Two rules at the daycare where I used to work--no fever and no throw-ups. And we made them pay whether they came or not, just to hold their spot.

It's funny what we find on the internet, isn't it Diane?

Thanks Tater, me too! What really gets me is how unconcerned these people seem to be about their own children! I could never NEVER....

We have a policy that if a child seems sick at church, mom gets called to come and get them. Why make the other 25 sick!!

Hey Cynthia, Max and Morgan have only come Monday and MIGHT come tomorrow but Mom's bringing by my check.... The other family just seems so unconcerned. I wouldn't be surprised to find they send Brooke to school tomorrow.

Well boys and girls, I'm tired and am heading to bed to watch a little t.v.

    Sleep well!

I am sorry to hear you have pneumonia Sue. I will keep praying for a speedy recovery for you.
Diane I agree. I think children should stay at home when they are sick. I think it's the best place for them. When I used to work at our local school I was always sick. Parents would send the children to school no matter how sick they were. I no longer work there and now I hardly ever get sick.
Whenever I worked I would always stay home with my children. It makes them feel more comfortable and I think it helps in a quicker recovery.

Praying for Sue and others with illness. And our webmeister travelling.

And why do people still send fruitcake? Just got one from some famous Texas bakery - like making fruit cake makes you famous?? I will have to be civil to this old couple; they have a sweet heart and spirit.

But why not send pears or oranges or nuts or ANYTHING OTHER THAN A FRUIT CAKE!

    Good morning all:

I slept pretty well considering. I did wake up several times, but had no problem going back to sleep.

Well, I had plans to get some things done today, but I guess that's out now (except for wrapping a few presents). I will be rocking and crocheting! BOY, do I feel old!

    §ue (drinking plenty of liquids)

Morning all. Tater and I can provide our addresses to those who have Fruitcake they don't want. [IMG] I LOVE it! I'd have a piece with my cup of tea... if I had some. :(

I get to sleep in on Friday mornings most weeks so I took our phone off the hook! I feel sure the mom of the very sick child is going to call me as soon as I hang it up to keep her ALL DAY. She works 9 - 5 today. My husband was very angry when he came in and found a child vomiting on our sofa.

I've got my bed made and laundry going.... need to plan some games and goodies for our big baby sitting job tomorrow night. I'm hoping to earn some Christmas money then.

    Good Morning All!

    Congratulations BillyG

That is quite an accomplishment. I know you are very proud.

We thought that our son would graduate from the University in May, but it seems he is taking a five year degree. His degree will be in music. I am hoping that he has some plans for his future career. He doesn't want to teach. He is studying composition and the orchestra has played some of his work.

It is a beautiful day here! I think I will go to Walmart today instead of the usual grocery store. I don't have much to buy so I will not get frustrated with the people crowding the aisles or the messages on the loud speaker. I really like my grocery store because it is quiet and relaxing when I go in the mornings.

I don't think I have ever eaten a good fruitcake.

The ones I have eaten are always too dry!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Cat vs Fruitcake. That's a hard one. I guess I would pick the cat. Fruitcake doesn't make a noise when you kick it.

OK. That's it. Picking on a cat lover whose family makes the most unique fruit cake in the world. Maybe I should start calling it raisin/candied citrus/walnut spice cake. Then it and I would get some respect.
I would never eat the fruitcake you get in the supermarket either! Ours is nothing like that.

As for cats, mine has all his claws and teeth, so watch out!

    Good Morning everyone!

Thankful, I've already done Walmart this morning. I try to catch it after I drop the kids off at school. No grocery shopping with children(or husbands) is my usual rule. They add to much to my bill.

Two things my parents used to try to pass off as edible, fruitcake and spumoni ice cream. Yuck to both! My SIL makes a fruitcake cookie that is edible though.

Poor Jim, T gets upset when one of our own kids vomits. Men sometimes are bigger babies than the kids. I ask T sometimes just how he would make it if I wasn't there to clean up the extra bodily fluids our kids produce. He usually doesn't have an answer, but I know the true answer.....He would call his mother!

Morning all! I hate vomit too. And fruitcake kinda looks like it. :(

This morning when I went to let the dog out (sleeps in a foyer by the laundry room) she was barking like crazy. I opened the door for her to go out and there was a flock of wild turkeys just meandering across our back yard. They didnt meander long. Even though Daisy is in a fence, the birds didnt think that mattered, and they left. Sometimes there are deer in our back yard too. I love the country.

DH is gone to New Orleans today, so the girls and I are carless. But we are going to go outside and play for a while, then we might make something good to eat. Tonight we are going to a nursing graduation. Tomorrow the oldest one has a dance recital. Then Sunday, we have our children's cantata in the morning service, thedance recital (again) at 2 and the adult cantata that night (community effort). Its gonna be a long weekend.

Well, yall have a great day. Diane, I sure hope you stay well. Is that sore throat still better?

TaterTot says, "And fruitcake kinda looks like it."

My dad worked for Ma Bell for 40 years----and for Christmas bonuses---"Ma" would give her PBX repair techs a Fruitcake-----40 fruitcakes----When I started pastoring---my first church gave me big $$$$$$"s----and all my daddy got was a "frazzlin'" fruitcake---I felt guilty all the time---he'd come in with that fruitcake---and I had the $$$$$$!!!

Well I love Fruitcake AND cats so there!

Tater, I went over to the clinic which is a satellite office from one of the doctor's offices. The nurse practicioner said she didn't think I have strep but since I've got 2 kids in my care who do have strep, and half the town is sick with it, she was going to treat me for it. She said they aren't even doing strep tests now but anyone with a sore throat is getting amoxicillin.

Jim and I are keeping the children for one of the largest S/S classes tomorrow night while they have their class party. We're doing it to earn money for Nick's Christmas. I couldn't be sick and miss that!

Sound like there is a strep epidemic in your area! I'm glad you got seen. It is so wonderful to have nurse practicioners and physician assistants to see for these things. Beats sitting in the doctors office for 2 hours any day!

Love the cats, hate the fruitcake!
