If You Were The Prophet Jeremiah

    If you were the Prophet Jeremiah what did you mean when you said,

    'At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the Name of the Lord, to Jerusalem; neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.' [Jeremiah 3:17]

    At no time in the history of the Judeo-Christian religion have people called Jerusalem, 'the throne of the Lord.' Moreover, at no time has anyone called for the nations of the world to come and worship at Jerusalem. The Prophet Jeremiah also says, that at some time people will ' . . . not walk after the imaginations of their own minds.' [Jeremiah 3:17]

    If the above paragraph is true then the day when these events will take place must be in the future. No one would disagree that the Jews are not re-gathering to Israel in our day. And what does the prophet say? 'And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, they will no longer say, there is 'the ark of the covenant of the Lord.' [vs.16]

    Some theologians think that when the Great Tribulation and/or theMillennial Temple is built they will suddenly find the Ark of the Covenant of old, but apparently this is not going to happen because it was lost in 587 B.C., and God will not have a use for it in the future times beyond our times. This idea is warranted in Jeremiah 3:16 d,e,f,g,h,i. Why won't our Lord have need of the Ark? Because the Ark represented Him under the O.T. covenant and during the Millennium Christ will have replaced the Ark, [Ezekiel 48:35c] because He will be on the earth and in Jerusalem. Proof text; just one tonight and it is Zechariah chapter fourteen. And Who do you think will be seated on the throne in Jerusalem; no one other than Jesus Christ our Lord. [Zechariah 14:16-17]

    #1. This is one of the many places showing in the OT - that world-wide gentile evangelism was the "purppose" of Israel even from the very start.

    #2. In the New Earth - was see this fulfilled in perfect peace and sinless harmony with the New Jerusalem constituting that city of the Lord on earth.

    A real place, with real angels and a real God.

    Acts 13:46 says, 'It was necessary that the Word of God should first have been spoken to you . . . . I have set thee (meaning Israel) to be a light to the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.' This concept is also mentioned in John 1:11-12.

    Thanks for your insight in your post; it is appreciated. Again you have remained Scriptural in your views, which we do not always enjoy on the board.
