Psalm 83:18

    :confused: Can anyone explain Psalm 83:18 to me?
    I admit I don't know my bible as well as I should and I had never read this before, nor have I ever heard any preaching on this verse. I was not aware God's name was Jehovah...??? :confused:

    Indeed God's proper name is Jehoveh or Yahweh.

    When God told Moses that He was "I am" it is a form of this name. Many Bibles traslate the proper name as "LORD" (all capitalized). Any time you read "LORD" the real word is the name.

    The Jews considered God's name so holy ("do not use the LORD's name in vain") that they refused to say it. That is why we are not sure of the exact pronunciation (Hebrew alphabet did not originally have any vowells).

    What we do know is that the name has the consonants YHWH (JHVH is german form).

    That is not exactly true.

    Jehoveh is God.

    We know/experience God in three persons: Father Son and Holy Spirit. It would be the same as saying that Jehoveh is the Holy Spirit.

    See what I mean?
