    Adam Clarke had this to say regarding this verse:
    I could not find one English version that reads "lie" instead of "knowledge." Can someone list the mss evidence to which Clarke is referring.

    The Aramaic (Targum) is a derivative of daath (ידיעתא).

    My best guess is that there might be some Septuagint variant which is looser or more free-form in the book of Proverbs.

    There might be some connection in the Greek translation with Proverbs 14:5.
