Nickelodeon to air pro-homosexual kids show

hello, there:

I signed the petition and sent it to two more people I know.

 

this is worse than the Abercrombie n fitch thing. my 4 year old watches Nick. ugh. not happy about this......
I dont hate homosexuals, i have an old friend who is one and i love him very much, in spite of his lifestyle. I think even he would be offended. It is just not acceptable to be teaching ANYTHING about homosexuality to young children.
Actually thouh, I noticed what could be veiled references to homosexuality in some of their shows, Oswald most notably. Now it could be that my head is in the gutter........

What wasn't shown was the exact nature of the show. Is it a show that shows homosexuals having sex or discussing sexual issues (which I think we all can agree would be wrong) but lets face it, this isn't what the show is about. OR is it a show that has a gay character(s) like in "real life". This is what the show will most likely be about.

If it is the latter, I see no problem with that type of show. It helps teach tolerance of others people’s lifestyles. Much like the Black Lifestyle that Bill Cosby brought to the stage with Fat Albert. It helped show America children that they weren't all killers and thugs. Maybe this show will show that homosexuals aren't child molesters and sexual deviants. Most likely though, it is one gay kid in a group of straight kids. Just like at any given public/private school system.

Before you waste time on signing anything, find out what the real situation is. I have my doubts about anything that never details but surmises with phrases like "targeting children for homosexual recruitment". Give me a break!

I signed the petition and will forward it to others to sign. We Christians need to take a stand against homosexuality. How dare anyone try to push that trash on my child! Saying it is an alternate lifestyle is ridiculus. It is and will always be an abomination to God. I fear this country will have to answer to it's acceptance of this sin.

Witches
Communists
Jazz
Rock and roll music 50's
Long haired hippy types
hard rock 70's
homosexuals (present)

The treatment against these groups by Christians were far worse than the acts or existence of these groups. Think twice before you start burning the crosses again.

Gotta disagree with you. I dont equate a pro family agenda or forum doing battle through a petition drive against a pro homosexual lobby as burning crosses. Hey, I'll be honest with you, if this was coming out on network TV I probably wouldnt give it the time of day. However, Nick targets kids. And I'm not talking MTV here. I have 4 kids ages 3 to 14 and the advertisers are targeting them. If I can use my influence against the advertisers to control to some small extent what they see on a network that touts being family friendly I call that "consumer advocacy." Thanks.

I appreciate your efforts to protect children. But, my question to any parent is why are you allowing Nickolodean in your house in the first place? Satan has control of most of television. The problem has a cure, keep satan and his cohorts out, unplug him.

Post-it, I'd like to clarify something in reference to your comments. The Bible does not teach tolerance but love. We are commanded to love our fellow men (generic), and even our enemies. And for this reason we can love a homosexual, of which life style is against nature, but since we are also commanded to hate sin, we cannot love and endorse the actions of a practicing homosexual only a repentant one. I cannot see it any other way, for tolerance is the way of the world in an attempt to be politically correct.

This is the most ludicrous and inflammatory statement in this piece.

Is it "recruiting children for left-handedness" when a children's program shows that it's OK to be left-handed? Is it recruiting children for myopia when a children's program reminds kids not to make fun of children who wear glasses?

Whether the far right wants to accept it or not, within the secular culture and within mainstream Christianity normative social values increasingly include the recognition that homosexuality is not inherently deviant or unhealthy. As it becomes more normative, it is becoming more common in daily T.V. programming (just like interracial marriage, equality for women, eqaul representation of minorities, and other formerly taboo subjects).

With all that said, it has nothing to do with "recruitment." Back when it was better to have leprosy than to be homosexual, there were still plenty of homosexual people to go around. The gay "movement" doesn't need good publicity to draw people to its cause.

I'll stick that onto the end of this popular verse and see if maybe I can understand this from your view point.

Corinthians 13
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. It isn't tolerant of others we don't agree with.

...I don't know, it just doesn't fit right with the rest of the verse. I will have to disagree with you on this one. I think if Love is patient, it most likely is tolerant of something of this nature too.

 

Post-it, thank you for reinforcing my point with 1 Cor. 13:4, 5, but please try to refrain from re-writing the Bible (boldfaced above). I hope you agree with me on this that in the light of the Scripture my statement was on target, in that, God hates sin and so must we. According to the Bible, homosexuality is a sin (just as bad as premarital sex, as adultery, etc, etc.), therefore a practicing homosexual is not living in the will of God. We are to preach the Gospel and witness to practicing homosexuals as well, but it does not include fellowshipping with them (in other words, by telling them that they are ok as they are for God approves their lifestyle, etc.). This is not to be confused with the redemptive processes of the Holy Spirit, for He can save a practicing homosexual, an adulterer, as well as a murderer, and make them pure (a new creature, if you will).

 

Barnabas, I agree with you(for what ever that is worth, I would sat not much)!! We are to love the lost show them the Gospel of Christ so they can be saved, but the Holy Spirit will teach us as well as others what is right!! In the bible it is on paper and the Holy Spirit will teach and help us grow. However sin is sin!! I think to day we don't want to learn bible doctrine and be a christian but live as close to satin as we can rather than allowing the Holy Spirit to help us live as close to Christ as we can. Christ forgave and then said go and sin no more, we do but we have 1John 1:9. We should want to be as Christlike as we can. Forgive but teach right from wrong, remember the christian live is objective not subjective, subjective has very little black and white but alot of gray.
2 Peter 1:1-11 teaches us shows the depths and heights of the christian life. God has called us, not for our glory and virtue but for His!!! We are to be a display to the world of the excellencies of Jesus to the world, His glory and virtue.

So if we applied this to a witch that heard the gospel and turned from her ways of practicing witchcraft, became a Christian, but still practiced some (just a couple) of her pagan ways. Would you fellowship with her or not?

[So here, are you saying that the homosexual that has become Christian(saved) is still going to heaven even if they can't stop all the sin in their life, including being homosexual, is that right?

I am sure that you understand the scope of redemption just as any Bible believing individual, so I am not going to elaborate on what I have already stated. And judging by your posts, you are much too intelligent to lower yourself into a senseless argument. I had a great respect for you by reading some of your other posts, so I'll simply forget that this exchange took place.
