Evening all! Had some emails about a 'hot spot' so thought I'd drop by and say 'hey'.

Jon came over about 1:00 and stayed until time for work. He works further west from us so he was almost an hour closer to work. Did his laundry and ate with us. He and Nick played 'The Sims' for hours.

We never have bickering here with only one child. I don't allow bickering among the day care kids either. They can fuss at home. This mama and daddy don't like fussing and we DO NOT fuss with each other either.

Pr 21:9 Better to dwell in a corner of a housetop, Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.

Pr 21:19 Better to dwell in the wilderness, Than with a contentious and angry woman.

Pr 25:24 It is better to dwell in a corner of a housetop, Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.

Same could be said about fussing children!

    Evening all:

Just popping in to say good night.

My company from Indiana left at noon and Brent and his brother, Timmy, have been here all day and Timmy is spending the night.

I've cooked three meals today and, after supper, we played Uno.

The boys are taking their showers now and then we are ALL going to bed and we are ALL going to be quiet and we are ALL going to go right to sleep!!!

    Pleasant dreams all!

Good luck trying to get 2 11 year old boys to be quiet at 8:30, Sue! LOLOL

Nick's still playing 'The Sims'. I'm heading to bed to watch t.v. with Jim. Nick and I slept so late today....... ;) Jim worked (his choice but good choice).

Have a blessed Lord's Day if I don't 'speak' with you before church tomorrow and God bless.

Be sure to drop by the Prayer Request board. One of our members, a preacher from Georgia, has just found out his 19 year old son has a brain tumor. They need our support and prayer.

    Good morning all:

They were both sound asleep before 9:00!

I told them if they were quiet and went right to sleep, I would fix them bacon, eggs, and pancakes for breakfast this morning - otherwise it would be cold cereal! [IMG]

Papers are done and so it goes...

It is 36º here this morning heading for a high of 46º with rain forecast for today through Wednesday. The ground is already soggy and muddy from the snow meltdown. :(

Cruising ('til time to cook breakfast)

    Good morning all:

Vivian has to work today. She had a good attitude about it, though Sundays isn't a day that's on her groups schedule to work...only in an emergency. And, Dell's had many emergencies with this new system of tracking and shipping this past week or so. Yet, she knows it's a part of business and things will happen from time to time.

Talked to my Mom last evening, and they found that she also has an auto-immune disease, akin to rheumatoid arthritis, which runs heavily in our family. So, I guess my mom is the "carrier" after all, though both her mother and father had auto-immune diseases. Three of we kids have auto-immune diseases, and two are disabled by them. At least I'm glad it wasn't strokes for my mother (at least not at present)...they are still running more tests to be sure they're not ALSO a part of the problem.

It was warmer here yesterday, so we took the garbage to the dump (Viv was off yesterday, that's why I wasn't here), got gas in her car and got some groceries. We went to the Super WalMart here, and they've got some drastic changes going on. We went to the checkout and we actually had to load our own groceries into the "buggy". They've installed a "Lazy Susan" (no offense, Sue), to the bagging station, and now the customer has to take the bags and stick them in the cart. They've started installing laminated wood floors in all departments, and they are also increasing the number of "self check out" stands and will go to full self check out within two years, or so they say. Vivian said she didn't want to shop there any longer. So, I guess Krogers, BiLo, Aldi and Food Lion will be getting our business. One lady in line in front of me saw what was going on and left her cart, and the stuff in the bagging station and told the cashier to "cancel the order", and walked out! Several did that yesterday. People here aren't happy with Sams or Wal-Mart about these changes. Woah! I had to pray for the cashier right then and there, as she nearly busted out crying.

I'm, Lord willing, going to go and visit Midland Baptist Church today. I talked to their SS director and he was a very friendly, happy sounding man and would be our SS teacher. Viv wants me to "scope out the place" to see if it's ok. They run between 50-75, and we always see a close knit group of people coming out...happy and look and sound like they love the Lord. I know appearances can be deceiving, but wonder if they are that good.

Well, Ya'll have a great Sunday! [IMG]

    No offense taken Tony. ;)

Our Wal-Mart is starting to build a large addition right next to where they are now located and they will become a Super Wal-Mart.

I am afraid the remaining stores in town will be shoved out of the market and closed.

I would hate to have to buy all my groceries and clothes at Wal-Mart because there simply wasn't anyplace else left in town to buy them, but I fear it will come to that. [IMG]

I do most of my grocery shopping at Aldi's and what I can't buy there (usually meat) I go to Krogers and purchase.

The boys ate their pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs with relish, this morning, and they are already on the bus going to SS. They like to ride the bus because it gives them 'visiting' time with their friends.

It also gives me about 45 minutes of 'bathroom' time to take my shower and do my hair and make-up with NO interruptions. [IMG]

Sue, I know many of the stores here in many small towns have closed because of the Wal Marts and Super Wal Marts. It bothers me to see a business that's been around for over 80 years or 125 years closing because Wal Mart sells it "cheaper". Our down town was at one time dead because of Wally World. It hurt a lot of small business owners, and many of them won't step foot inside of Wal Mart, but instead will opt to go to other places to shop. I don't blame them. But, it probably will happen where you are. I'll be praying not.

Now, to happier news! I'll "cut and paste" my post on my visit to Midland Baptist this morning, if ya'll don't mind. I posted it in "PitStop", too, I believe....

"I was late for Sunday School at Midland Baptist here in the Bell Buckle area, but the SS director was looking for me. He must have been praying for me to show, too, because, I got to feeling well enough to go. When I pulled in, from my description of myself as a "rough looking, long haired, heavy set biker type looking dude"...he knew it was me and came out the back door of the church and told me SS was "this way"! The welcome was very warm and friendly, and the pastor (though I didn't know it was him) was in the class. He actually admitted that he didn't know everything about the Bible, and it was refreshing to hear that kind of honesty. I fell in love with the people there almost immediately. I wish Vivian could have gone. She would have loved it. I'm hoping she'll be able to go tonight.

The services are "old fashioned"...hymn books and a piano, (though they will use some CCM at times I'm told), and the preaching was from the KJV, which is fine, too. I just really loved it. The preacher is a Texan with a big ol' heart and a true love for his people. The message was on "the Whole Armor of God", and it was very good! The Lord really blessed my heart!"

Hope ya'll have a great day! [IMG]

I went to our sunday Club today (we dont say school now as the kids feel this is uncool so we call it club) we had to take photos because the kids are making a pillow for there mums for mothers day, and there was a big lad there called Dan who comes most weeks with his little brother, i had to take the photos outside and as its a park (the hall is in its grounds) there were other boys playing football and Dan when he saw them held back and hid, i asked him what was wrong, and he was worried because the boys teased him and hit him for coming to the church, my heart went out to him and we took his photo where they couldnt see him, we should keep in mind the young as they are so vulnerable and encourage them it put me in mind of the scripture "the last shall be first, and the first shall be last(i hope i got that right) but i found that the ones who do come to our little club are the vulnerable kids and they dearly need our prayers

Anne, some here in the States call it that also. I've heard other names, ranging from study group to training class and others still.

Don't know if anyone has welcomed you, but in case they haven't, Welcome to the Baptist Boards and the Common Ground Coffee House thread. [IMG]

Hi Anne and welcome to the Common Ground Coffee House. I hope you'll become a regular!

I am SO glad no one in this house likes football!

We are watching a "Monk" Marathon on USA. It's a hoot. I thought I had seen all of the episodes, but I haven't.

Thank for the warm welcome into this forum.
I have been praying for NO RAIN.

To make my house an interesting place to live, my neighbors well pipes ruptured and pumped around 200,000 gallons of water into my yard saturating every square inch of my land. I own a little over an acre.

Now my whole septic and finger system is shut down. I have to sump-pump it away from my house and out of my yard and it seems as though I won't see this come to an end for three more weeks..

    I'm in a mess.

I'm upset at my neighbor who neglected this issue until it did damage to my home and the Health Dept. forced them to fix it.

Is there an extra porta-potty hangin around here?

You never realize how nice that flushing sound is until you can't do it ..

Good morning MP and all who will rise later:

You sound like you're in a mess and rain is forecast (at least for IL) for the next three days...

Today is laundry day after I get back from the corner. I really love to work in the rain. NOT!

I am having "Katie's Ribs" for supper and since they will be cooking in the crock pot all day, supper will be a breeze!

    Off to check other forums,

    Morning Anne and Wally:

Anne: We call them 'wader' boots here. Mostly, fishermen and firemen wear them.

Wally: I don't know what I'd do without my crock pots (have 2 of them - different sizes). They make my life so much easier!

    Morning all:

We use our crock pot a LOT, especially since Vivian doesn't really have much time to COOK cook during the week. Right now it's in a box waiting to be unpacked, along with our bread maker (which we use to do the dough, then take it out and bake it in pans) and our juicer.

It's supposed to be warm and MOIST here today, too. Anne, right after we moved into our home in December, we had 75,000 gallons of water flood our driveway, part of our yard and the house that is being built next doors yard. So, I too can empathize with you. Praise the Lord our driveway is 200 ft long and only 50 feet wide and that most of our acreage is on the side and back of the house! [IMG] Will be praying for you.

Sue, keep yourself dry up there. I'm staying INDOORS today! [IMG]

Well, Viv came home from work last night, tired, but very willing to go and visit Midland Baptist Church. We even stayed through the business meeting. She really loved the people and preacher, too. We are going to give several weeks to prayer about changing our membership since this church is 20 miles closer than our church is and is smaller.

Have a GREAT DAY everyone! [IMG]

I did something yesterday I've never done before. I actually WATCHED an entire football game. Now, that's a lot coming from a baseball fan. But I guess you know why I had my reasons. It didn't turn out the way I had hoped, [IMG] but I stuck with it. Praise God that He is more dependable than a sports team!
I still like baseball better. At least I understand everything they do. Not so with football.

Had a bazillion kids (or so it seemed) at church yesterday, most decked out in Eagles jerseys. The boys were wild! I think some of the kids were there because the parents wanted them out of the house while they prepared for their Super Bowl parties. One entire family came out in Eagles gear - Mom and Grandmom included.
