Prayer

True prayer is the cry of the believer to come boldly into God's presence for grace and mercy in our time of need, based upon the high priestly ministry of Christ. Hebrews 4:14-16

True prayer is desiring God's will and then seeking it to be done. Matt 6:10; I John 5:14, 15

True prayer is the means of peace and quiet in the life of the believer and the saving of souls. I Timothy 2:1-14

 

I'd like to add to circuitrider that true prayer is knowing God's will, not just desiring it.

 

I consider prayer as being communion with God. In prayer, I bring my soul into His holy of holies and feast at His table of spiritual generosity. Everything else is peripheral. Yes, sometimes I plead, but it is not that anything will change His sovereign plan, but will bring me into His rhythm and I will know that He doeth all things well.

The act of prayer is as important as the words of prayer, and sometimes there are no words...the meaning of praying without ceasing; we walk in prayer.

Heart felt communication with God.

 

Prayer is our active relationship with God, in communication with Him.

 

True prayer is our only way of real twoway communication with God. It's only a little bit about our wants and wishes, it's far more about God's wants and wishes. That brings into play worship and listening and obedience and second chances and grace and everything else a relationship with Him includes, too, not just appeal after appeal for what we want.
