But that is life in the Ozarks. I grew up around Chicago and this would only be considered flurries. But oh well

When Vivian and I lived in Granite Falls, Minnesota, we got several FEET of snow on Halloween Eve and Halloween day. It didn't stop the kids from having school, and it definitely didn't stop them from going trick-or-treating. The snow was so hard frozen from the cold that the kids and parents could actually walk on top of it. It was like that most of the winter we lived there. Now, down here in Tennessee you even mention snow and everything comes to a halt! Store stock is wiped out (including Wal-mart, and they have a distribution center within 5 miles or so of our house) and Sams. I think the reaction like that comes from the fact that they've had so many storms like this and the power is usually out for several days to weeks. Many, like us, live in ultra rural areas and would be trapped for days and weeks.

I grew up just an hour or so North of Sue (I Am Blessed 16) in Pekin, Illinois, so these kinds of things don't bother me a bit.

Well, not that that post is out of the way,

Good morning all:

It's 25 here with a wind chill of 14. I've been quite unsteady and dizzy all evening and this morning. Viv is worried that I am going to fall and hurt myself again, but I wanted her to go to work so that she wouldn't miss any more time from it. She's used a lot of her personal time already. She's going to keep the cell phone with her just in case.

The storm that we were supposed to get last night and this morning moved mostly to the North of us. This means that the roads by Vivian's work may be impassible, but, I won't know until she either calls to verify she made it, or comes home.

Hope all of you have a great, healthy, warm day.

God's blessings.

No school today and no work for hubby (floating holiday). Dale isn't going to enjoy it much though because he has a terrible cold and will spend most of the day in bed. :(

It is 26ºF and around 0ºC. It should get up to 36ºF today but it is cloudy and sure looks cold outside!

I think Brent and I are going to try and clean the floors today and maybe rearrange the family room.

HAGD all!

Well humph! I was one of the folks that couldn't get on yesterday. Tried several times on two different computers. This morning it pops back up like always, except I had to log back in.

Cold here too, with freezing rain. T's truck had ice all over it and the state troopers were reporting ice on the bridges. Like Tony I'm having to wait to see if he makes it in. It will probably take me longer to find out cause T has a meeting as soon as he gets in. No news will be good new today.

No school, 4 kids and sewing to do. Oh and laundry! Course ya'll see I'm stalling in here! I'm to cool to work!

Well, Vivian made it to work. She said the roads weren't as bad as the news people had made them out to be. For us, that could be because of us having lived in Illinois and Minnesota. Things continue there whether there is a dusting of snow on up to two or three feet of snow. Even if it ices they continue. I was glad to know she made it ok. It only took her about 15 minutes extra.

MK, I tried several times yesterday, too, and couldn't get on. I even emailed Sue to find out what was going on. Scared me to think that maybe the place had been dismantled.

Afternoon Gang,
Tried all morning yesterday & couldn't get on. Jerry missed his bus last week so I had to take him againg yesterday afternoon for him to get to Ala. He called about 1am to let us know he was there. Allinston I think. Next week he goes to Ark. to start driving with USA Trucking.
Last nite me & Agee both was sick, I didn't go in this morning, but my tuff little wife went awhile ago. Got to try & get back out here in a bit to pay a couple of bills. Give some of them there presidents away!!
And,..I was right agout BH. Without Jerry around she was her old self lastnite, just runnin & playin all over her chair in the living room. Course Agee don't want to believe her sweet Jerry would do anything mean to BH, but I had already caught him messin with her a couple of times. He slept in the living room & would get mad cause she was up at sunrise. But thats took care of now, & she won't be bothered anymore cept mabey fore a couple of weekends. Adn thats a mabey.
Well, guess I'd better run & see who just called. Have a good evening!

Thankful

Good afternoon, everyone!

I finally after all these months, years, had a line for the change one letter game in the Game Forum and I can't find the game so I will post my line here.

We have had an ice weekend!

We have been so iced in that church services in the area were cancelled on Sunday. First time, we can remember that happening.

It is a sad day in Oklahoma as this is the last day of production at the General Motors Plant. It is closing.

Take care!

It's cold but sunny out here.

I just now found the missing link I needed to finish a critique I've had to do, so I'm just thrilled to pieces! I'm emailing the info to myself, will take an hour tomorrow morning to throw everything in order after I take the kids to school, and I will have me an OUTSTINKINGSTANDING piece of work!

If I wasn't afraid I'd not quit rolling once I started, I'd be doing cartwheels right now.

No, no. **passes up doughnuts**
Okay, just a glass of water for me.
**pretends she has this eating healthfully thing down pat**

Good evening all ... Whatho. Busy, busy ... Writing, posting, chatting, doing everything one does inside a cacoon.

You may have noticed I'm back in Maine again. Dunno if I said that before. It's great to be back up North.
I'm freelance writing, doing some articles for the local newspaper, which is keeping me afloat (AKA paying my rent to the parents, heh heh) ... Meanwhile my mom and I got a contract for a mystery novel we are writing together! :D It's a new line of mysteries that will be put out by the same company that does HartSong Christian romance. It'll be my first book! Won't make me rich, but that's not what I'm after... I just fill thrilled I'm getting paid to do what I went to college for. Hee hee.

Hope all of you are well. Lemme know if there's any big news you have that I missed out on--I'd love to hear!

God bless. xx

Ummm... probably should've mentioned that the CGCH has a guard squirrel. Did you check that glass of water before you drank? BH doesn't drink that much. I imagine she just spits it back into the cup....

Padre, I'm modest! I yam I yam I yam. :D

I just operate weird. Go figure. Everyone kept harping on it, we kept being told about it, etc., and now that it was due, I did it. HA! (I have an instructor who is so very cool though, she knew I'd do anything BUT the assignment and then turn it in, so it's all ok)

I did the same with smoking. When people talked or commented or expected it or offered advice on how, I couldn't quit. When I was left alone about it, I just did it.

Best way to get on my bad side is to start a conversation with:

When are you going to...

This needs to be done by....

Margo...Maine has the largest number of resident artists (writers and painters, etc) than any other state. I read that somewhere.

Cheers, and good writing,

Jim

PS, Notice I ignored the detestable squirrel.

Margo, you didn't miss much.

Oh yeah, except that the BB was sold, we have a new Webmaster, the board is hosted on a different server. Best news is that our good friend Preacher is back and his wife is doing fine and his squirrel is now posting.

I haven't visited the other board in a while, so didn't know you'd moved again. Congrats on everything!

Yep!,
Jim I really am sorry you're having so much trouble with them critters. BH runs loose in the house a lot & doesn't bother a thing...cept food that is!!
Margo..they forgot to tell ya about the rocking chair in the corner, if there is a pile of cotton in it...DON'T, I REPEAT DON'T SIT! It's not there for your comfort, & it would proably lead to some Discomfort. That'd be BH's nest for her nightly rounds at the CGCH. Oh & don't worry she brings her own water, from our fridge. Just announce yourself coming in & everything should be fine.
One more thing, Sue leaves some walnuts lying around once in awhile...I ah, wouldn't touch them if ya like your fingers!!!!

Morning all:

It's 33 here in the Middle Tennessee area! Vivian came home from work yesterday and said that less than half the plant showed up for work. She wasn't a very happy camper. Anyhow, her supervisor changed their hours again, so she is getting off a half an hour later now. She's wanting to look for another job. Wish she'd have done that a year or so ago in Augusta, GA so we could have moved back home.

Viv's sister called last night and one of the close family friends passed away yesterday from cancer. Vivian's sister was really distraught and called us at 9:30 last night right after we had gone to bed. Viv didn't get to sleep until nearly 10:30pm. She had about 3 hours sleep.

Everyone, make it a great day.

Good morning all,

It is 27º this morning, heading for a high of 39º. No precipitation in sight all week.

We're still all sneezing and coughing here, but so far no Bronchitis. I am SO anxious for spring to arrive!

Putting coffee on now,

After 27 years of operation, the GM vehicle assembly plant in
Oklahoma City (South of Tinker Air Force Base) produced it's last
Vehicle Monday. That vehicle was an SUV: a white Trailblazer AFT.
This is the first of 12 GM assembly plants to be shut down.
The 2200 union workers will be paid (but not working) until Sept 2007.
Some 800 other workers will be looking for new jobs.
Some 1,800 full time workers that work in parts transportation
(this is just the Oklahoma group) and other dependent jobs are
now out of a job. Big impact to the economy of my area.

A couple of dozen people in security and building support will
keep their job for awile.

I get to go to work today, much of the ice is gone.
