Different approaches to this question.

Calvinist: Define "here"

Baptist: I'm not sure yet. Is there food involved if I say yes?

Methodist: It's all a matter of interpretation.

My grandmother: Oy vey! You vaste your time on this silly question! Are you tolking to me? Then I'm heeyah! Now go give your grandfathah a hug, he's going to bed, and here's $20 for a candy bar tomorrow for you. Are you here, here, oy, the questions this girl comes up with, it wan't like this when I was little, always with the questions these kids today ahh, it hurts my head just to think about it!"

Catholic: Yes my child. Go ahead and light a candle for me.

Charismatic: Raises both hands.<br>
TV Evangelist: Operators are standing by now to answer your question! Pick up that phone and call!

Mormon I'd tell you the truth, but I don't think you're ready for it. Let me ask someone in higher authority exactly what I should say in this situation, and I'll get back to you.

Crazy stalker next door neighbor: Yes! Don't you know by now I never go away???

ROFL! :D

After your unfortunate laundry episode, we understand your disorientation.

Sometime, ask me about the time I ripped the seat of my pants at the county courthouse and had to drive to Kmart to find a sewing kit and hide myself in the bathroom until I could get the rip (semi) repaired.

It seems to me, a tear would -not be so bad. I remember the night J. Sidlow Baxter was preaching at The People's Church in Toronto. His braces (suspenders) released and his trousers fell to his knees. Dr. Smith, the pastor, immediately called the people to prayer.

I often remembered that night and decided that the biblical exhortation that "two things are better than one." (Ecclesiates 4:9...out of context) I always wear a belt and braces

Cheers,

Jim

Jim 1999,

That is funny! Nothing like that ever happens where I go to church.

It is when you have to make the rounds to all the county officials' offices and keep your notebook over the rip. (Which was total, by the way.)

Certainly not as bad as losing them entirely, though. Reminder; Must stay away from tool belts.

What did they pray for? Good thing he didn't have the choir sing; If "Open My Eyes, That I May See" was the selection, it could've gotten ugly.

Oh my goodness, Jim! My husband and Sidlow were good friends, and we are still in touch with his widow, Isa. She will love this anecdote, so I hope you don't mind my passing it on to her! She is in her nineties now, and still sharp as a tack with all the personality and wit that must have attracted Sidlow in the first place!

Helen:

Not at all! I am sure she would remember with fondness. Bless her. It happened in either the 50's or early 60's. My memory fails me here, but Dr. Oswald J. Smith was still senior pastor of the famous People's Church and it was a prophetic conference at the church.

I mention J. Sidlow Baxter with fondness, and no disprespect intended. We English have a way of laughing at ourselves. I think that is what got us through the war years.

The People's Church seated over a 1000 so there was a rather large audience for a Canadian church.

I have a goodly number of Baxter's books, even though I am not dispensational, and still refer to them.

Cheers,

Jim

I am not new here, but it's been a while since I have posted. [IMG]

On edit: It works but my picture does not show up in the message, but it does appear in my profile.

How do I get my photo to show up in the message, anybody?

God bless,

Oh, I'm here! :D

Last week I wasn't because my whole extended family was staying in our house for a week - 8 extra adults (2 parents, 2 brothers and their wives) and 4 extra little children. All over from England except my mother who lives on the East Coast. I took my children out of school to be with everyone. (I put a picture we had taken of everyone on my update page on my site; the four left-most people - two adults, two children - are my immediate family)

This week I've been washing sheets and towels and thinking how quiet it seems!

Oh, my daughter is getting baptized a week from Sunday! [IMG]

I always cry when someone gets baptized. I don't even have to know them. It just gives me great joy.

Your daughter is getting baptized! Praise God!
