    Well, I see it's another non-answer.

If I heard those kind of things I would think I was in a Mormon Church. I would leave fast when I would hear a heretic preach.

Revelations? Usually those are from men who think they are spiritual and are not.

When Jesus said to make disciples he did not talk about just preaching but teaching them to be obedient. Nobody would preach to a person from the time they were born only hoping they would walk with God. They ensure that the person is told how to make right decisions, live rightly and disciple others by the personal example and messge of a father and mother.

    Take a look at http://www.bibleteacher.org/Dm118_8.htm

So much of teaching is just another class. Discipleship is not a class but a way of life.

off hand, I can't recall a Mike Smith, but the name does seem familar, it's been close to two years since I've been in that area.

I worked for a company that transported "off road fuel" and "Gas" for "Jones Oil company" of "Pikeville".

Jones has a small "terminal" at Phelps from which he services the strips mines in the area, and a gas station in Phelps and another just across the WVA line at freeburn.

I didn't mind going to Phelps, but from Phelps to freeburn, I always hated, especially when the coal trucks were running, dust when it was dry, slippery/mud when it was wet,

    narrow/dangerous full time. :D :D [IMG] [IMG]

Bob, I still want you to show everyone where I said such a thing. It's possible that I made a type, but I think you're just making a wild accusation against me (a falsehood) and then attacking that statement that you made up.

    Show us. Please.

In the Bible passages referring to "milk and meat" wasn't it addressing the listeners, rather than speaking to what the pastor ought to be teaching?

I mean, you guys are taking it like its an edict about what a pastor ought to be preaching to his congregation. As I read it, that passage is directed toward the congregation and is telling THEM that they ought to be studying more privately and growing more on their own, and listening to the preaching more, so that they can understand more. The onus is being placed on the sheep. They are the ones who haven't grown as much as they should have and can't handle anything greater. It's the congregation, the listeners, who are at fault for that.

Also, when it comes to the topic of salvation, I should think that there is both milk AND meat in there for us.

gb, I don't understand how studying the Book of Revelations is approaching Mormonism.

    Me4Him;
Freeburn is within 10 miles of where I live and I know exactly what you mean about the narrow roads. I haven't heard of the gas and oil company but do know of all the strip jobs here. I love this part of the country all is peaceful except for the narrow roads. We have had some get killed driving the big trucks in a strange mountianeous area. [IMG]

If I study the book of revelations most likely I am studying something written by a cult leader.

However, if I study the book of Revelation then I am studying God's word. There is a difference.

They do consist of more than one Revelation, I think you are hung up on a tech or typo rather than the message. :( The book was translated you know and I think the verses and chapters were also added by man, so don't be so high up you miss the entire point of the discussion.

It actually is ONE revelation. It is actually the revelation of Jesus Christ, not John. That being said, who thinks it is worth it to get in a tizzy if someone call it "Revelations"? Is the title of the book inspired? No.

    2 Corinthians, chapter 12

"1": It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

"2": I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

"3": And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)

"4": How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

"5": Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.

"6": For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me.

"7": And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

I guess its not to far enough out to be called a cult. :D :D

No. </font>[/QUOTE]Brother Bob, to clairfy...I was only referring to the book of Revelation and the specific revelation of Jesus Christ that was given to John.

I understand and you didn't call it a cult someone else did if we said Revelations instead of Revelation but no problem just wanted to point out that Apostle Paul was guilty too. [IMG]

Since you are unwilling to show where I said this, then I can only assume that you are intentionally bearing false witness against a brother.

Lamb and sheep are saved individuals. If you want to feed them, get away from the milk and give them the meat!

If I were to go to a church that preached salvation to the saved, I would not go back.

I challenge you to show everyone where I ever made such a claim. Or is it going to be another non-answer?

But, the church needs the meat of the Word.

    (Then you cross yourself)
    (Then you cross back)
    (Then you cross again)
You claimed that the church did not need to be fed milk at all, I say they do with the meat also. You attacked my OP as if my members were not saved and I still do not know why and now you say I am bringing a false accusation against a brother. You followed me to another post and said "he won't give you an answer, he can't". Why the attacks?

I did no such thing. In fact, I did the opposite. I assumed they were saved, and wondered why they were given the salvation message.

I also said the exact opposite of what you implied with your innuendo. You made the false statement that I claimed that we don't need to feed the sheep. Feeding the sheep is precisely what I was talking about. Getting them away from the milk of the Word.

Jesus and John the Baptizer did not come preaching salvation. That was old hat to the Jews. They came preaching the Kingdom. Paul wasn't preaching the gospel of grace; he was preaching the gospel of glory. (But, there were those who didn't want that and he had to return to the milk.)

Evangelism is for outside the church. We are to go out into the world and preach the gospel of salvation.

Open the doors to the unsaved? Certainly. Open the doors to the lost? Of course. But, don't preach to the LCD.
