Oh, it's 54 degrees and dropping to 40. Rain with clouds socking in the mountains. Winter storm (SNOW) warning above 8k. We are under 6k. Whew. But still only 55 for a high tomorrow, then warm up into the 70's for the next 10 days.

And I have an outdoor wedding along the River Parkway at sunset tomorrow. Brrrr.

    Good Morning all [IMG]

Dr. Bob, sounds like your wife had a wonderful time even if you didn't. I am sure your new bedroom will look wonderful and your new bed far more comfortable than the old one.

Well, the coffee and tea will be hot and fresh, and the fruit juices chilled and you have a choice of pain au chocolat, breakfast rolls or you can have fresh peaches. Eat and enjoy.

I am off to the hairdresser, talk to you all later,

    Blessings

Good morning Dr. Bob (or are you stretching Tuesday evening still?)! My goodness, 40 degrees you said? Hope your house is warm...

How are you Sheila? Glad you mentioned peaches for breakfast. My wife and I stacked up three large boxes of peaches from Pennsylvania a couple of weeks ago, when we visited our friends there. These peaches are so tasty, so delicious - not like the ones you buy in the store! It's like one of those "power pills" Brother Backbird was describing! [IMG]

P.S. Brother Don, I hope you and your wife got over the cold! [IMG]

    Good Morning All!

I am just popping in to say "I am up" so blackbird can't accuse me of still [IMG] .

I am off on my trusty Schwinn to the Farmer's Market. I have a mental picture of the wicked witch in The Wizard of Oz riding her bicycle with her basket full. [IMG]

See ya'll when I get back! [IMG]

Morning everyone! Boy do I sleep good with the windows open and it in the low 60°'s! The high will hit 81° today but only for a short time. By next week, we'll probably start staying in the high 70°'s.

Happy Birthday Sheila! I hope you have a lovely day!

Sue! Pick me up some yellow squash to go with supper tonight. That's our favorite!

Dan, hope you and Jan both are feeling much better today. Summer colds are the worst! Everyone around here is sneezing their heads off.

Dr. Bob, Jim and I are still in a full size bed. Of course, he's only 5'9" and I'm barely 5'2" so we don't take up much room. O.K., O.K., I'll tell the truth! I saved up money I made doing odd jobs, cutting coupons, etc. and bought a white wrought iron, brass and marble bed in 1982 and I just won't give it up to go larger. There. The truth hurts but it's the truth. [IMG]

Blackbird, your snacking at night sounds like me when Jim's out of town. When he's here, I don't snack! I think it's boredom. [IMG]

Off to check the rest of the board and then to clean, school and prepare for AWANA. TTYL [IMG]

    Happy Birthday, Sheila!

Diane, I don't like to sleep with windows open, causes my allergies to act up.

We are enjoying the cooler weather here, too. The mornings are great for coffee on the veranda. I am working on a way to take the computer out there. We would need another cable modem though and then my laptop doesn't work anymore. So I guess I will just be content to look out the window.

    Have a great day everyone.

42 and bright sunshine here. And my queen-sized bed is mummified - it is so old it has two permanent imprints like Egyptian mummies that are there no matter if you flip or turn the mattress.

But hey, I'm 6'5" and 260# (450 canadian) so a bed take a lot of abuse. AND NO FOOTBOARD. My feet hang off. So in a King, which is not longer but another half-meter + wider than my Queen, I am hoping I can "angle" across a little and it will help the neuropathy.

Headin' to therapy. Will check back in later. Glad to share my story over a hot cup o' Calli Tea and a sesame seed bagel. [IMG]

Actually Dr. Bob, you would be 18 stone 5 in England and 117kg in Canada, and thebed is too short any way you measure it.

For the neuropathy, get a foot cradle and keep te blankets off your feet. It will help tremendously.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack, but not for long.

Bought 8 dozen pumpkin blossoms and I have to bread them and freeze them. Right now they are soaking in salt water so all them little critters that walk........won't. [IMG]

They are SO delicious when fried. I thought I would have to miss out on them this year because of my low carb diet..........BUT, I will just bread them with crushed pork rinds instead of cracker crumbs and I'm good to go! [IMG]

Diane: Come on over! I bought a large butternut squash.

I cut the neck off and slice it, saute it in butter, and smother it with cheese for me.

I fix the bottom, round part like a baked apple for hubby.

I gotta git now. I 'magine them little critters are floatin' on top of the salt water now so I kin scoop 'em up and get on with the business of breadin' and freezin'.

Sue! What are pumpkin blossoms? I've not ever heard of those!

Guys, I'm irked. Little peeved right now.... I just called the church to ask our AWANA secretary to order me the music CD for Nick's Truth and Training verses in NKJV. I also mentioned that the pamphlet they sent home for his 'Start Booklet' was in KJV but I had just printed off the NKJV. Well... seems since we have some KJVO's coming from churches that don't have AWANA, our club has gone KJV. Our kids, for 4 years now, have learned the verses in NKJV and because of a few from outside our church....... So, I'm going to insist on a NKJV for Nick and will have to pay extra because it's not in bulk. I don't like having to stand up for myself... and was told I'd have to get approval to get the other book. Would you pray for me to be strong tonight?

Diane; Pumpkin Blossoms are the little flowers that come on the vines first. If you let them grow, they turn into pumpkins. They are delicious fried!

    Fried Pumpkin Blossoms

    Ingredients:
    1 Dozen Pumpkin Blossoms
    3 Beaten Eggs
    1 Dozen Saltine Crackers
    To taste Salt
    To taste Pepper
    1/2 stick Margarine

    Preparation Directions:

**Pull stems out of center of blossoms**
Crush crackers and place in a shallow bowl.
Add salt and pepper to taste. Beat eggs in a second bowl.

Dredge pumpkin blossoms gently in egg batter, then into the cracker crumbs.

The flowers are tender, so it is better to set the blossom in the cracker bowl and pat on the crumbs. Turn over and repeat.

Place directly into a frying pan with margarine.
    Cook until slightly brown.

Remove from pan and place on a paper towel to drain.

On a low carb diet? No problem! Just use crushed Pork Rinds instead of crackers...ZERO carbs!

Better plan on making more, 1 dozen barely makes a serving! You CAN'T eat just ONE!!!!!

Eww, eww, eww! I just found my calendar that had been buried on my desk for a week. Good thing I looked, I have a doctor's appt. at 3 today! (just routine)

I will be busy with the pumpkin blossoms, then going to the doctor, then fixing supper, then going to church.

I will try to get back on tonight, but if I don't, I will cya in the morning!

    Good evening all.
    Happy Birthday Sheila! [IMG]

Sue, butternut squash, love those. How do you cook yours? Whenever I cook them I have to have Robert peel them for me, their too hard for me, I get pain in my hands, come to think of it I get the same pain when I hand sew stuff for my dolls.
Just checking in for a while then going back to work on the dolls.

Diane, you've mentioned awana(sp?) several times and I wondered what thet is. I've seen a sign for it several times in Glasgow, but it's not a baptist church, I think it's a christian church, not sure, but I know it isn't baptist. I recalled seeing some thread about it and other denominations before.

I see the problem, Diane! These folks coming in from other churches--just a basic question--are they uniting with your church by letter or statement? If they come for the study alone but their membership is at the other local church--they should be in submission to the pastor's(or teacher's) version preference. Even if they were members--they would still be in submission to the same above preferences.

It seems like it is they that should seek permission for a different version in booklets and not you as the teacher---if I were there and this happened to me---my blood pressure would rise to the next level!!

But I will remember your dilemma in prayer and know something of how you feel! I preach from the KJV--but am not a KJVO--if you want to come to church with your NAS or your NIV thats fine! You'll just be left out in the Right Field concession stand with a different version than I have---I will encourage the folks--to make it easier on themselves--to bring their KJV to church and read along with me--if they don't have one--I encourage them to buy one--doesn't have to be an expensive one--one of those $19.99 ones from LifeWay--bring it to church to read along with me and stay up with me--then when they get home they can then study from their usual study one!! Does that make sense?? Blackbird wants to make sense, now!!!!

    Your buddy,

    Brother David

Brother David, these are kids who go to churches that don't have Wed. night programs for their kids. Our kids have used NKJV for 3 and 4 years! Now to switch because of some NON church members??

Donna, www.AWANA.org is not a Baptist organization and allows churches that agree with their statement of Faith (which IS Baptist LOL) to have clubs. I like it because of the verse memorization and how it stresses the kids must understand the verses! Nick, for tonight, is saying:

    Romans 3:10; Psalm 130:3; Romans 6:23; 2 Corinthians 9:15; Acts 16:31 and John 3:36.

He has to explain: Righteous, iniquities, wages, death, eternal, unspeakable, wrath, believeth not, abides and 'What Does it Mean To Trust Christ?'
