Getting to Know You

Well Sir:
I hate to ruin the image you have of me,
but I don't drive a Taurus, though I do drive
a Ford....Truck that is. 92 Ranger. Its manditory to have a truck in these hills, &
have'nt run across a good CHEVY for other transportation!
I have tons of family, spread across N.C.,
Tenn, Ga.& S.C. I guess we favor the south,
huh?
I met my Bride of 19 months after the Lord had me pack my belongings & move back to Andrews from HighPoint in 99'.
We started getting to know each other at the place we worked, then started seeing each other,& a month later we were married!
Niether of us have been married before, but
she has a son who turned 18 last Feb.
I would ask you all to pray for him, he,s lost & will tell you in a heartbeat he's got no use for God. His name is Jerry, & I thank you in advance.
My wife? Her name is Agatha Jean. She was born again just prior to our union. I pick & joke about her height all the time, 4' 10'',
but she has a heart & spirit bigger than most. Next to my Lord, she IS the best friend
I have. I tell the Lord often he did REAL good!!
Oh, she does'nt drive anything,cept' me...crazy!

Well, I use to drive a white, 1984 Limited Edition Ford Mustang with t-tops. Ah, those were the days!

Then came the babies. Since then it's been vans, vans, vans! Actually, just two vans. The one I'm currently driving is 7 years old. A Ford Windstar . . . it's been a really good van!

BTW, my husband still drives a Mustang . . . this is his third one. A beautiful red. And do you believe he won't let me drive it!?!?! I'm just outraged!

Thanks for asking Dr. Bob! Well, since my beloved wife wanted to have a new car and totally wrecked the 1992 green Toyota Corolla Wagon (she fell asleep behind the wheels but thank God she escaped injury) we had, I was compelled to purchase a used car (all we could afford), a 1996 red Ford Taurus Wagon, with motorized sun-roof and all the extras. The lady of the house is happy ever since!

Preacher, I enjoyed reading your little testimony there. We sure will pray for your son that the Lord soften his heart, and open his eyes that he may see His saving grace!

KeeperOfMyHome, we are so sorry that you can not drive the Ford Mustang. What a let down! A women of your stature is born to drive a Mustang. So, what are you going to do about it?!

 

A Forest Green 1994 Dodge Caravan ! Don't forget about the 2 car seats in the back.

My husband drives a 1986 Firebird- a regular "Bondo-mobile!" He bought it from a work buddy for 200 bucks about 4 months ago, the 3rd or 4th "junker" in the last 2 years! He does have noble goals for it though; he has been working on the body and wants to get it refinish it in black like the original "Knight Rider"!

I learned to drive on a 1978 Buick Station Wagon. It was gold in color.

At one time, we had four carseats in our van!

I learned to drive on a 1980-something Chevette, 4-speed . . . dad said I couldn't get my drivers license until I could drive a stick shift! Good rule to have.

 

It should come to no surprise to anyone that until very recently I drove a Volkswagen van. Sadly, the maintenance was just too expensive, so now I drive a Ford Focus Station Wagon (complete with ever-present car seat). Thank God there have never been four in it. I value what little sanity I have.

My wife drives a Nissan Pickup.

Oh, and I learned to drive in an '83 (?)Mitsubishi Tredia. Sadly, I didn't also learn about the importance of oil in engine maintenance. That car was followed by a '72 Ford LTD that was 18 feet long and 6 feet wide.

I am rather frugal...uh, a tightwad...OK, I hate to part with money! Fortunately, my husband is the same way!

I drive a 1993 Ford Tempo with 55,000 actual miles on it. We bought it from my mother-in-law after her husband died. She never learned how to drive!

My husband drives a 1985 Chevy Cavalier that we bought from our mechanic and was owned by a neighbor. It has 44,000 actual miles on it.

They are ugly, but thay are paid for We rented a Chevy Blazer for our vacation to Monteal for more room and to save on wear and tear.

 

Until may I drove a 1990 Hyundia Excel with about 71,000 miles on it. It failed to start one day and after the garage worked on it for 4 hours free of charge they pronounced it dead. I was then given the priviledge of driving our other car, a 1990 Plymouth Voyager with just over 167000 miles on it.

Since it was my car that died it was only right that my wife got the new (to us anyway) 20000 Dodge Neon with 25,000 miles on it. Im sure it works the same for everyone else.

I learned to drive in a 1977 Ford Pinto.

You must not live in Atlanta. We put 30,000 miles a year on our vehicles. I envy you the low mileage.

Actually, we will not be able to keep the annual mileage as low as it has been. But, our commute is not as bad as yours!

Covington, Kentucky is actually directly across the Ohio river from Cincinnati (home of that really yukky chili someone mentioned on another thread) . I drive about 14 miles to work and my husband drives 2 miles to work. I grew up near Chicago, and I used to have the kind of commute you have. I miss Wrigley Field, the Art Institute, and the Blues, but I sure don't miss the commute .

Yes, It worked for me like that. I drive a 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage with 79000 miles, my wife drives a 2000 Nissan Xterra with 49000 miles on it. The Xterra was for me, but the car is more fuel efficient and my wife doesn't work so I drive the car.

I learned how to drive on a 1979 Chevy Chevette. It was the best thing I ever saw on gas mileage, but if I was going up a hill, I had better floor it to get up. Then came the 79 Pontiac Trans-Am Pitiful on gas, lots of power and a babe magnet. Hey, I was very lost in sin at that time.
But Praise God! I am not anymore.

I can't even imagine a two mile commute. When we our son was born, I decided to stay home with him. But, he and I log a lot of miles just travelling for the clergy association for which I'm the coordinator. My wife has a larger than usual commute even for Atlanta. We live on one side of the city, and she now works on the (far) other side.

Well, this may get complicated. I own but seldom drive a 1997 Lincoln Towncar. I also have a 1997 Ford F150 XLT Lariat pickup truck. And a full size Dodge van when we need a lot of seats. However, my primary means of transportation are my two motorcycles. A 1998 Virago V250 and a 1999 Intruder V800.

The Lincoln is getting a lot of miles on it (we average 30,000 per year in southern California, or I should say my wife does, as I seldom drive it) and my wife is having a fit about me wanting to trade it off. She looked at the new Lincolns and pronounced them ugly as sin! She looked at the new Cadillacs and didn't like them either. Now she is looking at a Rolls Royce Silver Spur. [I think I may need to find a part time job!]

 

My husband commutes to Atlanta daily. On his last Mustang, which he drove over 12 years, he logged over 200,000 miles! I'm thinking it was actually closer to 225,000 miles, but I can't remember. It's still sitting in the drive way. Funny thing . . . nobody wanted to give him much for it, so he kept it! Imagine that!

My van has just over 100,000 miles. It has it's problems, but it gets us where we need to go. However, Lord willing, we'll be renting a van for our drive to Mississippi.

Does she work on the north, south, east, or west side of Atlanta? I think it would be worse living north of Atlanta and having to drive south to your job. Hubby doesn't usually have to deal with really bad traffic, PTL!

 

I currently drive a 1994 Honda Accord fully loaded station wagon, God's gift to me a few years ago .. . it has a sun and moon roof, CD player, four doors, cruise, AC, champaigne in color, with about 127,000 miles on it and many more before I trade it in for a Honda Odyssey six cylinder van .. . . .

It is no hunk magnet . .. but hey.... .

I learned to drive in a 65 Ford Falcon, though it was in the late 70's that I learned to drive, and my first car was a 64 plymouth Valient, slant 6 engine (like I know what that means. .. )

I have also driven two Datsuns, which I wrecked, and two other Hondas, one of which I wrecked and one I traded in before it blew on me . .. . .

 

I drive a 1995 Mitsibishi Marage with 55,000 miles on it. I just got it 3 months ago. It has an AC that doesn't work and a dealer that refuses to fix it (even though he promised he would when I bought it). Before that I drove a 1991 Ford Escort until it died at 250,000 miles. My lovely wife drives a 2000 Chevy Cavaler with 15,000 mile, CD player and very cold AC that we bought the same time we got mine. Before that she drove a 1998 Ford Escort that we traded for both cars. Before that she had a 1988 Nissan Sentra that died at 100000000000 miles .
I learned to drive in my first car, a 1978 Mercury Marque, it was puke green and drove like a tank.
