What did you study and how in Sunday School
    today?

I was in an SBC couples' class that studied Philippians 1: 1-11 and the mind of Christ. This was from an SBC quarterly. There are always several series to pick from for a class.
It was teacher-led with lots of group participation.

In the class I teach, we finished up our study of Hosea. We currently use the SBC Lifeway "Exploring the Bible" Sunday school series. For the next three months we will be studying 1-2 Thess. For the quarter after that we will be going radical and be studying the concept of a God-centered life using John Piper's "Desiring God" as a resource.

Whoa, that is radical for an SBC church!
;) I recently finished teaching Piper's Let the Nations be Glad over the summer, and am now teaching exegetically through Galatians. This week we began verse 4, and next week will tackle the question "For whom did Christ die?" :D

It's Monday, can I still post.
In our class we are studying through one Bible book at a time.Usually one chapter, unless it's short. We've have been on Acts. Our teacher is very good, he is well studied, and easily the best teacher we have other then out pastor.
We've had a lot of fun, the past year(how long it took us to do Acts), every four chapters we have a test, just for fun, men's team against the women's team. We had the final for the whole book yesterday. Amazing how mush od Acts we all remember from doing this kind of study(in Su.Sc.) and then more study for the tests.

Without looking it up, when they choose deacons, how many did they choose?(rmrmber the greek widows who they complained weren't being treated as fairly in food distrubtion). All but one was a jew, the other a gentile, what was his name? When Paul was sent to Rome,(a prisoneer) when he appealed to Ceasar, how many boats did he sail on?

We just finished a 3 month study on some of the prophets of the Old Testament. Our lesson yesterday was from 2 Kings 17. Our lesson comes from the American Baptist Comprehensive Bible Study quarterly. I haven't been greatly impressed with them though and thankfully neither have most of the teachers that I have heard. They all seem to teach the lesson in an entirely different way then the book does. I would much rather listen to a Spirit filled teacher then just "go over the text" any day.

I sure do miss the SBC materials though, I always enjoyed reading them.

We just started a New Believers classs. Finally got more than just me! [IMG] It seemed for awhile that I was gonna be the only non-teenager who got saved.

We are using "The ABC's of Christian Growth" for this class. It is a workbook that tackels a different subject for each letter i.e A = Assurance of Salvation, B = The Bible, and so on. There is a reading assignment, and a scripture memorization for each lesson along with answerin come simple questions in the book. Each question gives you a chapter and verse to find the answer. The Monday night ladies bible study has been using this book for about a year, and they all love it. From that success Pastor decided to use it for us new believers.

I just finished the material I had, and my new things haven't arrived yet. I order Regular Baptist Press this time . . . we've used them in the past for VBS, so I am excited to be using their SS material.

Anyway, we did a cross word puzzle yesterday about faith. The children had to look up the verses indicated in order to fill in the boxes.

One thing I miss about teaching SS is being in a class of my own. But I hope I'm a blessing to the kids I teach.

I am teaching verse-by-verse through Romans. Been 16 weeks and we are through Romans 8. Our adult SS class has grown from 20-25 to 40-45.

It is a time of true interaction, where the folks are NOT allowed to be pew-potatos. Lots of controversy - any study of DOCTRINE will bring out the bad teaching of the past - but lots more light than heat.

I love it and feel bad that we DO NOT HAVE SUNDAY SCHOOL tomorrow (Labor Day). [IMG]

We studied 2 Chronicles 30:1-6, 8-12 about Good Ol' King Hezekiah's excitement about reopening Temple worship. It's like reopening a newly renovated historical theater that had been closed down for decades. Good stuff.

We studied (for the 2nd week) on getting to know God. I took the 42nd Psalm as my starting point.
we say we know him & want to know him more..but how do we pursue that goal?
Next week...the Lord willing, I will begin to teach on the tabernacle in the wilderness. Ought to be intresting & enlightening. [IMG]

We studied John 1:1-18 in the Explore the Bible Life Way SSLit. This is my first year to teach/lead adult women. Most of them probably know more than I do so it really is a matter of leading the lesson plan.
I am a very visual learner so that is how I set up the class time. Lots of discussion and visuals to lead the discussion.
Sorry I am late to post... just a busy day yesterday.
