If you do it, it won't be God -- it will be the work of the evil one. (I am not joking.)

    There is no "holy" war.

We may contend for the faith, but we may have a different understanding of it than you do.

    Mark,
Don't know if you are trying to win people to your way of thinking, trying to get something started, or just clouding the issue. Just read 2 threads you started and so far you have accused members of the Baptist faith of heresy, called them infidels, and have called for a holy war. IF you are trying to be persuasive in your rhetoric, you sure have a funny way of showing it. If it were'nt for cutting through all the hate in your threads I might be persuaded to admit you might have a point or two.....and maybe not.

Wasn't Walter Shurden, a "moderate/liberal" Southern Baptist actually the first to use this term (back in the 1980s)?

Actually, I believe it was Dr. Roy Honeycutt who talked about a "Holy War" in one of his sermons. Didn't use the word Jihad, but most definitely had the same connotation.

Mark: Every time you preach the truth from the gospel you are part of the holy war.
Anything that's not truth is what you're fighting against. The war was declared with the entrance of sin upon the earth, and won't end until God says so.
And it includes a lot more sins than some of those being promoted by the more "liberal" Baptists.
We do not need to declare a sudden war on sin, hopefully we all joined it when we became Christians. [IMG]

Mark I guesss Issac Watts said it better...

Am I a soldier of the cross,
    A follower of the Lamb,
And shall I fear to own His cause,
Or blush to speak His Name?

Must I be carried to the skies
    On flowery beds of ease,
While others fought to win the prize,
    And sailed through bloody seas?

Are there no foes for me to face?
Must I not stem the flood?
Is this vile world a friend to grace,
To help me on to God?

    Sure I must fight if I would reign;
    Increase my courage, Lord.
I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,
    Supported by Thy Word.

Thy saints in all this glorious war
    Shall conquer, though they die;
They see the triumph from afar,
    By faith’s discerning eye

When that illustrious day shall rise,
    And all Thy armies shine
In robes of victory through skies,
The glory shall be Thine... Aren't we all enlisted in Gods Army... Brother Glen

Mark, I find that "jihad" mixed with anything about Christianity is WRONG! I find it offensive, and I would just like to ask you, what in the world have you been smoking? Did you smoke, but not inhale? Haven't had words with you since the BMAWeb days, but this is offensive and YOU should be ashamed of yourself.

Jihad may be incorrect terminology, but the thought is correct. Instead of joining hands with sin, we should be staying as far away as possible. I won't go into details as this subject is worn out.

Instead of joining in the battle against sin by separating themselves they do as Lot and go down to the city gate and become one with their sin. we need to witness to sinners, but not participate in their sin.

    2 Corinthians 6:14-18

Perhaps the reason some don't get it is :
    2Corinthians 2:14

    Brother Anthony J. Lanius,

Oh thou one with tender sensibilities, I find it very odd that you are offended by a harmless use of an Arabic term to describe what is indeed a Holy War between Bible believing Baptists and Bible rejecting Baptists, but you have no qualms about making a sarcastic remark about me smoking dope.

In my opinion, you are a hypocrite.
