    SPIRITUAL WARFARE

Hopelessness! Hopelessness! Sheer hopelessness! The world lies in utter hopelessness, and our pulpits are silent. Hopelessness? Spiritual hopelessness! Three words can explain our situation of today: cesspool of immorality.

Truth! Today, we are so far form the truth that we could be likened to blind bats seeking for light. And our pulpits are ever so silent. Do not those who stand in our pulpits know who the Truth is and where the truth can be found? Don't blame it on the cemeteries, ah, the seminaries. The would-be preachers have eyes to see; they have Bibles!

One of our recent presidents said, Islam is a good religion. He probably would have been more correct if he would have said most of the Muslim people are basically good. In the expository statements above regarding the Islamic religion, there are really only two kinds of good: good for nothing and good for _______. You can supply your own expletive. I'm in deep enough trouble already! So what? What can the Muslims do to a 88 year old man? As I get up each morning, it takes me about two hours to determine whether I am half dead or half alive. There is absolutely nothing wrong with me that a good undertaker couldn't take care of . I've already fulfilled my legacy in this life: to be Christ's bond slave. It also would be nice to be one of His martyrs.

This discussion leads us to another precept--today the free nations are in a war--a religious war, the Islamic nations against the rest of the world. How is this war being fought? Conventional warfare? Never! The terrorist elements have as much chance of winning a conventional war against the great non-Muslim nations of the world as a snowball has of survival in hell fire. They use a system which involves minimal investments: human bombs, time bombs, explosives placed in strategic locations and then exploded from a position of relative safety, and not to mention their future use of weapons of mass destruction.

I know there are liberal minds out there that will declare that I belong in a "nut house." Nevertheless, it doesn't take much of a mind to figure out that we are currently in a religious war. In the September eleventh event, who were the 19 in the four commercial airliners that wrecked havoc upon our nation? They were all Muslims, and 16 of them were from Saudi Arabia. Who are those in Iraq today that are committing all of the terrorist attacks? Radical Islamic elements! And who are they in Israel who are committing all of the unprovoked attacks against the Jews? You know the answer!

We aren't in a religious war. All wars are POLITICAL WARS. Historically, most groups use either religion or race as the basis of the war. America uses the concept of "FREEDOM" to fight most of our wars, or we "PROTECT" other freedom loving groups.

But it is really about the power of a few highly placed individual(s) and their ruling party affiliates. In other words, war is about power for the few. The rich and powerful are the only ones that can start and continue a war.

No one dies for Osama, they die for Allah, therefore Osama (Political Leader) uses Religion to get his followers to war and die. Bush and American leaders in general have used the concept of "Freedom" to get our people to war and die in battle. We aren't a country that will die for God anymore past our original founding, we must use a higher value (sic) and Freedom seems to work. We fought the communist because they threatened our "Freedom" or other's freedom, not because they were Godless or Socialist. We fought Hitler because we had to protect the freedom of other freedom loving countries. The Civil War provided "Freedom" to the slaves, on and on.

So while each group may use their version of God to help the brave die in battle, that doesn't make it a religious war. To be a religious war, the losers are forced to convert to the winning side's religion or die. I don't see anybody from the Muslim side forcing the issue and certainly not from our side either.

What I find remarkable is the fact that you have lived through the Great Depression and survived World War II and say that today's situation is one of hopelessness! I can see why: Economic downturns come and go, fascists can be defeated in warfare. But what about the battle against spiritual wickedness, compromise and indifference?
This is a different enemy all together.
As for Islam: it is yet another system that is an enemy of the cross of Christ. Yet, I feel, the greatest enemies of the Lord Jesus Christ are not those without, but those within. On another post I said (listing scriptures) that we have the right and yes, even duty, to speak out against error. Doing that, praying and making sure that we ourselves stand for truth is what we can do.

I see hope, hope and much more abundant hope. I am so filled with hope that it overflows out to everyone I meet. I cannot help it.

I am of good cheer because my savior has overcome the World and I know it for sure.

The more I live, the more I realize that this is indeed not my home. I am from somewhere else and I am more of a guest here.

I do not comprehend hoplessness, It is not part of my nature. Even the idea or thought of hopelessness is perverse and strange to me.

My sheild of faith is up!
    My loins are gird.
    My feet are shod.
    My helmet is on.
My sword is in my hand.
My breastplate is in it's place!

In order to feel the hopeless despair that you speak of...I would have to forget the Blessed Hope that I have as a child of God.

    This I cannot do..........

We are to be aware of the dangers around us, but to always speak of gloom and doom is denying that our God is still in control.

    Blessings,

True, WE aren't in a religious war--our enemies, however, are.

In resisting facism and international communism, the West was in a struggle for its very existence, for its way of life. The totalitarian ideologies that made the 20th century the bloodiest in history all sprang from a common philosophical root, Marxism. (Yeah, I know that Hitler wasn't much of a Marxist after he came to power, but he used National SOCIALISM to get power.)

The totalitarian ideology that we face today comes from a different root, and that root is Islam. Their intention is to take away our way of life and to convert the entire world to their version of Islam. The choice for the West is resist or submit.

For Christians, we are caught up in this Malestrom, and we must seek to be obedient and Christlike in all things, and to depend upon God to rule by His providence. We also should do our part to fulfill God's established order for the protection of public order:

Rom 13:1-7 "Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. [in OUR system, WE are the governing authority--that is called Popular Sovereignty; i.e., the people rule through their elected representatives] 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor."

    1) Without Christ there is no HOPE, thus the world is indeed without hope, but Christians are not.

    2) It is indeed a spiritual warfare, for the forces of Islam are driven by the god of this world, and those who oppose them are opposing principalities and powers that they may not even be aware of.

May God so bless His precious children.

    A servant of Christ,
