Hold out your hand and look at your fingers......look at the tips........just beyond those finger tips is Hell, and heaven. It is just beyond the flesh in another dimension.

    Cheers,

Well, Jim, Christ said heaven starts within us... [IMG]

Now, being a blonde, I KNOW that for me that is another dimension -- do you mean to say you folks are the same?

In the meantime, to Homebound -- if you read 2 Peter 3, you will read that the elements will all be gone and the earth burned up. This pretty much eliminates hell being in the center of the earth, since, as you can reference at the end of Matthew 25, eternal punishment is just that...eternal. You will also find this referenced in Revelation 20 and other places.

    Hope that helps.

You're asking a spatial question of the material world while the subject of your question is not necessarily material.

In other worlds, a literal and physical lake of fire is not currently in the material world.

Is hell in the center of the earth?

None of us knows, cuz none of us have been there. One thing is certain... Hell is the total absence of God's presence. I don't believe Hell or Heaven are geographic places. They're states of being.

But, like I said, none of us have ever been there.

Hell is a what..not a where, and its a temporary state of being....

....and God is infinite..He's everywhere. no place exists where God does not..Thats infinite.
Wherever your at..God made it..and exists within it.
...So whatever hell is........God is there........or he wouldn't be infinite.

The Bible talks about being "cast into outer darkness" (that's Matthew 8:12, 22:13 and 25:30, Curtis) so I assume it's not at the center of the Earth.

There IS a hellish place within the earth for certain, but whether hell itself I wot not.
Glad I'm not gonna be around for THAT scene to unfold! Truly the Great Tribulation to come will be "hell on earth".

    Thanks for the post everyone.

I was wondering, has anyone ever heard of a team of scientist drilling down through the Earth and dropping some kind of microphone down only to hear what sounded to them like screams of people?

    Check this out: http://amightywind.com/hell/aboutsounds.htm

Read carefully. The first thing you'll notice is no attributable sources; i.e., nothing to verify the information against. Second, you'll find the name "Art Bell"; if you're not familiar, Art is a notorious radio personality who accepts calls from people who believe in Bigfoot, aliens in flying saucers, the Mothman, and the people who live at the center of the earth (whose "world" you can get to by entering the giant hole at the North Pole).

For a full account of just how much of a hoax this "drilling to hell" is, check out the following:

Now, will one of our more learned biblical scholars please address Me2's "hell is a temporary state of being" post?

don't have to be learned, just biblical.
Matthew 25:46 indicates that as long as the righteous are in eternal life, the other will be in eternal punishment. If one is eternal, in other words, so is the other...

Me2, Hell is not a state of being. Hell really does exist, check out what the rich man said about it in Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24  And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

Hell is real and I believe a careful study of the Bible will prove just that. Besides, if you are saved, what are you saved from?

If your not, go here http://www.staggs.pair.com/brandon/saved.html

    God bless.

Maybe it is not so much what are we saved from, but who we are saved to.

    Cheers,

Well you have to understand the word "hell" and it's many meanings. I know we are talking about the abode of the unsaved. It is a place where God is not. God can be everywhere at the sametime and he can choose to not be a certain place if he want's too. He is God you know. The Word tells us that it is outer darkness and I think Bottomles pit applies and wailing and nashing of theeth fit in there some how. Oh yeah "their worm dieth not" and who can forget "the smoke of their torment rises forever".

Putting all this together we have a dark two dimentional place (length and width but no depth) A nawing consciencness of existence with nothing but our own evil unfullfiled desires and thoughts.

Have you seen the first Superman movie where the bad guys are put in the phantom Zone at the beggining of the movie. Remeber the window that was tumbling through space and you see their face and as the window tumbles and you see the other side, you still see their faces. A two dimensional existance.................or I may be wrong. Just something to think about.

I am not sure where but I do not care because it is a place that I do not want to be around.

    The Bible's description of hell

Look for a minute at the biblical expression which describe hell. It is called a Lake of Fire - a bottomless pit - a horrible tempest - a devouring fire - a place of sorrows - a place of weeping and wailing - a place of torments - everlasting destruction - a place of outer darkness - a place where men have no rest - a place where men are tormented with fire and brimstone - a place where the fire is not quenched.

    1. It is a place of separation from God. We couldn't exist here a second if we were cut off from God. But think of being in hell, cut off from Him forever. We can pray here; we can call on His name. But prayers will not help in hell, for men will be forever separated from God.

    2. It is a place of unsatisfied desires. When we have desires here, we can usually satisfy them in some measure. If a man desires money, there are many ways to get it. If he wants liquor, he can get it. If he wants to satisfy his fleshly nature, he can do it. But in hell, he will be burning up with these desires, and there will be no way to satisfy them. The rich man in hell wanted water, but there was no way to get it. So man, with all of this cravings, will suffer in hell with unsatisfied desires.

    3. It is a place of vilest companionship. The worst people, the meanest, cruelest, filthiest people will be there. Let me tell you something that will add to the horrors of hell for some people. They live clean lives, they are cultured and refined, they are good citizens, they are nice to their family and friends. But they reject Jesus Christ. One day they will be cast into hell, to live the rest of eternity with liars, adulterers, murderers, drunkards, homosexuals, and the vilest of creatures. This will be an awful thing for them and will last forever. They can never die and leave these people, and they can't get up and move away.

    4. It is a place of hopelessness. Hope is the mainspring that keeps us going down here. When we are sick, we hope to get well. When we are poor, we hope things will get better. When we are unhappy, we hope soon to find happiness. When we have an unpleasant job, we hope to get a better one. But there is no hope in hell. There you just suffer and live in hopeless despair. Over the doors of an ancient prison were these words: "Abandon hope all ye that enter herein." That is nothing compared to hell. There is not one second of hope there. When you are cast into hell, it is forever.

    5. It is a place of suffering. I don't think I need to dwell on that. Every Bible description of hell denotes suffering - intense, everlasting suffering. I know a woman who is now suffering greatly. She knows she is going to die soon, so she says, "It will soon be over." No one can ever say that in hell. There suffering there never ends.

    6. It is a place of memory. When men are haunted by a bitter memory here, they can commit suicide. But you can't do that in hell; you must live on; you must remember. Your memory will be like 10,000 mirrors around you, recalling all the sins and follies of your life. You will remember how you sold your eternal soul for the pleasures of this world. You will remember every sermon and every song you ever heard, every invitation to salvation, every wooing of the Holy Spirit. You will remember how your mother prayed for you and your friends and family sought to win you to Christ. You will remember how you held back from any decision for Christ. As you remember all these things, this memory will be hell in itself. Oh, to be shut up in hell with memory always fresh.

You will remember that instead of suffering in hell, you could have been enjoying the happiness and bliss of heaven. You will remember the easy terms upon which you could have been saved. If it had been impossible for you to repent and trust Christ, this would have made the agony easier. But you will remember that you could have had eternal life for the asking, and you turned it down. You will remember how cheaply you sold out to Satan, and how you exchanged the joys of heaven for the sorrows of hell.

On this earth you sometimes blame Christians for your own sins. You say that they are a bunch of hypocrites. Then you turn your back on God and continue in your sin. You blame everybody else for you unsaved condition while you're here, but in hell you'll remember that you're the guilty one. Remember now that the issue is between you and God and no one else. You must account to Him for yourself and not for the hypocrites. It will be no one's fault but your own if you deliberately seal your own doom.

It isn't easy to go to hell. Before you get there you must climb over the church, the Bible, gospel sermons, your conscience, your better judgment, the Holy Spirit, and all the providences of God. Then finally you must climb over Calvary and trample Jesus Christ under foot. In hell, you'll remember that you did all of this.

    I just came across this,

    THE SPHERE OF HELL
The sphere of Hell is a round, hollowed-out place in the Earth's core. Scientists say that the Earth's outer crust is less than twenty miles thick, and that beyond that point, there are rivers and lakes of FLAMING HOT LAVA, or, as the Bible calls it, a "lake of fire" (Rev. 20:15). So, this very moment your eternal soul may be less than twenty miles from the burning fires of Hell!

Hell isn't in some distant dimension; Hell is UNDER YOUR FEET! The rebels in Numbers chapter 16 went DOWN into the pit. Moses wrote in Deuteronomy 32:22 about a fire in the LOWEST HELL. Amos 9:2 speaks of people trying to DIG down into Hell. So Hell is a REAL PLACE, and it's UNDER YOUR FEET RIGHT NOW, torturing millions of lost souls forever! Think about that!

This man seems to think Hell is in the center of the earth. I myself have never really put to much thought on where Hell actual is, but this is one mans view so I posted it.

If Hell is a physical place at the center of teh Earth and we know that the Earth has a definite shape and size (geology isn't my strong point, so bear with me), how would it accomodate the trilions and trillions of people who must be there(or who will be there, depending on your view).

Also, what does the Bible say about the future of the Earth after the thousand years and how does that fit in with the idea that Hell is at the Earth's center? (eschatology also is not my strong point, so I will defer to the rest of you on this)

    The Bible say that,
Mt 24:35-HEAVEN AND EARTH SHALL PASS AWAY, BUT MY WORDS SHALL NOT PASS AWAY.

Mt 5:18-FOR VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, TILL HEAVEN AND EARTH PASS (or disappear), ONE JOT OR ONE TITTLE SHALL IN NO WISE PASS FROM THE LAW, TILL ALL BE FULFILLED (or accomplished).

My previous post was someone elses view of Hells location. As for me I am not sure where it is.
Also, I know that there is an actual place called Hell and then at the White throne judgment there is the Eternal Lake of Fire. Hell may be just a holding place for people who die in their sins before the White Throne Judgement and thrown into the Eternal Lake of Fire.
The suffering will be equal though. All I know there is the Eternal Lake of Fire and Hell. Are they one in the same? Not sure, I would like to do more of an extensive study on it.
