Mortal Sin to Vote for Pro-Choice

The Bishop of Wyoming announced at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Cheyenne stated, "There are five pre-eminent issues: aboriton, euthanasia, fetal stem-cell research, humuan cloning, and so-called homosexual marriage. How the candidates stand is a reason to vote for or against them.

Being a Catholic sometimes is difficult, and being a Catholic voter is not an exception. We have to live by faith and moral principles and not by political affiliation or personal like or dislike.

Voting for a pro-choice candidate would be a mortal sin."

Glad to see character and principle winning out over political correctness.

Thank you, Dr. Bob. I have been trying to get the same point across for months. Sure would be nice to hear the same sentiment from some of the so-called Baptists around here. Why, forevermore, are they shying away and tippytoing around it?

Actually read this article out loud from the pulpit in our Baptist church today. Never know when a closet liberal might be lurking, even in a fundamental Baptist bunch!

It's certainly not the stance on abortion I disagree with. It's the stamp of "mortal sin" that I don't like. The Bishop has no authority to say such things.

Cold Water or Cold Steel?

Matt 10:41-42
41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.
42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. (KJV)

These verses beat any multi-level program ever designed. When I receive or welcome a prophet or righteous man into my home or church I receive their reward because I have helped them in their ministry so for everything they do I get a "residual" benefit. Even a cup of cold water, the least thing I can do, nets me a wonderful return on that small investment.

It is reasonable to assume that if I welcome a false prophet or an unrighteous man then I also receive a "residual" judgment for all the evil I help them do. John says I am not even supposed to say Godspeed to them because by that I become a partaker of his evil deeds. If I partake of the deeds, I partake of the judgment.

That being true, what is at stake for us at this election time? If I vote for a person who condones the evil of murdering infants through abortion and would support the marriage of homosexuals, which is a lifestyle that God calls an abomination/sin then I am a partaker of his and their deeds and will receive my "reward" accordingly. No other issues matter as much as these two issues. Nothing is worth me having to answer for that kind of voting. Yes, if I am saved, I will not lose my salvation, but blessings here and rewards there will most certainly be lost. I may not go to Hell, but my life can seem like Hell.

I told my co-worker when he came in to taunt me about his being on the way to vote for a man who supports both these issues that he would be accountable for every scream of every innocent child that was slain because he was as guilty as the one who took the cold steel to that child. He would be guilty of innocent blood and under the judgment of God.

Even more so will preachers who encourage their parishioners to vote for murder and against God’s Word will be under greater condemnation for as teachers we do receive the greater judgment. Churches who ordain homosexuals and approve of innocent blood being shed prove they are not a part of the Body or at best extremely ignorant of His Word.

We are to be salt and light in all areas of life and we are to offer cups of cold water not support the cold steel of abortionist knives and cold steel of death of a lifestyle, no a deathstyle, of homosexuality. I say that not out of malice, but from statistics. Homosexual and bisexual folks live 20 some years less than heterosexual folks. Therefore it leads to an early death not a long life thus it is not really a life style. They need to be shown a way or "style" that leads them to a better and longer life here and an eternal one later. That is the loving and biblical thing to do. Jesus died for all.
It can be done. I was just given a statistic today that 94% of all children adopted by homosexuals enter that same path. If that is true then it proves categorically that it is a choice. The chances of any group randomly adopting children that have a genetic propensity for anything 94% of the time has got to be statistically impossible.

What are the chances of diabetics adopting children that are prone to diabetes 94% of the time without knowing their medical history? Impossible. You can’t look at a child and say I know he will develop diabetes or Parkinson’s. Neither can you say that about a child’s sexual preferences, especially as an infant. Therefore a 94% rate among children adopted by homosexuals becoming one shows it is clearly a taught activity not a genetic forgone conclusion.

We must spare the lives of the innocent and seek to reclaim the lives of the hurt and lost not abandon them for lesser issues.

Vote biblically and for life or else lose rewards in this life as well as loss in the next. Lift up the cold water and defeat the cold steel!

If a catholic believes that abortion is taking a life, then to do so or CONDONE those who promote this heinous crime against humanity is what?

Mortal sin. Not politically correct to say that, but correct via catholic theology.

I am encouraged that someone has the courage to call a spade a spade. Evil cannot be tolerated.

I personally find it strange that most Christians seem to claim that since being "saved" that they only need to "believe" and they are saved.

...and so why is it that the only sins they seem to care about are homosexuality and abortion? References to Homosexuality are in the New Testament... this side of the death of Christ. Apparently it is not acceptable to kill either... (see Romans 13:8-10).

So why is it that when it comes to their own sins, all they have to do is believe, but when it comes to everybody else and to Homosexuality and Abortion, suddenly they realize what sin is?

I myself believe that God's Law has always been and always will be applicable. But I think that Christians who claim they aren't required to keep God's Law because Jesus died on the cross, are on very shakey ground when they try to tell everyone else to stop sinning...

Not only that, but I think that being that the Catholic Church killed millions of people during the Inquisition, it is quite hypocritical then to turn around and talk about "the sanctity of life" and the "evils of abortion". It just seems like so many recognize sin, only when it is convenient for them and when it is aimed at the condemnation of the sins of anybody else but themselves.

So many Christian Churches cast away the law of God. The teachings of religious leaders themselves have opened the door to infidelity, and to contempt for God's holy law; and upon these leaders rests a fearful responsibility for the iniquity that exists in the Christian world.
Yet this very class put forth the claim that the fast-spreading corruption is largely attributable to the degradation caused by Abortion and Homosexuality and that enforcement of Laws in America regarding these things would greatly improve the morals of society.

First, where do you get the idea that these are the only two sins that Christians "care about"?
Nevermind, I know the answer you will give, or some minor variation thereof:
"Nobody ever complains about the gossipers, over-eaters, drunks, smokers etc, etc, ad infinitum!"

1 Which sins, except the two you are concerned with, have their adherents trying to get LEGAL acceptance as though it is not a sin???

2 Which sins, except the two you are concerned with, have their adherents trying to get their particular beliefs taught in schools as normal???

3 Which sins, except the two you are concerned with, have their adherents trying to get special rights for their sin???

4 Which sins, except the two you are concerned with, have their adherents twisting very clear Biblical teachings to support their favorite decadance???

No, Claudia_T, when adulterers, murderers, & thieves etc, etc, start trying to push the envelope of acceptance as your two do, then you'll hear quite a rumbling from Christians about these also.

As of now people know that these are sins, and make no attempt to try to get their particuler sin acknowledged or legalized, but simply either repent, OR try to keep it hidden.

But Claudia, don't you know that God's Law was "nailed to the cross?" Sure, ask any of them. The law is now "put away" and once we are saved, the Holy Spirit resides in us and keeps us from sinning (or breaking the Law...because, as everyone knows, the Bible teaches that "...sin IS transgression of the law.")

However, Claudia, have been a Christian for some 40 years now, and being very observant, I have yet to meet any Christian at all that does not "transgress the law" nearly every day (including myself). Is the "Spirit" falling down on the job, or is it more likely that, because it is taught from nearly every pulpit that God's Holy and perfect Law is put away, nobody even bothers to learn what the Law entails? Most can't even find the verse in which God states categorically the His Law would last for "a thousand generations."
