List of Sins?

    Can this board produce a list of sins that pretty much prove a person is not a Christian? How about these too:

    - Anger (wanna bomb some dark skinned middle easterners, snap at your kids, still holding a grudge against your mom for something that happened decades ago?)
    - Greed (didja check out the stock ticker when the markets opened back up, have a lot in the bank, looking forward to an early retirement?)
    - Sloth (put in a full 8 hours today, take a long break, sleep in?)
    - Drunkenness (know anybody who occasionally has one too many, how about occasionally has just one?)
    - Sabbath violation (like to watch football, engage in business?)
    - Sexual Promiscuity ( ... )
    - Gossip

    And then, when we get identify all the non-Christians, we can have a party!

    ....gluttony. There are surely a few "fat Baptists" out there who set a terrible example for our Lord (but praise God I don't! I work out and maintain a slim figure!)
    ....smoking. Self explanatory. (again, something I sure don't do)

    Christians are capable of the same sins as non-Christians. We are just forgiven.

    There is no such list that exists in the bible, only in our minds. All Sin, All fall short. Christians sin as well as non-Christians. Sin, or the lack thereof does not make you Christian.

    There's only one sin -- well, maybe two. Eve showed us.

    1. Adding to or subtracting from God's Word (she was not told not to 'touch' the tree)
    2. Disobeying God's clear commands (the law as we know it)

    Both of these come under 'rebellion'.

    Everything else is symptomatic, like spots on chicken pox.

    The problem is, all natural hearts have this spiritual chicken pox. The other problem is that Christians occasionally get pimples that look a lot like chicken pox....grin.

    It is not clear (at least to me) what might be the the point of this list, but here is a list :


    1 Corinthians 6:
    9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
    10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

    Paul goes on to say "such WERE some of you".
    The implication being that they no longer practiced those sins.

    That’s a loaded question.

    Salvation is not what you do or don’t do salvation is knowing the Lord.
    Sure Christians can and do commit sin and I’m sure that there are professing Christians who are not in fact saved(That is righteousness has never been imputed to them).

    John 17:3
    And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

    Romans 4:5-8
    But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
    Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
    Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
    Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

    How about you, my friend, Do you know the Lord? Are you Blessed?

    Are we picking sins or what??

    I hate to say, I fare well in several sins, but my Savior fares better with his blood.

    What a great covering.

    How easy it must be to make a list of others sins. Now how about a list of your own sins. Instead of drawing attention to others sin, if it bothers you, try praying for them instead of gossiping that others have sins, they may not be your sins, but you have your own share of them too.
    God knew we would still be prone to sin, that we would still sin, we would never be perfect in this life in the flesh. He perpered for it and gave us instructions.

    1John 1:
    8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

    1John is written to chritians, and we know he is talking to us, christians, he even includes himself, a christian, when he says 'we'.
    Instead of complaining, pray. It's not up to you to point out to others the sins of others.

    Sure you may not be guilty of this, but what are you guilty of? God hates sin, ant sin. Any sins seperated us from Him, and all sins are equal with everyother. They seperate.
    So what is your terrable example of for God?
    Maybe gossip, or judgement?
    If this bothers you then maybe you could be more help if you prayed.
    And maybe God will bless you with someone willing to pray for you and your sins.

    Since we have 1John1:9, commiting as sin does not prove someone is not a sin. As scripture says all have sinned, and in this verse(1Jn.1:9) we can see none of us are beyond sin.

    Is this supose to say they are not christians, as this list was supose to prove you weren't really a christian if you perticular sin was on this list.

    Is this all you can do with your time? Have you nothing better to do?
    You could start with prayer.

    Whenever I do get up and preach, the first thing I remind the people in the congregation that I'm about to point out things to is, yes, I'm pointing a finger at you...but don't forget that that means there's three more pointing back at me....

    Personally I was answering the topic of the thread "LIST OF SINS?".

    People are getting angry and judgemental (without a cause imo) just because the following challenge was put forth by Daniel Davidson and subsequently answered.

    I posted the list in 1 Corinthians 6 without comment which the Spirit of God ended by stating that those who do these things will not inherit the kingdom of God. It is not an isolated case. Here is another from Galatians 5 which clearly states "they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God" in answer to David's challenge which turns out to be negative because the Word of God is always negative when it comes to sin. Are we getting upset with the one who posted it or the scripture itself or the God who inspired the Scripture?
    Please note that this time I included the positive as well.

    Galatians 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
    19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
    20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
    21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
    22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
    23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
    24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
    25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
    26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
