Women wearing pants are in sin

    Thank you HCL, this was a very good testimony. This is coming from a man's point of view. Most of the women I see in "modest clothing" in church do not look any different than the women I use to see around 8 or 9pm. 0`clock in the bars. Nice dress slacks able to see the outline of their under garments,sheer blouses,make up hair all done up. The only difference is these women don`t wake up at home. Does these sound like the attire of a Godly woman? And if the shoe fits :eek:

    The dead horse we are trying to beat is the women that do not want to come out of their pants. They want the world and the things of it, most of these women work outside of the home, they have other men they answer to, they only go to church out of duty.

    Trumpet, You have raised an excellent point. The fact that when Christian women wear pants they look NO DIFFERENT FROM THE WORLD. From the beginning God's people were to be different and set apart in EVERYTHING FOR THE LORD.

    About the comment that we only have to obsy sometimes this comes from God's Word: TITUS 2:5,"...OBEDIENT TO THEIR OWN HUSBANDS, THAT THE WORD OF GOD BE NOT BLASPHEMED."

    1 PETER 3:6, "EVEN AS SARA OBEYED ABRAHAM, CALLING HIM LORD...."

    You know something? There are an awful lot of women who go to church without their husbands because hubby doesn't want to. If you think they are going to church simply out of duty you have another think coming.

    And I sincerely doubt that ANY woman responding on this forum even owns a see-through blouse! Or the semi-transparent slacks. I wear jeans as much as possible because they only cost ten bucks a throw on sale and I can wear one pair for several years. My dresses cost more, and so I save them for the times when I am out or on tour with my husband. If you, however, would like to donate money to help me with my impoverished jeans-based at-home wardrobe, feel free...

    If you are serious I actually have a few dresses I no longer need. One is size 11/12 the other size 12. The first one is pretty floral and the second is a vest dress. If you want them please send me a pm. I would be delighted to mail them to you free of charge.

    Thank you, but first, I am no longer that size and, second, I'm really comfortable working around here in jeans.

    Barry said to mention he likes me in jeans. He never has mistaken me for a guy at any distance, and he was delighted when I wanted to clamber through the Adelaide hills with him on our honeymoon. And when I try to think of cleaning out the chicken area in a dress, I really do end up giggling to myself.

    But I needed a giggle today, so that's fine.

    You are a brave one, aren't you?

    Now, judging why a person is doing something isn't a very smart thing, is it? I go to church, not because it is a duty, but it is something that I know I'm supposed to do, and because I enjoy growing in Christ.

    You say most work outside the home....ok...what do you expect those that are single to do? Be a housewife? Sorry, can't do! Be a housekeeper? Can't do, where they going to get money to keep the home?

    Trumpet, what you said was very, rude, to put it bluntly....The reason why these women don't want to get out of their pants is because they have no reason to...couldn't you replace pants with dresses and still be correct? I'm sure quite a few would agree with me.

    I think this topic should read "**************!" Perhaps this should be placed in the pentecostal section of the board.

    I wear jeans too Helen. And I wear jogging pants too.

    NO one has ever said, "You know Sherrie you look just like a man." I wear my dresses too, to go to church because they cost more too. I am sorry, I do not own a see through blouse or even a pair of see through pants.

    When I was witnessing for the Lord in the Emergency Room of the hospital where my late husband was, No one ever said, "Lady you are just too unchristian for me to listen to, because you are wearing jogging pants."

    When I visit the nursing home in my jeans as well as my dresses, I am accepted in the same way. When I talk to strangers in the grocery store...people do not say "Lady you are a harlot, or not very modest for a Christian, I cannot talk to you."

    You do not get to decide what is the right way to have my relationship with God.

    Ok...get this....Now listen...I have said this before.......Its gonna shock you.......

    ......I take a bath naked. I have prayed in my batthtub naked! Hiding behind nothing. Just me and God.

    You all have the nerve to say I am wrong because I wear pants. You don't even know me. You try to push your ideas on me. You put it on every other thread and force me to read it. If I want to be on this board I have to listen to this babel. Its in the Womens thread. So I stay away from it rather than argue. So then you take it to the poll forum under hair. AND I am sure WisdomSeeker meant no harm when she made that poll. But you twisted it to fit your needs. AND degraded a young girl there for cutting her hair and giving it to help someone. So now I am staying away from there. You have taken it to other places to and I am sick of it.

    Impressionable people come here. And they never post. They just read this ******* over and over. Then they say if this is something you have to do to have a relationship with God well then I don't know. So then as Christians how do I, or you have an opportunity to truly witness and tell them about Jesus. Because all they are seeing is your rules for a dress code. That makes no difference when coming to the Lord. These people have enough bagage, they don't need any more.

    Then I also read on this thread, someone said men should not wear kilts. What a major joke. You do not know what you are even saying. Its all *****. Do you even know what kilts were wore for? It has nothing to do with cross dressing.

    Then you want to take into this mess being submissive. Throw some head geer in on it too. well now we have really made some regulations now for being a real Christian haven't we. No wonder people want no part of going to church. Look at this mess. And there is no way out of it. Everyone is stiff knecked and no one is breaking. Everyone is right. And the sad thing everyone is suffering.

    No where in the Bible (and you have not given scriture at all) says women cannot wear jeans, pants, or anything like it. No where says we cannot have a relationship with God because we do wear pants.

    Ok you feel convicted to do so. You read a book. A book in which it told you you should not wear pants and this is what convicted you. And the book took scripture to show you how the books opinion was right.

    People take scripture everyday and twist it to be what they want.

    The truth of the matter is it says to dress modest. You decided it was a dress that makes you modest.

    To tell the truth on some other things, according to alot of certain people post here on this forum, and other forums, they are living according to Little House on the Prairie. This is also called Amnish, or Mennonite. I lived by them for years, and this is some of their traits.

    I would like to ask whoever allows the different forums that this kind of thread get its own place so its not constantly throwed in my face. I am sick of it.

    If a woman came into your church wearing bike shorts, obviously having been out on a bike ride just before she came in, would you welcome her? Escort her to a seat? Make sure she fills out a visitor's card?

    Again, as I mentioned to Katie, this is false logic.

    No where in the Bible does it mention the word "Trinity"; but I'll bet you don't question that.

    Brothers and Sisters this kind reminder to be nice is only a day old and it has been trampled on several times. I locked the thread so I could catch up on all the uglyness that had been posted today. I will give everyone an opportunity to edit their remarks, let's say 24 hours. I started to Pm everyone who I felt needed to remove something they wrote but that would have took quite a while as I feel the list is long. If you feel this doesn't apply to your posts I urge you to take a second and even third look. After the opportunity to edit yourself has past I will finish the needed editing, I Pray that all parties will search their hearts and remove anything that is not becoming a christian.

    You responded to my post concerning kilts...

    I beg the differ, you in fact have made my point my mentioning "culture". It is within the scope of our culture for women to wear pants.

    To prove this point go to a JC Penny's (or whatever) department store, go to the "women's apparel section and buy a pair of slacks that fit you and wear them in public.
    See my point, women's pants are feminine in style in our culture and "pretain" to a woman and you wouldn't wear them. For one thing the zippers are not in the correct places.

    Let's summarize, those who wear dresses only have posted scripture to back up their belief. Those who don't believe in dress only have stated their opinion and have used other means to discredit what scripture that pertains to this issue. Is it a matter of doing what the scripture says or what we want to do?

    Once again let's see what God says pertaining to this issue:
    Deut 22: 5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.
    1Tim 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
    Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

    If you recall in the beginning God gave Adam and Eve one commandment, it was Eve who was deceived by Satan whom enticed her by discrediting what God had said. After Eve tried the fruit she liked it and then gave to her husband and he liked it also. But when the stood in the presence of God, they knew they were wrong. Be careful people that you are not decieved. If you have thoroughly studied this out and have sought the Lord in prayer and still believe it is okay for you to wear pants, then have at it. But if you have not done this, I suggest you do.

    Wearing a dress is not a matter of salvation but a matter of sanctification and growth in the Lord. Based on your testimonies you are saying, I like where I am at I don't intend to go further in my walk with the Lord. Make sure this is not your testimony before the Lord.

    God wants us to have an appearance seperate from a man, He wants us to have behaviour that becomes holiness, He wants us to be discreet, He wants us to be peculiar people for the world to see, He doesn't want us to blaspheme His name. Think about it.

    For those reading, the words babel, garbage, and cult were what was removed by "preach the word" from my post.

    And there has been NO scripture to back up anything. There was no words that said women could not wear pants.

    If you do not want me to respond to this thread then don't put it in every forum.

    I do have a right to my opinion the same as preach the word does. There was no foul language in my post. Their were no direct insults in my post. It was my opinion that was not the same!

    I do not think "preach the word" should NOT be editing other threads when he is the one who is joining in and casting his opinions.

    Yes, I was surprised, too. I had been reared in,
    and attended for over 50 years, a church which
    taught that women could only wear dresses and
    skirts. This teaching really chaffed me, because
    I felt so uncovered, so exposed in dresses. So
    when they excommunicated me, one of the first
    things I did was replace all those skirts and
    dresses with nice pants and suits.

    Now, all that time I had been going there, I had
    been taught that the way we were to look dif-
    ferent from "the world" was that we were to wear
    skirts, not wear makeup, not wear jewelry, and
    keep our hair somewhat longish. (Funny--the
    men just wore the same things as "the world"
    did and had no clothing-restrictions placed
    upon them. Hm-m-m-m! Could this be
    because it was the men, not the women, who
    made the rules?)

    So there I stood in the front office of a large
    office building downtown, wearing my pants,
    some makeup, and my jewelry, when a day-
    worker, who had no idea who I was and whom
    I was seeing for the first time ever, walked up
    to my desk and asked, "You're a Christian,
    aren't you?"

    In my mind, I did a double-take, considering I
    had been taught that believing women wore
    dresses, no makeup, and no jewelry, and there
    I stood with all of the above on.

    Rather than going into a long theological explan-
    ation of my beliefs, and based upon the fact that
    most Christians who know me insist that I am
    Christian, I responded, "Yes." And he began to
    pour out a long, difficult story, asking me to pray
    for him.

    This was my first introduction to the fact that it
    is not what uniform we wear that shows that we
    are believers: it is the Spirit of a very Holy God
    who is either present or not present in a life.
    Since then, others have approached me in a
    similar manner on occasion, but not once has
    any Christian approached me with the idea that
    I was in need of salvation. I would suggest,
    however, that perhaps the reason no Christian
    has ever approached me may be because we
    believers are not doing our jobs getting the
    word out.

    No, I don't wear Christian jewelry. 8o) And I
    don't recall specifically having my Bible with
    me when approached, and I certainly did not
    have it with me on that very frist time I was
    approached while wearing pants; I was working.

    Neither, however, can spirituality be measured by
    whether or not someone approaches one and
    asks for prayer! Perhaps I have just happened
    to be in particular places where it can happpen.

    WOW, I cannot believe all this discussion in such a short time. When one asks serious questions about prayer, salvation, important ways to live a Christian life...the response is very short and over with in less than a day.

    I wear dresses, I wear pants, I wear shorts. I always dress modestly. I am not treated any differently in a dress than in pants. I am certainly not made fun of when I wear a dress. I think it is all in the attitude.

    Recently, my husband and I went to a concert. I was the only one there in a dress. I was not making a statement. I wanted to wear a dress. No one thought anything of it.

    Again, if you are made fun of because you are wearing dresses, then it is your attitude!!!!

    I would like to see us discuss other issues as much as this... I am especially interested in prayer.

    I don't understand why Sherrie could not state how she felt, believed, etc., but it was ok for HCL to do so.

    Loving our Lord, serving our Lord, praising our Lord, all are more important than if we wear a dress or not to do it.

    No one here is mocking or making fun of HCL or the others who wear dresses. But it seems that it might be the reverse about women to wear pants.

    The pants that we wear are made for women.

    I agree with Helen and others, lets discuss more important things.

    The same scripture that you are using to justify wearing a dress can be used by women who wear pants!!!

    Preach the Word: I am normally a very compassionate person. I have been known to say just how I feel. And I thought I was doing so with much regard to others. I am not saying anything about HCL. What I am saying is this whole thing is wrong.

    It doesn't matter if you wear a dress or pants. God gave His Son. We wear His blood. And you can grow in Christ wearing a dress or wearing pants.

    Stop forcing your way on me and others. That is what I am saying to HCL. Its just like fasting. You do it just between you and God. NOt saying Look at me, I am wearing a dress. My relationship with God is better than yours.

    Normally this is not an issue with me. I could really care less if she wears pants or a dress. But you have forced this on me. You have made it my issue when it is posted on every forum. And it doesn't stop there....She gives web sites out to people so they would please order tapes and literature for them to at least consider her way. That is wrong.

    There are new Christians who read these forums. I want them to know about Jesus. About how Jesus loves us no matter what we wear. About how even Christians who wear jeans grow in the Lord. I wear Dresses. I wear jeans.

    But certainly my friend...The scripture they keep giving is not anything that directly says not to wear pants. Yes we are to be modest and set be apart from the rest of the world. But we are planted in the middle of this world to be an example. And I am so sure God would not deny someone a relationship due to wearing pants. Or deny a growing relationship due to pants. And her constantly saying you can not grow in Christ until you wear dresses all the time is wrong no matter how you word it, or say it, or spell it.

    Now it is very much on the Pentecostal line. You really cannot deny that it isn't. I think the whole topic is wrong. Maybe Mickes posted this thread out of curiosity...but boy she was right there to stir the pot.
