I have noticed that there are a few who would embrace the teachings of men who have the idea of, "go to the church of your choice." Which is all well and good if that church is a bible believing, Christ teaching church that teaches some standards and morals. It is a terrific waste to share salvation with someone then tell them it is ok to go to their Catholic, Mormon, JW, etc etc church. Though they may accept Christ, they will never grow and flourish. There is only one God and He is jealous. We can not be swindled into this ecumenical mess. It is time we get back to the basics and "come out from among them and be ye separate..."

    Then the question arises...
    Who is/has "the basics"?

</font>[/QUOTE]It would seem to me that the scripture I quoted is pretty basic.

Nope! How can two walk together except they be agreed said Old Amos and he is absolutely correct. There is enough trouble trying to work with other Baptists because of doctrine than trying to hang out with the rest of the groups! Talk about chaos and compromising!!!!!

NO. What Maverick said Amos said (3:3) is basic. Now, I have no problem sitting down with the Bible and trying to come to agreement based on what Scripture says, but I am strongly opposed to casting faith, belief, and doctrines to the wind so we can all "work together."

Amen and Amen brothers Vaughn and Maverick!
This business of "you pray to your god and I'll pray to mine" has really gotten some attention since 9-11. It is time we start raising our voices a little louder for King Jesus!!!

    I agree with you rlvaughn.

I have watched my home church embrase doctrines from another denominations and now it is drying up. This happened about a year ago. Some of us along with the Paster was ask to leave when we disagreed with these doctrines. This church use to be a light house but, now it is cold and dead. The sad thing to me about it all is that they still do not know what is wrong. They have embrase man's word and put God's Word out. This is what happens when we fall asleep and are not on guard.

p.s. Pray for this church that they will come back to God and embrase His Word once again.

This is so true! I have been looking for a church for my family and I since we moved here, and it is hard to find a real bible believing church that has not thrown doctrine out the window in order to fill seats.

Like the post before this...just thought I would drop the full group of verses for reference... ;)

    2 Corinthians
    6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

    6:15
And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

    6:16
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

    6:17
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

    6:18
And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

How do we determine who gets to be the lead dog in this pack? The loudest bark or the sharpest fangs?

I know it can be tempting to push aside those we do not agree with and get in our holy huddles with those who are just like us, but God has called us to something different. Never does the word say that we are only to work with those Christians who believe exactly what we do. Rather, we are to work with all Christians.

"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit-- just as you were called to one hope when you were called--one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." Ephesians 4:3-6

So let's get down to the basic--faith in Jesus! If you are saved then we are brothers and sister and on the same team! And that is good enough for me.

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
    Romans 16:17&18

Pretty clear-cut if you ask me.....

As a practical example: Should we avoid taking part in a Catholic sponsored right to life ralley? Or how about a Methodist organized 9-1-1 open to all memorial service? Or is seperation carried to these areas also?

A close study of history will show that nearly all great moves of God were ecuminical in origin. However, be sure that those you associate with are of like faith, many of the religions mentioned in the first few posts are not really Bible oriented and by many mainstream denominations are considered cults.

Also, Maverick, are you the maverick that used to visit ILJ??
