I think Chick ought to make a tract against drawing pictures of Jesus and God.

If Jack Chick is "fair warning" I'd sure hate to see what unfair warning looks like!

I've really never met a Catholic remotely similar to Chicks' characters. . . .

I liked some things in the tract - although I disagree with the statement that all Catholics are lost, and that the rapture is not the 2nd coming and that the falling away from truth has not already happened centuries ago (hence the need for the protestant reformation) ... etc.

Chick probably sells more tracts to atheists than to believers these days. They find him hilarious, and he confirms their idea of what a Christian is like.

    Mozier,

How can you promote Chick's tracts? The guy uses deception and innuendo to get his point across. A lie no matter how often it is repeated is still a lie.

I'd like you reaction to another post I did on one of his tracts.

I just read "WHY IS MARY CRYING?" and just had to find this quote from Ralph Woodrow in the Christian Research Journal Volume22/ Issue 2 2000 Book Reviews 54-56

In talking about the book "THE TWO BABYLONS" on which he based his book "BABYLON, MYSTERY RELIGION" Woodrow had this to say,
    quote:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The subtitle for Hislop’s book is "The Papal Worship Proved to Be the Worship of Nimrod and His Wife." Yet when I went to reference works such as the Encyclopedia Britannica, The Americana, The Jewish Encyclopedia, The Catholic Encyclopedia, The Worldbook Encyclopedia – carefully reading their articles on "Nimrod" and "Semiramis" – not one said anything about Nimrod and Semiramis being husband and wife. They did not even live in the same century. Nor is there any basis for Semiramis being the mother of Tammuz. I realized these ideas were all Hislop’s inventions.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems that Jack Chic doesn't care to do any research into his tracts. If he finds something that slams the Catholic Church, he will use it regardless of truth or lie. He took Hilsop's book's "inventions" and ran with them.

Yet, many claim that they came to know the TRUTH through his tracts.

Go figgah...one can come to the TRUTH by reading lies. Just boggles the imagination!

BTW, Ralph Woodrow has stopped publication of BABYLON, MYSTERY RELIGION because much of it was based on Hilsop's book.

    Glen --

Most anti-catholics are this way. This is nothing new.

When I was a mouthy anti-catholic bigot, I had no real knowledge of the historical evidence for the Church and Her teachings, no idea of who the Early Fathers were other than a teeny tiny smattering of quotes from St. Augustine, and nothing to go on except what I read in trash books like THE TWO BABYLONS, ROMAN CATHOLICISM, and those filthy little Chick tracts, comics, and other publications.

But that didn't matter. ANYTHING I could find to trash the Church was fair game because my Premillenialist eschatology taught me that the Church was indeed the "Whore of Babylon", therefore, these things must be true of a whore, right?

    Yeah, right.

Cordially in Christ and the Blessed Virgin,

I found this interesting article about Jack Chick. After reading this artcle I am led to believe that Jack Chick might not be a real person. If he is, he is really strange.

This is so true. [IMG] I spend time on a skeptics forum and Chick tracts are a popular topic. Chick confirms their distorted view of Christians. Why any Christian would read or use Chick tracts is beyond me.

Yes, Jack Chick proclaims the "truth." And it makes him and his company a fortune.

"Last year his 35-employee company made nearly $3 million in sales, mostly to churches, youth groups, and evangelically inclined individuals."

If you want the truth for free, get some free tapes from www.catholicity.com - you will fall in love with Father Larry - such a kind, compassionate preacher of the Gospel!

    God bless,

    Grant
