Why Do You Post On This Board?

It depends. Some times I post to point out different points of view and why I disagree with what someone writes. Some times I post to work out an idea that just hit me. Some times I post to rebuke out and out herecy.

 

What Church do you go to Eladar? I have trouble figuring out what you believe.
You do have a gift to annoy people. And a lot of free time.

I attend Church of Christ, but was raised Lutheran. My beliefs are not defined by where I go to church.

 

I am sorry! None of the answers worked for me!
:-( But I come here to learn from others. I am
mainly here on days when I am not feeling very
good and need to just be still. However, I cannot
just be completely still!

A few years ago, I left a very abusive church, and
I have a way to go before I get a complete under-
standing of what "normal" churches teach. While I
do not attend a church, I do understand that those
in churches are my sisters and brothers in the
Lord. I enjoy their thoughts.

I only read certain things, though, and avoid cer-
tain others. As a teen, however, I learned the art
of separating the person from the idea, so that I
can enjoy that one in a different capacity even
when they seem abrasive in another. I have
needed this art lately.

 

Well, first I was just asked to visit. After reading the posts, I thought I'd stick around and see just what other churches believe.

I'll have to say that I'm a little surprised at some things and in shock about others.

I've started to leave several times, but curiousity gets the best of me.

BTW, I still haven't figured out this three person Trinity belief.

Maybe if I stay, someone will be able to explain it.

From what I can tell, you've got problems you need to work out which can't be done on the internet.

 

Because I'm not willing to lie in order to be allowed to post on other parts of the board.

 

Yelsew! You've thought that, too? I have often
thought that I am far more qualified to post on the
Baptist sections than are certain others! But I have
been wrong before! :-D

 

Here are a few verses:

Hebrews 1:8, "But of the Son He says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, And the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom."

John 10:27-33, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. "I and the Father are one." The Jews picked up stones again to stone Him. Jesus answered them, "I showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning Me?" The Jews answered Him, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God."

Isaiah 9:6,7, "For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this."

These are all descriptions of Jesus who was the messiah to come. Wonderful Counselor is a name given to the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 7:14, ""Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.

In Hebrew "im" means with. "Anu" is the first person plural ending to a wordwhich menas us. El means God. Translated means "God with us."

Hi Grant, It's hard to pin point why I come. Sometimes to correct obvious biblical error, sometimes to learn, sometimes because it is a kind of a national/international Christian fellowship. I have really enjoyed speaking with several people here as well. You, Grant, being one of them. When I first posted with you I thought you were in your 60's. To find out you were in college blew me away, which is another reason I come, to find out more about people. On this board we kind of learn about eachother from the inside out, instead of in life where it is more from the outside in. Hope that makes some sense.

Also, just because someone doesn't agree with my point of view doesn't make me wrong.

I believe in "One God" and He isn't made up of..three persons.

Just to keep this on the subject, this is one of the reasons that I post on this board.

And you were a confirmed Lutheran! But I know what you mean. I once opined that Baptists were Nestorian herectics. Three Baptists quickly rebuked me. This forum affords an opportunity to correct honest misunderstandings.

 

I choose #1. But in general it is to interact with non-catholics, correcting there misconceptions with the hope of planting seeds that down the road will bear fruit. To that degree #3 is okay but I expect to convert noone for Paul planted, Apolos watered, and God made it grow.

In the process of the interaction my faith is deepened in my Catholic understanding of scriptures and I thank non-catholics for challenging me in my faith.
