Baptism of and Being Filled with the Holy Ghost

I think that we need to remember that Acts is a "transitional" period. The book covers a period of about 30ish years, and there are only 3 accounts of the tongues issue. (CH 2. 10, 19) I think many folks get the "John's baptism" confused thus bringing in the "Second blessing" idea.
I know a lady of this persuasion that told me recently when we were discussing the Holy Ghost/Spirit that she just couldnt call him the Holy Spirit. (KJV calls him Ghost, although the underlying word is the same)She was taught that the "SPirit" is the Trinity, and the Holy Ghost is the facet of the "Spirit" that functions as discussed above. Confusing...

Baptism of the Holy Ghost:

Acts 2:4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The approxiamtely 120 people, in the upper room, knew what had happened. They knew that God had filled them with His Spirit.

Keep in mind that the multitude had not heard that God had poured out His Spirit, until approximately three hours later.

Acts 2:6) "Now when this was noised abroad the multitude came together..."

Acts 2:15-17)
15) For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16) But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17) And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: .....

Peter verified the fact of what had happened:

Acts 2:33) Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, which ye now see and hear.

Some may see it differently, but this is what I see in God's word and have experienced.

HisMercy, I believe that Jesus meant for the disciples to receive the Holy Ghost at the time when it was to be given to every individual, which happened on the Day of Pentecost.

Acts 2:4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost,..........

Matthew 3:11) I (John) indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier that I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.

The baptism of the Holy Ghost as seen in Acts 2 - fell upon believers that were themselves - already baptized. While Joel 2 finds fulfillment in Acts 2- it also applies to the end of time.

Acts 2 becomes then the spring rain - and in the last days there will be a fall rain - a latter rain.

Having said that - Christians in every age needed to be born again and filled with the Spirit of God as were the disciples while walking with Christ in Acts chapter 1. But the chapter 2 experience was still coming.
