Has anyone seen the MSN webnews today?? The topic of gays at high school proms?? God help us--the world is running out of brains to think with!! This is what happens when people start thinking with reprobate minds--yes, even high school minds.

    www.msn.com

    click on teen proms
Romans 1: 28 is crystal clear--"And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient."

This is why my wife and I homeschool our kids. This is why I as a Southern Baptist preacher make for sure that young guys and girls are taught at church to have and maintain a clean thought life--and keep themselves pure and chaste and holy until marriage. Thats why I teach my boy ideas of sexual purity and my wife teaches my girl the same.

God help us!!!! God help us!

Doesn't bother me. But then I'm not bothered by the recent Canadian news, either.

Stubborn! This news doesn't bother you?? Does it shame you? Are you embarrassed by what they do??

Jeremiah 6: 15 says, "Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore, they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord."

So what is the 'recent Canadian news?' Did they open a chapter of NAMBLA up there and that's hunky dory with you too?

We have seen this on the news, and although we live in the capital of the world (New York City), we cringe every time when we see something like this. The world is being de-sensitized by same sex interactions, and we have even people here on the board who sympathize with the idea - but just for the record, the Bible denounces this practice as abomination in the eyes of God. And I happen to follow the Bible rather than the latest fad. Thanks Brother David for getting our eyes re-focused on what is God honoring and what is right! [IMG]

That is disgusting. It makes you want to cry.
Both my boys graduated with gay boys, and they took girls to the prom. None of them were dating boys,at least not openly. Now 2 years later one is living with someone, same sex.

Golly day - I don't think I deserved that, chargrove.

An Ontario appeals court ruled on Tuesday that Canada's same-sex marriage ban was unconstitutional.

And blackbird, "what they do" is really none of my business. I claim no absolute knowledge of my gay friends' bedroom activities (those that are sexually active, anyway) - we don't generally talk about it. I'm not harmed by gay couples at a prom or any other function, and no one else can rightly claim to be either. Moral or religious offense is the only claim a person can make, and that's not enough to ban a gay couple from going places together, even the prom.

I'm curious as to why the prom this is making news now? 20 years ago, maybe, but now???

Of course, there's a double standard in life. If two girls go to the prom, no one thinks of it. If two guys go to the prom, it's headline news. Go figure. If I want to bring my brother to the prom, what's wrong with that? Why could my best friend bring her sister without eyebrows raising, but I couldn't bring my brother without a comment flying?? Okay, I know it's getting off the subject a bit, but we want to draw biblical lines in the sand, let's draw them at the point of intercourse. And unless we're simply assuming that our kids are having sex during prom season, we should be more worried about our heterosexual kids, since there are more heterosexual kids having sex at prom than homosexual kids.

I'm not saying it should be of no concern, but I'm much more worried about my kids being exposed to drugs and alcohol at the prom. It seems that our feathers fly when a same sex issue arises, but when it comes to heterosexual fornication, drug use, and alcohol use, we excuse it as "everyone's tried that at least once". You'd think we'd rather their children get drunk or smoke pot than dance with someone of the same sex.

First of all, the prom experience is not about dancing in and of itself. Second, if I HAD TO CHOOSE, you are **** straight that I'd rather catch my kids smoking pot than dating someone of the same sex. Love you guys!

    Exactly.

About the Canadian ruling, it doesn't bother me either. Yes, same-sex marriage is *unbiblical* but I never expected political constitutions to be based on purely Biblical standards in the first place. Besides, I think the ruling is entirely political, and has no practical value one way or the other. A gay couple is going to be a gay couple whether or not they have a piece of paper tucked away in a drawer somewhere saying it's legally recognized.

OOoooh, self-censored expletives. [IMG] Come on chargrove, dressing your swear words up in asterisks doesn't make swearing more acceptable. [IMG]

John's comment was about exposure to homosexuality, not participating in it. [IMG] But your comment makes me ask: why? Do you have some sort of rating system for different sins? [IMG]

Asterisks? I didn't type any asterisks. I have no idea how that got into my post. My keyboard must have a mind of its own or there's a bug in the system. Someone should really check into that. And I didn't say that I would pat my son on the back for toking up. I said in all caps if I had to choose. That's just my perogative and no one else's. As in, I would rather deal with that issue than the other one.

I agree, Kelly. And I'm surprised nobody had started a thread on the Canadian decision.

Now, Brothers and Sisters! You hear me! The Bible says that Lot was in Sodom and saw what was going on with the queer scene--and Peter says that Lot's righteous soul was "vexed" with the gay spirit!! That word "vexed" means, "disturbed, annoyed"---as saved people living in a wicked, perverted world we ought to be "vexed" in our souls when we read alarming news like I posted above!!!

Blackbird, I agree. The point is that we should be vexed about sin *before* it is evident at a prom, not *because* it is evident at a prom. Getting upset because you are simply visually reminded of something you *already know* is happening when you aren't there to see it provides an emotional release, but isn't of much more practical value. If I remember correctly, there is a censor built into the newsgroup that removes a set of perceived obscene or crude phrases and replaces them with astrisks.

Your point is taken stubbornkelly, but I wish we were still in a time where that kind (and any kind) of immoral behavior stayed in the closet, and not in our faces. People used to be ashamed of themselves for sin, now they glory in their sinfulness and rebellion.
