I live in an area of the country where mormons are the majority. I'm wondering how many people out there know all the crazy doctrines mormons believe, and if anyone has any stories of witnessing to mormons. What did you say to them and what did they respond with?

and then I say if we worhsip 2 different God's then it's not worth the effort to talk, have a nice day.

Although I certainly don't agree with much of their doctrine, I have problems calling Mormons crazy. We're just as crazy to them as they are to "us."

I know they think we are crazy. They believe they are the only true church. The difference between us and them is that we believe the Bible is true. They believe that they will be gods when they die. See Gen 3:5, this is nothing new.

Here's a thought. Maybe, instead of calling them names or being rude, you try showing the love of Christ to them and make your encounter with them an opportunity to witness. They are people, and Christ died for them.

Having been a Mormon at one time, they're misguided, misled, misused, and a whole slew of other terms.

But man, they sure got that "love thy neighbor" thing down pat. If only they'd understand that it isn't so they can get into heaven....

Actually, I think some of us have been answering the question, just indirectly. One key to witnessing to anyone is to bear witness to how Christ has changed your heart. Regardless of whether or not one calls the person they're witnessing to "crazy" to their face, that sentiment shows through when sharing the gospel, and can be detrimental to the message one is trying to convey.

I'm very nice to them, but I stand for truth, and I don't mix it up, and jazz it up, I plain out tell them that they worship a false god.

and then tell them to read Gal 1

Just because I don't wish to participate in your Mormon bashing party, you tell me to take a walk.

I have heard it said: Mormons may be confused theologically, but they sure make great neighbors.

The most effective tool I have found in witnessing to doorstep Mormons is the "we are on a plane and the pilot announces the plane is going down in 10 minutes. Prepare yourself to die -- and I am sitting beside you (the Mormon) -- tell me how I can know for sure I am going to be with God / to heaven."

Allow them 10 minutes of uninerrupted gibberish, and then ask them for the same courtesy. I will usually take about 5 minutes to share the essence of the gospel with them.

Makes for an interesting but concise witnessing opportunity.

As the last Mormon with whom I utilized this technique left my house, he muttered, "I wish [salvation] really were that simple."

And that is the sad reality: it is that simple!!!

I never call them crazy to their face. And I never really meant to "bash" mormons. I was merely saying that they are crazy to believe what they do. When I witness to mormons i treat them the same as anyone I witness to, very kindly.

One of my bestd friends is a mormon.

he knows how i feel about his false religon, but we have respect for each other, and i love him as a human being, because as a human he has worth, but he's just been mislead.

I pray for him, that Jesus Christ will open his blinded eyes.

</font>[/QUOTE]like i said, i'm not here to bash mormons. i'm tired of people on this board ignoring the topic and talking about something else. that's why i said what you quoted above. if you want to start a discussion on how much of a jerk i am because i said mormons are crazy then go right ahead, but stick to the subject here.
