I've always looked a little "askew" at visions (I get them when I eat pizza before bed), but seriously - I know better than trying to put God in a box.

[Added: Having visited the website above (now deleted) it was influenced by Christian psychic, Mormon and other writing mixed in with some very fine material. We MUST be careful and judge every "experience" by the "Word".]

We need to fly our caution flags at high mast when we think and study about visions. The Apostle Peter explains in his epistles that he was on the Holy Mount and was "SURE" he saw what he saw and heard what he heard! "SURE"--but as sure as he said he was--he went on to explain that although he heard with an audible hear and saw with a naked eye--the scripture written for us today is more reliable!!!

Fake visions can come when we pour our hearts into them---but the scripture will never be fake!! Pour your hearts in to the only reliable, sure thing--Scripture! More reliable than a vision from God is scripture from God!

    Your Southern Baptist preachin' buddy,

I am another one who sometimes has, I guess you would call them "visions," usually when my mind is quiet, just after I wake up before dealing with the day, or sometimes in dreams. It used to really trouble me because not all of them are necessarily from God. Some are "chili based," some most likely lying spirits, some are our fears worked out by our own minds.

The one sure guideline is that all and any visions must be subordinate to the Bible. Any that strictly fall in line with the Bible I consider as simply encouragement or correcting concerning a sinful habit or mistaken decision, but always, they strictly adhere to scripture. Anything that does not, I disregard.

The Bible is primarily His means of speaking to us, and through sermons, and maybe a prophetic word (usually without the speaker's knowledge that they ate being prophetic, so only God get's the glory).

From my experience (and I use that qualifier here), the "big supernatural" occurrences tend to be a bit more rare, but you know. . . they DO still occur, don't they.

I also live by that deep maxim: ". . .God don't fit in no box. . ."

Hello everyone is entitled to there own opions i know how God deals with me i can't doubt the next man's experience with God i don't care who doubt mine.I'll never call my self a psychic because i'm not a psychic uses tarot cards and try and predicted someones future and charge money and they guess and lie and deceive people and that's not of God.I don't need tarot cards or things of that nature what God has given me no one could ever take that i refuse to except anything other than what God gives to me it dosen't matter what man or woman says. i've had visions of all of things since i was a child.I don't care what people say because there's only one man that can judge me and that's God i'm committing my self to making him happy and doing his will that is what i'm focused on not doubts or jokes or anything that's not of God.I saw my sister's death before she died was it a dream? or maybe i ate to much before i went to bed the point is i saw it.
Vision:Something seen other than ordinary sight, as in a dream.God's revelations to the prophets were usually by visions.
what did God show Daniel as it says in Daniel chapter 2:19
While we are so quick to doubt the works of God and his real true prophets will we be ready when the time of trouble comes that's stated in Revalation 17:12-18 God knows who's really faithful to him are any of us really keeping the commandments of God.I'm always careful of false doctrines because it's a lot of it in the world. If i said that none of you are real men or women of God and you're just quoting the Bible and scriptures that means i'm judging you if i judge you God shall judge me.

    Many Blessings

I have less than no confidence in visions.

Neither do I. When visions are mentioned in the N.T., they are mentioned in end times and in men, not women.

I've never experienced visions or prophetic dreams that I'm aware of. As far as what I've read in the Bible this is a sign of the last days.

I am a living witness for Christ as well, but my testimony is mostly consisting of trials and how God has seen me through them. And of the revelation of his word to me. There is nothing extraordinary though in this, it's common for all believers to get a better understanding of God's word the more time they spend in it.

Yes, no one had better tell you that God can't do anything. All things are possible through Christ who strengthens us. As it says in the Word.

I was told that the enemy would try and discourage me and talk against me even he has is own opion. The Great Controversy between Christ and his Angels and Satan and his Angels was wriiten by A woman named Ellen G. White God gave her visions and a message to bear to the world, only after 2 other people had rejected that burden from God.
as God told John in 1john 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God:because many false prophets are gone out into the world. As it's stated in Ellen G White book it says:It seems almost unbelievable now,but until the last couple of years in the 20th centry, nearly all who called themselves 'christians' were dead set against anyone who claimed to have revalations from
God.They usually quoted Revalation 22:18-19 to
    prove their point:
I know Satan works through others to try and hinder God's chosen one's but that's ok because it still wont stop me from my calling and i receive it in Jesus name i receive my calling as a Woman Of God and to go out and be a prophet for God and Minister his word no matter what so when the time of trouble for this world come to pass i'll be ready and willing to do what ever i have to do to prove my loyalty to my Father.Whom ever God chose to minister his word rather man or woman may his will be done i'm not going to deny my self from any gift that God has for me just because i am a woman now i see how Satan can deceive so many.I will continue receiving God's work that he has for me; Satan and no know else is going to stop me nor hinder me. God has been dealing with me at his own pace i have witnessed to many and testified i say to anyone if God is dealing with me in ways you can't except then maybe there's somthing in your life you're not doing right and maybe you should get on your knees and pray more and ask him for understanding because people can make jokes or doubt what i'm saying but it dosen't matter i know it's part of Satan's plan to put doubt in my heart and to try and stop me but it's not happening i've already talked it over with God and i praise and thank him for my many blessing and i know God dosen't want me to debate with any one regarding my calling because i have nothing to prove to no one but Him.

Ellen G White was the spokesperson and leader of a cult. Her "visions" were/are Satanic, the fear of all of us Baptists when we hear the word "vision".

I would ask you not to post in the Baptist-only forum since you give total evidence of Mormon teaching on your links and now Adventist. This is not what Baptists believe or teach.

Thank you for understanding. I'd invite you to go to the All Other Religions Forum - we have lots of various views and I would love to see your discussion on "visions" continue there.

It's a shame that many read the bible and still don't understand it.What makes you a doctor? How can anyone beafraid of the word vision i grew up the Baptist Church what's makes anyone judge me or say i'm not a real Baptist the question isn't for me you had better check your self and really read your bible maybe you should stop trying to deceive people with this [slur deleted] because Brother i don't know you but i can tell you this you need to clean out your closet before you try to clean out mine you know exactly what i mean.I'm sorry if my beliefe scares you or anyone else but i can't deny what i know God chose me for this calling i'm soooo sorry if no one can except that it's your problem not mine take it up with my father lots of people are thinking this discussion is a joke only because you really don't know better lots of you need to come clean and be honest with your self many are not living right i'm sure there's a lot of sin is going on in many of your houses some do lots of things that are not of God am i right Dr. Bob.Iknow your're angry because you have issues you should just pray about it this is a free message board i don't think you can tell me were to post if you or anyone else don't like what i'm saying don't come here and read it.I know lots of people experience what i do but are to afraid to say because of fear of judgement from man or others or what people are going to say but guess what!!!! not me because i know one thing i'm speaking the God's honest truth i'm not trying to deceive or change anyone's way of thinking but no one is going to change mine or make me think that what i'm experienceing is not of God because Brothers And Sisters it's real only God knows he is my light and my sheild. No hard feelings I hope it's not like it would matter.
p.s you should be a shamed to speak those words about Ellen G.White it's obvious you've never read her books because if you did you never would have said that she speaks of the troubled time this world will face before Christ come back you do know that don't you doc.
    Blessings

Yep. I'm the nasty guy. Moving this to the Other Religions forum, since SDA is definitely an "other religion".

    Wow.

Why is it that you ask people's experiences/beliefs in regards to prophecy and visions, then melt down when people answer you honestly?

Personal attacks are NOT allowed on this board. How very unChristian! I could sleep in my garage but it wouldn't make me a car.

The Fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control. Why would God give you VISIONS and not give you the Fruit of the Holy Spirit???

I'm filled with love sister but i must also be prepared the stand for what i know and beleive .Yes i ask that anyone has had any experiences in visions or prophecy i didn't attack anyone should i be attacked or be judged no one can judge me i love everyone as God loves me no matter what they say i have lots of love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness.and self control it's very unchristian for anyone who claims to be a christians to judge others and attack those for their own opions every one is entitled to their own opions just as i am entitled to mine.
In Acts 2:17-21 it says 17.And it shall come to pass in the last Days, saith God,I will pour out of my spirit upon all the flesh:And your sons and your Daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions,And your old men shall dream dreams: 18.And my servants and my handmaidens I will pour out those days of my Spirit; And they shall prophesy:
19.And i will shew wonders in Heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath;blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20.The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood before that great and notable Day of the Lord come.
21.And it shall come to pass, thatwhosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

it dosen't bother me if someone attacks me i'm going to continue my works in prophecy for God and what ever else he instructs me to do people can dispute me but they can't dispute the word of God it's not what i say it's what God says.I have both self control and fruit of the holy spirit no one knows that but me and God.

In Acts:18:9 Then Spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision,Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace.

I will speak and i will not hold my peace and i will continue my work for God and learn to be Humble and not let the enemy get me in the flesh.

Ummm, I think you're missing something, ma'am. Dr. Griffin is an administrator of this board and a moderator in the General Baptist forum. It's his duty to come here and read this.

You should also note that while your registration to this site was free, there is a cost for the bandwidth here that is paid for by our webmaster and you are a guest that is using that bandwidth to slur a well known, established member who is a pastor and seminary professor.

You have a very odd way of showing "humility." You may not hold your peace else where, but we are quite able to prevent you from speaking here. Your conduct is quite unbecoming and you have done nothing to further your cause. To the contrary, in just seven posts you have alienated a large percentage of our readers.

If you truly wish to exhibit the virtues of the Fruit of the Spirit, you should apologize for the belligerence and rudeness (both works of the flesh, by the way) that you have displayed toward your moderator. Otherwise, you will be escorted to the door and be told to leave.
