Faith for the Christian is defined within the context of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So it has been throughout history, the early history of the New Testament church, the faithful remnant in the middle ages, the Reformers who proclaimed justification by faith alone in Christ alone, and yes, even in the early colonies of the New America's, many of whom arrived on these shores to escape those who would persecute them for this very belief.

It is this true faith we must cling to and defend against all else.

It is a new day in America. A rubicon has been crossed. Presidents now speak of many faiths and national strength that comes from tolerance and diversity. America has become a beacon to the world, no longer because of the character of her people and her Christian heritage, but because of her syncretic paganism, her tolerance and openness to assimilate all manner of lies into the fabric of her culture. This is now our witness to the world?

    God Forbid.

This is not our witness. This is not the light that shines in the darkness. (John 1:5)

On this day, I hereby proclaim that I stand against this heresy. I reclaim the word 'faith', that it shall be used for 'faith in Christ alone'. That we shall not continue the moral confusion of words, where the world will grow to understand the message of the cross as foolishness. (1 Cor 1:18) That these deceptions are in direct contradiction to the successful execution of the Great Commission as commanded by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (Mt 28:18-20) 'Faith' as any person chooses to understand it, will lead the world down the broad path to hell. Those who speak of such paths are false prophets and ravenous wolves. (Mt 7:13-20) Who will bear false witness to tell me otherwise?

I shall not allow the words 'Faith-Based' to be used for 'Pagan-Based' government programs that embrace each person's faith as they shall come to understand it. Salvation comes from Christ alone. (1 Tim 2:5, John 14:6) It is only a pagan worldview that would allow such deceptions to continue in the name of charity and what is 'good'. (Isa 5:20-21)

The subset of Christians who place themselves under this broad banner dishonor Christ to obtain funds from their state to do good works. If their hearts and minds are truly changed by Faith in Christ, were this not sufficient that they should love their neighbor and partake in charity? Surely they need not look to the state to find the means of charity within them.

If the visible church will not confront this pagan-based heresy it is no longer salt and light.

The invisible church will be left to fend for itself in an increasingly hostile world that includes their so-called 'brothers and sisters in Christ.'

The spirit of Ichabod is here America. It is already here. Resist it and repent or your land will be devoured by evil. While your vision turns to wars in faroff lands the soul of your nation crumbles and rots and all the while you speak glowingly of the very men who would destroy you.

If the scales come not soon from your eyes, the time will be too late. The clouds are gathering and the trumpets call is heard.

    These are my words.
    Here I stand.
    I shall not recant.

    Who will stand with me?

The nations polictical platforms are not the new home of the gospel or the new "evangelists".

We want leaders in America that are godly Christians - but they are not our pastors nor does the title "politician" qualify them to teach in Sunday school.

I would be careful not to confuse the two as if impure doctrine at the level of a political party is the same thing as impure doctrine in your church. Having a politician that believes in evolutionisms false claims - does not bother me very much. But I am surprised to find it in the churches.

    In Christ,

If impure doctrine at the level of a political party had no effect, perhaps I could agree with you.

It is not I who has chosen to weave the matters of religion and politics, it is our president.

I will be careful not to mix the two if I am not forced to address the mixing that has already occurred by those who do not understand the federal government has no place to support religious organizations of any breed.

For those who willfully mix the two I must consider what their agenda might be, and why it is so many Christians do not understand the dangers.

Men of faith will express their beliefs and faith - even from their political office at times. This is not a failing just because their beliefs are not perfect.

Almost all political leaders today - were raised in a church some place as a child. It is not the governments job to conduct Bible class - it is the churches. The failure of those churches can be measured by the inroads of humanism in their church-owned universities and the confused statements sometimes made from public office.

I do not fault those who are the product of such a system.

    In Christ,

    Bob

When babies are killed at the rate of 3800 per day and lawless "judges" declare that homosexuals can "marry", it doesn't matter much whose fault it is. It is up to us to clean it up, but then it was up to us to prevent it and we didn't do that either.

That is a quotation from Martin Luther at the Imperial Diet of Worms.

Dr. Luther, the guy you are quoting, believed in the UNION of church and state.

What evidence do you have that Luther believed contrary to his public confession?

For civil government is concerned with things other than the gospel. For the magistrate protects not minds but bodies and goods from manifest harm and constrains people with the sword and physical penalties. The gospel protects minds from ungodly ideas, the devil, and eternal death. Consequently, the powers of church and civil government must not be mixed.

What Luther believed is not really relevant to the discussion.

These are my words, not Luther's.
As you even included in your quote.
So your point sidetracks from the point of the post.

The issue is that the expression of universalism by our current president is bad fruit. It will result in people of other faiths coming to see the message of the cross as foolishness since they are affirmed in their current faith. One who has a position of authority has additional responsibility for his words.

By examining the words and deeds of our leaders as described in Matt 7:13-20 this would lead to the conclusion that bad fruit comes from a bad tree. A good tree does not produce bad fruit.

If the president affirms the broad path by equating the God of the Bible and allah he must be examined under the light of Scripture as one who does this.

There is no question that Christians should speak out against moral sin in society and corrupt laws that condone sin.

But that is VERY different from opposing ALL positive steps in the right direction - just because there are ALSO some more errors to clean up. If Christians had to wait until the Government was "morally perfect" before endorsing any positive initiative - the world would be over before we would be allowed to take action.

    In Christ,

    Bob

The SBC had an opportunity to examine Pres. Bush under the light of Scripture. Instead, the Southern Baptist Convention was just another campaign event for the President. From the Associated Press:

And do you accept without question everything the Associated Press puts into print?

Judge for yourself if Pres. Bush gave a stump speech: Whitehouse Transcript

Unfortunately, Pres. Bush did not choose to enlighten the messengers on why Muslims and Christians worship the same God. Perhaps he was not asked.

The President also failed to explain his doctrine of Universalism in his commencement address at Concordia University of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod: Whitehouse Transcript

There seems to a policy among conservative Protestant denominations towards the President of "Don't ask; don't tell."
