Acts 8:30-31 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

Acts 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

Philip did not have any red letters; only the Old Testament. He using only the Book of Isaiah, led the eunuch to salvation in Jesus Christ. One is not required to stick to the New Testament to witness of Christ.

Some could interpret Jesus' teachings that there is only "one way" and that is his, as "don't reinvent the wheel" or maybe "I don't need to be paraphrased."

    Amen, DHK!!

In fact, I have preached Christ in the Exodus of God's children from Egypt. Moses was told to speak to the rock and water would issue forth. We find in the New Testament that that rock was Christ.

Christ can be found in every book of the Old Testament if one truly is seeking Him. And in every book of the New as well.

I like to look at the Old Testament as the Testimony of Jesus Christ (Search the scriptures for in them ye think ye have eternal life; but these are they that testify of me. John 5:39), and the New Testament as the Witness that Christ has come. That Christ is He that was lived, died, and is alive forevermore!!

There is no logic, my brother.

And with that, I bow out.

My point exactly, This is to suggest Paul's words should NOT be taken as just a valuable as Christ's. According to Timothy, "there is profit" from other scripture. This is true no doubt, but Christ's Word's are so easily repeated and so effective, that i find I rarely need any others.

His way is above reproach, but I can't say the same for Paul. His writings have been very controversial and I no longer defend him.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
--Hmmm, red letters. Jesus started at the beginning of the books of Moses (Genesis), went through all the prophets (historical and prophetic books), and the psalms (a word designated to refer to all the poetical books. This verse indicates that Christ went through all the prophecies in all the Old Testament concerning himself. It indicates that he considered all the Old Testament as the inspired Word of God and used it. Remember these verses are in red letters, and put their stamp of approval on the Old Testament.

What else did Christ say about the Old Testament Scriptures:
John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
--We are commanded to search them. They testify of Christ. He said this when the New Testament was not yet written.

John 5:46-47 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
--The question he asks of the Pharisees and others he asks of you:
Why don't you believe Moses and his writings? If you believed Moses, you would believe Christ.
Logically those that do not believe the books of Moses do not believe in Christ. All the Bible is inspired. The Christ that we are called on to believe in is the God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The entire Word of God is inspired, not just a part of it.

Well, Curtis, my Brother, at least we got a laugh. I guess it is ok to laugh. God's Word says He laughed at ignorance in times past, and we are His, so I guess we can laugh from time to time.

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.

Search Christ's example of living. Do you see such behavior?

We can laugh. But I cannot imagine Christ telling anyone that certain parts of scripture can be done away with.....'specially since he wrote 'em.

I think an excellent picture of Christ in the O/T is the episode with Abraham & Isaac, the ram caught in the thickets.....or, a substitutionary sacrifice provided by God the father.

Another one is the lamb's blood over the home entrances, the passover.

Another one is the fourth man in the fire.

    It's full of them.

Some people here twist my words beyond recognition. Again, I do not promote the deletion of the rest of the Bible. I simply FOCUS on the RED LETTERS.

If you looked beyond your jokes, you might notice in my profile, my favorite verse is John 1:1

SB, in the future, please refrain from sending your hateful remarks to my wife in pm's.

I see you have a sock-puppet. Your wife, for the record has defended your childish attacks. I have said nothing here or in PMs that is hateful. But, try looking at your own posts. Christlike?

Below is the letter I wrote to one unidentified person about whom someone refers as his wife. I have nothing to hide, but PMs are more appropriate for rebuke.

"This is exactly what PMs are for not to talk about people but to them about things that have nothing to do with others. Your suggestion I leave is exactly the kind of hateful thing of which I discussed. Well, that doesn't work here. You can be rude all you like, and I will not stoop the your level. Waving me off with a smile is passive aggressive and rude. Please don't address me again. Do I have that right? Yes. It's called ignoring you.

You have an interesting way of introducing yourself.

I am sure Christ loves you and in his honor, so do I, but clearly I wouldn't invite you to tea after church.

    Bryan"

No, it might be time for enforcement of site rules. Then we can lovingly continue to discuss the thread.

However, without objection, I think I have heard the same scripture from Timothy quoted many times here, as if repeating yourself changes someone's mind. Try this when witnessing; see what happens. If the thread is closed, it would be because of the regular laugh-riot to which many here have become accustomed.

</font>[/QUOTE]Uh... He said that it was the message he sent you. Obviously he was aware that he posted it in the public forum. Your husband accused him of sending hateful messages to you, of which that wasn't. According to BB rules when we have disagreements with someone we are to take it to the PM's. You attacked him in public, as have many here, and for what? You have doctrinal differences. I am positive that my God would not condone these petty attacks. It is quite ridiculous. Seems to me he followed the rules by confronting you in a pm. Why did you and the others have to make it public? Not very Christlike in my book, but who am I?
