    Everybody can read, hear or understand about the Gospel. But the "natural man" cannot truly fully grasp the depth of this message.

    It takes illumination of the Word to "turn the light on", enabling us to affirm the Gospel message.

    How does this occur?
    Why does this occur?
    Is this universal to all men or only to a few?

    Thanks

    It takes a light source and "Son"light seems to be the best light. We need a power source and we can't get much better that the Holy Spirit's omnipotence. We need to be ABLE to see and no one can heal our blindness better than the Great Physician.

    I grew up believing that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the living God. I don't ever recall doubting this. Yet, I was not saved. I did not "see" things clearly. The Holy Spirit tried to show me the truth but I would not listen. Then one day I gave up resisting the lure of the Holy Spirit and soon began to "understand" some of the things that I had "thought" all my life. Now I "believed" those things. Jesus was now MY Christ, the Son of MY living God. The miracle of God's transformation allowed me to "see" through the once opaque glass and even though that glass is not now crystal clear, and won't be until heaven, I can now see well enough to not be "afraid of the dark".

    Proverbs 1
    7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

    Proverbs 1
    23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

    Proverbs 3
    5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
    6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
    7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

    Proverbs 9
    10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

    John 16
    7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
    8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
    9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
    10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
    11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

    John 1
    5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
    6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
    7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
    8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
    9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

    John 3
    19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
    20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
    21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

    John 1
    12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
    13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

    Proverbs 16
    3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
    4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
