Women at the pulpit

There is a difference between a pastor and a woman who has the blessing of the pastor to speak in the church he pastors.

 

Indeed I have spoken from my church's pulpit numerous times. It simply is the only spot in my church from which one can adress a large number of people.

What I have never done is preach.

 

I see nothing wrong in these examples.

But a woman assuming the duties of a pastor is wrong. Eve was deceived by the serpent, and to this day the woman is still susceptable to that same deceit and should not be a pastor. satan knew which one to approach in the garden of Eden.

Adam on the other hand was not deceived. He went along with it with the knowledge that it was against God.

 

It's not just the serving as a pastor that is forbidden in Scripture but the teaching of men in a spiritual context.

Adam was a lot more gullible than Eve, being deceived by a being with incredible supernatural powers is one thing, being deceived by a younger woman is simply embarassing.

 

I have preached behind, around, and in front of the pulpit. (I don't stay still cause I get excited when I preach about the Lord)
BTW, I won't pastor a church, but I'll preach.

Now if I am in a place where I am under the Jewish ordinance of 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 or 1 Timothy 2:11-12... then I will (out of respect) behave accordingly. But if I'm hanging around Gentiles...watch out! BTW, The Scribes and Pharisees had written the Jewish Talmud, which denied women the privilege to speak.
But don't take my word for it, look the Jewish Talmud up and check it out.

Just as the previous poster, you contradict the Holy Spirit. I think I'll choose to believe Him.

When you say, "How does this match up the idea of Conservatives" do you mean that women should:

1) Not speak in church at all;
2) That women should not preach at all;
3) That women proclaim the Gospel (preach), but they should not be in the office of Pastor/Preacher; or
4) That women should be Pastor/Preachers?

 

Did the early church even have pulpits?

 

I think the Bible makes it clear that the shepherds and elders should be men.

Marcia, what scriptures are you basing your opinion on? Is it from scriptures like this?

 

Personally, I enjoy the piece and quiet of Wednesday nights, Sunday mornings and Sunday nights. I live in a house full of women.
