    Jimslade,
Sometimes we want to say that they sing--but there is no mention in the Bible that I know of that they do.

The only verse I know of that remotely suggests angels singing is Job 38:7, "When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy".

Yes, Angels sing. Scott Spezio, MVP for the Anaheim Angels, is lead singer in a local garage band.

The following passages are the only ones I have found that might suggest that angels sing:

Jeremiah 51:48 Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD.

    Isaiah 49:13 -
Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.

I want to think that the angels sing as well as shout.

Yes, I believe they sing...whereas we humans here on earth can only try to make a joyful noise. No matter how talented we are... I believe that the heavenly host sings with unfathomable beauty.

Garage Band? You never cease to crack me up John...... [IMG]

This was brought up somewhere else. The Apostle exhorts us to speak to one another in...spiritual songs.

Know one I know of has ever heard or seen an angel, but I'm certain if I were to describe the "sound" I would have to call it music.

There is no Scripture to back this up, I realize. But I don't think the angels sing. Humans sing, and it is a unique gift of God.

Agree, rsr, there is no Scripture definitively pointing that spirit-beings "sing" per se.

But I do. Wanna hear???

    Didn't think so. . .

I dont remeber the verse, but I thought it said in the Bible when a person gets saved that the angels rejoice and sing?

You mean all these years I have thought they sing and there is no Scripture to back it up? Ohhh that is kind of sad. But God dosen't tell us everything there is to know so we can pray they do or will.
Isan't it somewhere in Scripture that the Saints will sing a new song! [IMG] I wonder if that includes them or Angels are a different Species, for lack of a better word. [IMG]

That is what he can transform himself into. I do believe he is the musical angel though. Perhaps Aaron can chime in and be the voice of reason we know him to be.

It is interesting that you used the term, "chime in", a musical term, to describe my input.

When Paul speaks of the gift of tongues, he uses musical terms to compare them to. In 1 Cor. 13:1 Paul doesn't say, "if I speak in tongues...and have no love I sound like I'm mumbling." He says, "I sound like a blatting horn or a (irritatingly) clanging gong."

In 1 Cor. 14:6-9 He again compares the use of tongues with the use of musical instruments.

Part of the requirements for my English degree was Linguistics. Language itself is musical. The rhythm, tone, tempo, etc. all contribute to the meaning of a "spoken" phrase. And this is in any language.

Were there no language, there would be no music and vice versa. They're related and inextricably linked. Doth not even nature itself teach you?

Do angels speak? Yes. Do they sing? If they have a language, and judging from 1 Cor. 13:1 they do, it is less reasonable to assume they don't than it is to assume they do.

Very nice, Aaron. I wasn't sure if you would pick that up.

Do you have any info related to Satan being the musical angel?

    Wellllllllllllllllllllllll...

    no

I do not believe the passage in Isaiah 14 is speaking of the fall of the Devil per se. I believe it to be about Babylon.

I hope I'm not banned from the Fundamental Forum for that. ;)
