Where does one find the "Christian" programming?

Where can one go to find Christian programming. I think I have effectively expressed my views on the Passion. In the case of that movie, it would be the same for me if I went to see "Bruce Almighty". TBN, to me, is obviously a religious "circus" of sorts, as well as many of the other "religious" television programs. When we get to satellite, there is Sky Angel, which also, in my opinion, has debatable programming. So I ask the forum.....where does one go?

You might have to check your local programs on Sunday…. I have digital cable and I get quite a few good Christian programs… Adrian Rogers is one I would recommend to anyone…. He comes on CBN every Sunday and 12:00 P. M. ….. Mountain time…..

S & T --- you can go to AFR (American Family Radio) There's some preaching(they generally have weeded out the Health & Wealth boys and girls preachers and preacher-etts) They have a somewhat "Easy Listening" music program and a few "Talk Show" things

I don't. A friend of mine has it. She told me about it, I did some brief looking into it, and decided against it.

The reason that I am asking, is that it appears that Sky Angel has some programs currently running by a man named Michael Rood, who has made many anti christian statements, and has also not spoken very favorably of Baptists. You can read the complete series about him starting here:

    http://www.seekgod.ca/rood.htm

Here is an excerpt from part two of the series:

In one cassette tape, recorded in 1997-98, where he could so easily have explained his involvement of the Way, and declared that he repented and rejected it, instead Michael stated,

    Tape: Doctrine of the Nicolaitains

"....format of a cult...some cults have good cult leaders some have bad cult leaders...I belonged to a cult, I grew up in a cult, the Baptist church...we were taught and believed in the baptism of water but any time any scriptures were about the baptism of the spirit, speaking in tongues, interpretation of  prophecy, any of these things, we said we believed the whole Bible but guess what,  we never read that part... now that is ...a cult format. We say we believe the whole Bible but there's something' s that we step past real fast. 1 Cor 12:13, 14 I never learned until I got out of that particular group. Now is the Baptist church a bad cult? Well, It depends I guess ...they aren't giving people poison, and telling them to go meet a space ship that's following a comet, heh, ...it's not that far out but...this kind of structure exists in a lot of ways in a lot of areas..."

Wile I agree with you, and generally don't support TBN, I do appreciate the existence of the same, and appreciate the variety of programming they allow on the air. They don't try to "push" any specific Christian agenda. The result, of course, is some programming I like, and some I don't. I prefer that to the alternative, warts and all.

I have Sky Angel too. But I do not like 90% of the programming. Really, the only thing that I watch is "Way of the Master". It is really good.

I must disagree. While some mainstream evangelists have programs, prime time is dedicated to Word of Faith preachers. It's especially obvious during pledge time.

FamilyNet (owned by the Southern Baptist Convention) is the least objectionable channel I've run across.

The best Christian programming is found in scripture. If you will spend the same amount in the Bible as you do watching preachers you will be much better off. I don't listen to any TV preachers anyomre because you will find yourself quoting them instead of the Bible.

Well, does the Church slide past those scriptures? I'm not Baptist...thank you for letting me in. BTW, I have Sky Angel and LOVE IT. I guess you have to not be Baptist to like Sky Angel, oh, and by the way, I'm not overly impressed by TBN and like the Liberty Channel, which is from Mr. Fawell. Go figure. If you have secular TV, you owe it to your family to also have Sky Angel.

Incredible! You only watch "Way of the Master?" That is a great show, how about Word Pictures? Same producer. How about Know the Cause or the other health shows? How about Live from Liberty? or At Home? or the classic programs on Sky Angel, Mr. Ed, Green Acres, Lassie? I could go on and on.

Well, there's no question, the ONLY outlet for Christian TV is Sky Angel, there's no other choice. You can go to digital cable and pay $70 or more for maybe 2-5 Christian channels, but remember where your money is going, MTV, VH1, E, etc.

With Sky Angel you can get Liberty, a Souther Baptist channel (Family Net)affiliate channel, as well as Faith TV and other Family Net affiliate channels. It's a no brainer... get it.

    Spirit and Truth,

My question to you is, why the need for "christian" programming if you have the Word of God?

Instead of the term 'Christian programming', what about 'Christian Friendly Programming'?

We've checked out some movies and games and watched for the words, Christian Friendly. No 'witchcraft', cuss words, etc.

This is one of the best ways to spend Sunday, when you can't get to church. It is interdenominational and just plain wonderful. [IMG]

We have had numerous people, worldwide, to e-mail our church to say that they have given their lives to the Lord.
