    Luke 12:34
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Jesus said that your heart follows your treasure. Lost people do not see God as anything of value. They do not worship the one true God. Since the treasure of lost people will never be God (on their own free will), they will never have their heart directed toward God.

One of the rules of hermaneutics is follow the context of what is being said. Jesus said in Luke 12:32 that He was speaking to His saved people. 'Fear not, little flock . . . !' and in verse 34 He says, 'For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.'

You have wrongfully tried to use this verse in connection with the lost. This is impossible to do unless you are a Calvinist and don't really care to follow the context of Scripture.

You bring up a good point brother, great portions of scripture are not even speaking to the lost.

But you have to admit, these same see no treasure in God.

It is a factual statement for lost and saved people, Ray. Do lost people treasure God, Ray?

Turning to God in repentance is not "treasuring" Him. That develops after the fact.

No, it doesn't. Your heart is where your treasure is. If Christ is not treasure, you do not have faith in him.

Most people want to believe that the treasure follows the heart. It doesn't. It totally works against arminianism (like all true theology does).

    Preach the Word,

Four fifths of Arminian theology is Biblical. You brethren are not even close to defending your un-Biblical views in your first four points of Calvinism. We are praying that you and others will one day quit your 'Dead Corpse Club.' Pointing out your errors has become not even a close fight. Do I hear an Amen, Brother Bill?

Best regards to you, your wife and child. God is wonderful to us isn't He?

Thanks for the indepth answer Ray. I couldn't believe you chose to go with the same arminian diatribe instead of interacting with the passage and comments about it. Classic.

But still, we're not talking about the heart doing anything to treasure Him. You ask Him to save you, and then He changes the heart, and then you begin to treasure Him. Even in your system, people when "elected" do not yet treasure Him until they are shown His truth and then accept it.

    Preach the Word,

You are correct that the lost place no value on God and are blinded from knowing the truth until the Holy Spirit begins to convince them of their lost condition before holy God. My post on March 18 at 9:28 p.m. merely pointed out that Luke 12:34 was the wrong verse in trying to prove that the lost could care less about Almighty God.

One verse that would back both your view and mine about sinners not being concerned about the things of God is found in Ephesians 2:1-3.

'And you hath he quickened, who were dead in transpasses and sins, wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, {the devil} the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. Among whom also we all had our conversation {manner of life} in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.'

The sinners 'nature' and lusts keep them away from Divine realities. I am sure there are other portions of Scripture that back our ideas of all sinner's blindness.

Eric, think about your post. Why would you turn to Christ over sin if he is not more valuable? If Christ is not more valuable than sin, then that person has not placed saving faith in Christ.
