Tollorance is the reason why I can't speak like a Christian in my school and not be constantly told by the teachers that I can't say that I'm SURE anything's wrong.
Canada sucks for that, no one's right everyone's right it's a mess...
Tolorance is the reason I get evolution shoved into my brain dispite my outright disgust of the moronic philosophy that ignores every ounce of biological emperical data.

intollorance amoung Christians is why my church split. in tollorance amoung Christians is why I've had friends treat me like nothing. Intollorance amoung Christians has caused me to hate my fellow man.

Christians are called to tollorate eachother to loev eachother dispite the world's veiws and dispite our own veiws.
We still have to love and fellowship with those we don't agree with, and even may inwardly sin toward. Tollorance for ideas and belifes that go against God our hearts should have no tollorance for.

Thanks for that Dr. Bob, another wrinkle (something learned ) for me, I now know what a dulcimer is. I agree that the original words suit me best,in the hymns an Ebenezer is an Ebenezer, and if the word is not understood by anyone they can ask. I am not one for altering words to suit the modern day `lingo` the meaning/ feeling is often lost. [IMG]

Dr Bob, re: Changing words. Old Church was just bringing in Kendrick's "The Source" book as I was leaving, it does that too.

I remember one morning we had the chorus "A New Commandment" from that book. Instead of "By this all men will know", it had "By this shall all-ll know"

Glad I wasn't around long enough after that to see what else the book had done [IMG]

Is that any relation to the contemporary Christian group Selah?

I would say this is quite popular in conservative churches in the southern U. S. It's one that we sang often when I was growing up. Titus2_1 said they sing it with the tune "Warrenton." What tune do some of the rest of you use? Joshua, do you know which tune is used in your church? The tune I have heard most often is "Nettleton," but we also sing it with the tune "Holy Manna (Brethren, We Have Met the Worship)," - adding "Lord, Revive Us" as a chorus - "Warrenton," and one other that I will have to look up.

The other tune we use is "Restoration." It is a minor tune often seen with the words, "Come ye sinners, poor and needy...I will rise and go to Jesus, etc."

Jimmy, I can only answer that in my experience it has not been used at communion services. Here is a link to the tune to which I refer:

    "Restoration" in the Cyber-Hymnal

And here are two of the other three we use:

    "Nettleton"
    "Holy Manna"

[couldn't find Warrenton on the Cyber-Hymnal; maybe it has another name]

Dunno - we celebrate the Eucharist in every service! ;)

    RLV - It's Nettleton. I just checked.

    Dr. Bob said:

Understand. When I sing "At the Cross" my automatic relex is to sing "such a worm as I."

Now, I don't think this does any damage to the song and perhaps does improve it. "Ebeneezer" always seemed a little unnatural.

Still, it brings to mind what Charles Wesley said:

As to the thread, I grew up singing "Come, Thou Fount," although it seems -- to me -- to be sung less than a few years ago. But that may be only at the churches I've attended.
