    Diane,

I had the wrong album. It is on the album The Lady Is A Child. This was released on Greentree Records in 1976 as Greentree R3486.

All songs by Reba Rambo Gardner, except as noted.
Side 1: All Day Dinner (2:57). The Lady Is a Child (Gardner - Oates 4:11). Tomorrowland (3:20). Go Ye (3:23). Sunshine Saturday (3:29).

Side 2: Child of the Music Maker (Gardner - Oates 4:24). Easy to Love Him (Gardner - Oates 4:37). Coloring Book (Gardner - Oates 4:28). Bendin' Towards the Sun (2:42). Sacrifice of Praise (4:00).

Produced by Phil Johnson. Arranged and conducted by Ron Oates. Recorded at Great Circle Sound, Nashville. Engineers - Bob Clark and Travis Turk. Remixed at Great Circle Sound (Turk and Clark) and Quadrafonic Studio, Nashville (Gene Eichelburger). Art direction - Bob McConnell. Photos - Dill Beaty

"Child of the Music Maker" was another good cut on that album.

    Diane,

I find I actually have the album in near mint condition. Here are the lyrics straight from the cover. The capitalization (or lack thereof) is directly from the album also.

    ==============

    All Day Dinner
    words & music by Reba
    Revelation 19:9

everybody dreams about our home beyond the stars
where we'll float around on snow clouds
and roam through the pearly gates
    you just might be surprised
the noise, the clouds, the singing
    as we harmonize

we'll all sing a new song
Lord, what a morning can't wait to hear that melody
    He's written a new scale
    do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do no!
can't you hear that heavenly harmony
we'll sing ten octaves lower than any bass singers dream
the music will rise, soar to the sky, unlimited highs
at that eternal gospel singin' all day dinner on the ground

gabriel, blow your trumpet go on, take a ride
david, strum that golden harp it sounds so nice
miriam, (go ahead girl!) play that tamborine
the orchestra's really cookin' while the children sing
we might sing it country for a thousand years
then progress to opera for the cultured ones there
The King perhaps will then conduct the jubilee band
then we'll march around the city of this musical land

we'll all sing a new song
Lord, what a morning can't wait to hear that melody
    He's written a new scale
    do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do no!
can't you hear that heavenly harmony
we'll sing ten octaves lower than any bass singers dream
the music will rise, soar to the sky, unlimited highs
at that eternal gospel singin' all day dinner on the ground

    please pass the biscuits
    all day dinner on the
munchin' concord grapes and angel food cake
at that all day dinner on the
meet you in the morning with a "how do you do?"
at that all day dinner on the ground!

    Travelsong, amen re: Rushing Wind.

I have given up on the local Christian radio station now, but still give them points for introducing me to Keith's songs. His better ones are still a challenge no matter how many times I listen to them.

On the down-side of that, when I found Holy Holy Holy on the playlist for one morning a few years back I talked everyone into doing it Keith's way...In G...So now picture a Church on Sunday morning, we are playing away, and the singers are singing the thing an octave or two DOWN!! You ever hear a group of female singers all trying to sound like George Beverly Shea? I know some day I will look back and laugh...Just not yet :( [IMG]

Also the first time I heard the David Meece song 'Jesus' on that station almost caused severe traffic problems too, he sounded almost exactly nothing at all like Elton John...well...ok, maybe a bit ;)

    Pete,

Back in the 70s, David Meece was trying to parrot every pop style out there. I recall one where he was trying so very hard to sound like the Bee Gees from the Saturday Night Fever era. Not all that successfully either, I might add. Nothing against him...just think he was really having trouble finding his own sound.

When I lived in south Texas and pastoring a church there a friend of mine was the station manager of a local Christian radio station. Every person who called in for help or made a decision for Christ was visited in person by him. A few times he called me and asked me to follow up on someone. So my experience with him was great. But so many never do any follow up in person.

I will never forget one lady who called the radio station who had doubts about being a Jehaovah's Witness. She was visited by the manager and receved Christ. She came to our church and immediately she was in a Bible study that would meet her needs well. We saw the fruit of that radio ministry.

What about Bill and Gloria Gaither?
I grew up listening to their music, and some of their songs are very special to me. Therefore I have a sentimental attachment to them. I recently bought the "Gaither Homecoming" DVD and really enjoyed it. My favorite is Lynn Randle's (sp?) song that says "the God on the mountain is still God in the valley."
I didn't realize that she is the sister of Tait from DCTalk.

One thing I think we need to remember, is to not limit God. What ministers to the heart of one person may not be what does it for another. God reaches people where they are at.

    Hello Everyone!
I've been following this thread and wish to add a "twist" to the discussion.

I read in the previous posts about some Christian radio stations having some very excellent teachers and "weak CCM" music.

But,what do you have to say about Family Radio which plays hymns, but has been teaching Harold Camping's heresy that Christians should leave their churches, since the churches are now ruled by Satan. Not only that, these Christians should listen to Family Radio only. Family Radio has also tailored Scripture to support Mr.Camping's teachings.

So,it's possible to have thelogically sound music and heretical teachings?

    In Christ,
    Dale

Mr. Camping is a thread in himself!

It is strange, though, that he plays only old-time hymns and Gospel songs that would be unoffensive at the most conservative baptist church, but his heresies require a straightjacket.

Maybe there IS a relationship . . .

Our choir sang Keith Green's "There is a Redeemer" just this morning! All 3 verses. [IMG]

Some of his songs are becoming standards.

    Dear Joshua,
You wrote:" I'm sorry... I've never heard of this guy. What am I missing?" regarding Harold Camping. You're missing his heresies, that's all. ;)

Now, I'm gonna get a lot of flack for this, but, here goes:

    Generally, I hate Christian Radio.

I prefer "oldies" and "old school" stations myself.

Is Harold Camping that guy with the radio Q & A show where he always says "Thank you for calling and sharing" after each caller? That guy is a riot.

    That's him. He's a bit of a nut.

It's funny until you stop and realize that people actually listen to this guy.

I once heard him tell an abused woman that she had to stay in the house no matter how badly her husband beat her and submit to him.

She sounded like she was going to obey. I hope she didn't, but she didn't sound like she had much will of her own. I prayed for her for a long time and I still wonder what happened to her.

If she stayed, then I believe Camping has her blood on his hands.

I don't think I've ever wanted to reach through the radio and strangle somebody so badly like I wanted to throttle Camping that night.

Looked him up on the web... the picture I saw painted was not very pretty.

But I thought we were talking about CHRISTIAN radio?

    Dear Joshua,

We ARE talking about Christian radio. I broached the Harold Camping/Family Radio subject to make the point that the "good, conservative" hymns can be used to hide very bad, cultic, and deceptive theology. And many still consider Family Radio to be good Christian radio.
