LOLOL! I would loved to have seen that, Gina! Sounds like the time our cat caught our pet squirrel, and the whole family was chasing her all over the back yard. We all went over the neighbor's fence and back, trying to save the poor little squirrel. We did save it, and took it to the vet to have it checked out.

The neighbors were all standing around laughing at us...They didn't even TRY to help! [IMG]

Kilad: Coffee is fresh 24/7 here!

Gina: Thanks for the update on preacher. Tell him I can only hold the security job open for BH a little while longer and watch out for snakes!

    Hi Margo! LTNS!

Gwen: Maybe your squirrel could fill in for BH in her absence?

    Pleasant dreams all!

I don't know. Maybe my squirrels could apply.
My husband insists on feeding the squirrels. He regularly puts out sunflower seeds and peanuts.

We have a family of very fat and bushy gray squirrels in the yard now. One of them was looking through the front door a couple of days ago at the cat. The cat did not appreciate that!

That is so cool, squirrels are so fun to watch. Man they are so funny especially if you have a bit of an obstacle course set up for them to get to the food.

Squirrels are one of the most dangerous and destructive rodents on earth. They cause all kinds of damage to a house including house fires when they chew through electrical wires.

The world should develop a better hunger for squirrel meat and then they might serve a real purpose on earth.

They don't amuse me; the cost is too high.

    Cheers,

    Jim

My Grandmother was a housekeeper for a wealthy family in Birmingham in the 80's. At the time they had 4 boys all in high school.

Those boys went out and shot several squirrels one day. Their daddy caught them in the act and was furious. As he was pondering what to do with them thar boys, my G-ma made a suggestion.

That night supper, at least for the boys, was a new and exciting dish. See, G-ma grew up in cooking and eating all kinds of varmits. I'm sure that was a night those boys, now men, will never forget.

Though squirrels out number the cats around here 500 to 1, I would never kick one. Only because they don't answer to, "Here squirrely, squirrely, squirrely." :D

    Good morning all,

Feeling a little squirley are we? [IMG]

We have a lot of squirrels around here. We have two black walnut trees in our back yard and they gather the nuts all summer and fall.

We haven't really had much trouble with them, except trying to keep them out of the bird feeders.

Occasionally, one will chew through an electric transformer, knocking out power for one part of the city or another. Of course, the squirrel gets fried...

Jim: I can certainly understand your frustration with squirrels! They have cost you a lot of money repairing the damage they have done to your house.

I'm sure it wouldn't be as amusing for us, to watch their antics, if they were getting into the house and causing destruction.

It is 45º here, with bright sunshine, heading for a high of 73º. The weatherman is calling for rain tomorrow, Sunday and Monday.

I've always heard of 'feast or famine'. Around here it is 'drought or flood'...

Today is Brent's last day of school and we will be testing. Grandpa is taking him to a Monster Truck show tomorrow afternoon. They are both looking forward to THAT.

    Time for coffee,

    Oh, I know, Gib!

We were talking about that at supper last night. Two weeks ago, they went to an arena football game, at the same place, and almost went deaf!

They are definitely going to wear plugs tomorrow. Being in an arena, those trucks have GOT to be loud!

I thought I would go to a lumber yard today because they have those soft earplugs that come 10 pair to a bag (or something like that).

    Hi everyone,

I wish my squirrel could fill in for BH, but we no longer have the little varmit. She was such a fun pet, tho. She would watch TV with us, and scamper around the house and amuse us. Really cute!

Jim, I understand why you are unhappy with squirrels. They can cause so much damage! They chew up everything! They have destroyed more birdfeeders and birdhouses than I care to count around here. They can go thru a whole birdfeeder full of seed in a day.

Congrats to Brent on his last day of school. Have fun at the Monster Truck Show!

Well, back to working in the yard. Have a good day, all. [IMG]

Our Church was informed today that our Treasurer has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Uterine Cancer.

This is not only a total shock to her and her family, but also to her church family.

I've posted a prayer request on the Prayer Request & Praise Forum.

Ok I read the other thread and wondered whats not going on in here.
You kids straighten up and make merry havoc in here now.
Squirrels, humm, whats not to say about squirrels.
For us, it was rats, one time we got rats, don't know how, they just came, and came, and it seemed never ending. I chased one across the kitchen with butcher knives! it got so bad. They literally ate everything not in a can. Ate a hole in the wall so they could better access the upstairs from the basement, but before that they ate a hole through the door going into the basement, and someone please explain to me why, just why they ate the corner off my drawer with no food in it at all?
So far no problem with squirrels. I have been told we used to eat them when I was young and dad used to hunt all the time.
    I ain't eatin no squirrels.

    Gwen: Brent says, "Thanks!"

FOG: I am very sorry to hear this sad news, but am praying for a miracle.

Donna: Maybe the rats needed some nesting material?

Donna, We used to have a Oneness Pentecostal preacher who hunted squirrel every year in my front woods. I had a taste of squirrel once and it was quite nice, albeit a little tougher to digest. That chap came from down South originally.

All my squirrel problems started when that man died and the hunting stopped. We literally have 100's of squirrels in the front woods.

    Cheers,

    Jim

They eat them in the north too (but only if they were born in the south).
