My family and I are definitely considering this option because there just aren't any churches within a decent vicinity (too many miles away) that even come close to our core beliefs and I don't want to have to "explain away" things to my children when we get home, let alone get my own filled with garbage.

Anyway, does anyone have any resources to help us structure such a thing???

    Thanks!

One of the first signs of a person with a heart problem is when they consider "home" church.

Look for another chuch, Kathy. Unless your husband is a preacher, then get in touch with some chyrch planters and tell them of a need for a church in your area. God will not put a person in a place where they will be contrary to Scripture, Do not forsake the fellowship of believers.

From your previous posts, I know of the problems you have with the church you left. I am telling you, please don't let the seed of bitterness spring up. Read Hebrews 10:19- 12:29. Pray and understand God's words. [IMG]

We meet in a home only because we don't have a building yet...there are just 8 of us, but we have had plenty of outta-town guests because of our little assembly.

There truly are no Scriptural churches within a 50-75mile radius. Having been Missionary Baptists for many years, we were members of an ABA mission, from which we were excluded.

The Lord has placed us under the watchcare of Old Paths Baptist Church in Indiana & my son-in-law does a mighty fine job of leading us. He also preaches on the short-wave, as well as the streets.

We support missionaries, preachers, & a church. We have projects in the works & work diligently for the Lord. I'm happier than I've ever been in my life & I really enjoy being on the BB. [IMG] God bless you as you seek His will.

Guess all those NT saints had a "heart problem" then.
There is nothing wrong with a home church if done properly. Good luck in your search Kathy. I hope to never have your problem, so my sympathies and prayers are with you.

Here's a resource I found for you. Hope it helps - I didn't look through it very much.

I think the "heart" problem is avoidable if you think of the situation as a matter of church planting. There is nothing wrong (and it happens all the time in many places around the world) starting a church in your home. The key is making sure it is just that the first place for a new church to meet. Do you plan on expanding beyond your immendiate family? Do you plan on organizing yourself into a formal ecclesia? Do you plan....? If the answer are yes, then by all means just don't stand there get on with the job.s

"all those NT saints" met in homes because a) they didn't have church buildings; and b) they didn't have an attitude where if they fellowshipped with the wrong kind of Christians they would get their head "filled with garbage."

Refusal to fellowship with the saints is a sign of spiritual immaturity, or perhaps self-righteousness.

    AMEN!

I can say that cuz I am an independent fundamental king james bible loving etc, etc etc believer attending a Bible college of like faith. While Biblical Fundamentalism is honestly the closest thing to a proper interpretation of the scriptures (if you want to refute this plz pm me as this is not my main point), we seem to be stuck with the "I'm right" attitude. By this I mean that if anyone doesn't do things exactly like us then they must be wrong. While we are holding very close to the most right position possible we have somehow given up fellowship for "being right" on little stuff that does not matter.

For the record: where you go to church does matter.

Here is another thought to mix things up: what if God wanted you to go to the most right church that is closest to you (however far that is) just so that you can be a good testimony and...hmmm...i don't know, BUILD UP someone who doesn't know the Bible as well as you?

Of course this is assuming there is no bitterness problem.

    ok, discuss.

This is complete nonsense. But if it makes you feel more spiritually mature or righteous, then good for you.

Actually, I think there is a great deal of merit to it. If someone is unwilling to fellowship with the local body of believers, we need to explore why. I have come in contact with people who just "too good" to fellowship. I have also met people who are doctrinally aberrant who can't find a "good church" because their standards are wrong. I think we need more information to answer this question. The home church movement is unscriptural. Starting a church in home is not, depending on the reasons.

    Yeah, what Pastor Larry said.

Like that one fast ball that was down the center and then over the wall when Chipper Jones was batting, I am out.

The New Testament is the place that has both the answers and the resources for starting a church. As others have said, many churches started in someone's home and today they are community lighthouses for truth. [IMG]

Not to popen the proverbial can o'worms, but I'm undersandably curious. What kind of churches are near you?

I guess I'm jaded because I live in a region that has a church on practically every block. I consider that a blessing.

Well, let's see...you got fat worms, skinny worms, & all kinds of wiggly-worms, etc. [IMG] We live in a rural area & 90% of our parish(county) is tongue-talkers...so we sure don't wanna go there! :( And then the few SBC's there are, are very worldly/carnal...so we sure don't wanna go there.

We're not a Methodist, Episcopalian, or a Presbyterian, nor a Catholic, or a Mormon or JW, SDA, CofC, AofG or other. The Lord led our family here in '84 to work in an ABA mission, but after kicking us out in Jan., they have since closed the doors.

So with that, the Lord has opened-up a new door under the direction of Old Paths B.C. an Independent work. In the past, we have driven those 50-75miles before, but the direction the ABA are turning, we felt it just wasn't worth the drive! [IMG]

[Besides, our '82 truck has over 335,000mi. on the original & I doubt it'd hold up anymore]. :D

I think the fact that your truck has 335,000 miles on it and is still kicking is a miracle in itself.

Well, if GOd's opened a door, my all means go through it ;)

This attitude is EXACTLY why I left my church. One talks about my having a heart problem because I desire to be taught the TRUTH. But in all fairness, you could be right about my having a heart problem, but not for the reasons you say. Your attitude is mean spirited so I'll just dismiss it.

The other says I'm spiritually immature and self-righteous. I think just by saying that, you yourself could be bordering on self-righteous.

Thank you to those of you who are and have prayed for me and thank you for giving me your opinions and interpretations IN LOVE.

And for the record, I have a HUGE desire to fellowship with other believers, just not the ones that look down their noses at me because I'm not a robotic drone just like them! I wonder if someone desiring to leave JW or Mormon would be given this type of response...

    Granny,
Is that you in the picture? Is your truck a Toyota?
    Kathy,
I do not know your whole situation but I understand when you have said you are looking for a Biblical church. Too many churches are very unScriptural in my opinion. There may already be some home churches in your area.
www.charityministries.org offers a fellowship finder for people in your area. You can put your name on the list and you will recieve a letter with others in your area. In my opinion the Charity group is the closest to a New Testament church. They are Anabaptist.
I will pray that the Lord will bring you where He wants you to be.
