Askjo, please rewrite the poll to include the correct answer. Ps 12 refers to PEOPLE not the Hebrew or the KJV.

Give the option on a new poll; then I'll erase this thread.

[Editted later - Guess we will go with this poll if that's what Askjo wants. I for one cannot vote on it. Sorry.]

Hey, why isn't the Geneva listed?!? That's what it's OBVIOUSLY referring to. I read the passage in my Geneva, therefore it's about the Geneva!

    I read that verse
in NEW AGE VERSIONS (AV Publications, 1993)
by Gail A. Riplinger -- therefore
NEW AGE VERSIONS is the perfectly preserved
    written word of God.

I think the verse refers to both - as both are the Word of God.

Wait! I change my answer! My 1560 Geneva has a marginal note on "keep them" that says "That is, thine, though he were but one man."

    C) None of the above; in context Psa. 12:6-7 is about the preservation of the poor and needy.

    Ps 12:6-7
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
    (KJV)

In reading this passage it appears that God is promising to preserve His Word. Well, that's the way I see it.

Of course that's the way it "appears". That's why you never see KJVO quoting the two verses in context. They always leave out vs 1-5 and verse 8.
Read the whole chapter and the Holy Ghost will reveal the true meaning. I could make any passage to "appear" to mean anything if I leave out parts that are critical to the context. Leaving out vss 1-5,8 in order to prove a point is just as bad as taking something from the Word of God. I'd be afraid to. I'd be afraid that God just might take my part from the Tree of Life.

    S&T:

TT, I was wondering if this is the scripture that you were referring to:

    Revelation 22

19 And if anyone takes away from the Words of the Book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the Book of Life, and out of the holy city, and of the things having been written in this Book.

    S&T:

The reason I am asking, is because as you can see, my translation has a different rendering than "tree". Maybe you were referring to one of these?

    Philippians 4

3 And I also ask you, true yoke-fellow, help those who struggled along with me and with Clement in the gospel, and the rest, fellow-workers with me, whose names are in the Book of Life.

    Revelation 3

5 The one overcoming, this one shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not at all blot his name out of the Book of Life; and I will acknowledge his name before My Father, and before His angels.

    Revelation 13

8 And all those dwelling in the earth will worship it, those of whom the names had not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb having been slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear.

    Revelation 17

8 The beast which you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss, and goes to perdition. And those dwelling on the earth will marvel, the ones whose names have not been written on the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, seeing the beast, that it was a thing, and is not, yet now is.

    Revelation 20

12 And I saw the dead, the small and the great, standing before God. And books were opened. And another Book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged out of the things written in the books, according to their works.

15 And if anyone was not found having been written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the Lake of Fire.

    Revelation 21

27 And all profaning may not at all enter into it, or any making an abomination or a lie; but only the ones having been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb.

I do find tree used here:

    Revelation 22

14 Blessed are the ones doing His commands, that their authority will be over the Tree of Life, and by the gates they may enter into the city.

I think I will stay with book.

Obviously Dr. Bob was right; subtlety is wasted on some.
