The decision of Supreme Court is indicative of our society's current attitude toward homosexuality. The justices are merely reflecting an a-moral attitude toward sodomy. This is sad but not surprising. Sodomy is an immoral, unnatural act forbidden by God from the beginning. It's a perversion and clearly forbidden in the OT & NT. As Christians, we know clearly in our conscience that sexual intercourse between two men is degenerate behavior.

Another thought: Is the act of adultery considered illegal in any of our states? If not, why not? In my opinion, the sin of adultery is just as damaging as sodomy. The same argument we Christians use to support anti-Sodomy laws, can be used to support anti-adultery laws. Think about it.

Okay, stop the name-calling, protests, etc.

If you want to reverse this ruling by the Supreme Court -

In Article III, Section 2, of the United States Constitution, it reads in part:

"In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.

So get the work - lobby Congress and the President. And...quit griping.

You missed the point KenH. We had a Law and they threw it out. There is no way thgat congress has the guts or the moral forsight to make a law.

Hi stubbornKelly. I think the ruling WILL have an effect on people's attitudes towards pre-marital sex. Please allow me to give you an example of what I mean.

Recently, it was revealed in the news that there has been a HUGE increase among unmarried younger folks engaging in "certain sexual relations" with their peers. When questioned as to why this was so, it was revealed that these young folks felt this type of activity was "okay" (i.e. that it was NOT really sex) as a result of comments that were made concerning this "particular conduct" during the famous "Monica Lewinsky" scandal of a few years ago. So, you see, what happens in reknowned places, and confirmed in the media, DOES become part of the National conscience.

Potentially, this ruling could be "setting the stage" for sending the "national conscience" message that pre-marital sexual relations are "okay" (hey, it's no longer "illegal"). From the Biblical perspective, marriage ALONE between husband and wife is the only place for sexual relations.

You are correct that people will engage in sexual behavior even with prohibitive "laws" in place to stop it. However, under this ruling, the "national mindset" is being set to accept it more readily. THAT is the problem - and I believe it has the potential to create huge grief in an already shaky marital scene. I hope I'm wrong. Time will tell. Thanks. latterrain77

Yet this decision is no guarantee that our rights to oppose this sin are not going to be taken away. In fact, it is probably a harbinger of things to come. While I think your above statement is true, I don't think homosexual activists are so commonly fair minded with those who disagree with them. Their affinity with the "hate speech" issue is chilling.

A recent Canadian court rule that a bill board displaying Bible passages against homosexuality violated their law. If "hate speech" ever becomes a protection for homosexuals, what do you do with those who teach and preach the biblical standard for sexual morality?

I can be glad that privacy is protected but at the same time saddened that such a decision was necessitated by these perverse, sinful activities.

I thought they were "perverts". Now, they're "misdirected"?

Mike, I was asked by the moderator to change it. I looked up the word pervert in the dicitionary and one of the synonyms was "misdirected' so out of a request from the moderator I changed it.

Does this mean that they're no longer perverts?

Be kind, Mike, be kind. Our PERSONAL opinions about the morals of our supreme court justices aside, they are MINISTERS (God's Word for them) even if as corrupt or evil as Nero of old.

"Pervert" is a perjortive term that implies much more than "misdirected". Think that gets the point across for the topic of this debate.

Congress won't as long as their constituents who want them to do so spend their time protesting, griping, and yelling epithets. Of course, that is a lot easier than doing the grunt work of lobbying Congress and working to elect candidates that agree with them.

It doesn't matter what "we" "think" is right or wrong, but what God says is right and wrong. God told us that homosexuality is an abomination! What part of "it is wrong" doesn't this nation understand? Have the Christians not learned from the Old Testament? Should God decide to do to our nation what He did to Sodom and Gomorrah, we will all be in the midst of it! If the homosexual community grows large enough, God will not dechipher the good from the wicked; He will just eliminate the entire nature.

God says that it wrong! God says that it is an abomination!!! Your "belief" does not matter! God was speaking in parables when he told us this! He was straight forward on the subject!

Yes, our God loves us, but he will do again what he done in the past because God was the same then as He is today and will be forever.

As much as I may agree with you, it's not the job of the Supreme Court to decide what God thinks is right or wrong.

I disagree. The Bible tells us that God took His wrath out on Christ on the cross.

KenH, I do agree with part of what you are saying. I have already written the congressmen and the Governor and have spoke with our State Rep already on this matter.

Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee will be leading the sodomite parade in Houston also, so I will get to sy something to her also. With that said, We must still stand up against wickedness. I will do that also.

If God did not intend for us to learn from the OT, we would never have it.

I did not say it matters what God "thinks". It is what HE SAYS!!!

Everyone thinks that they can just go on their merry own ways and live their lives to please themselves. We were not placed on this earth to please ourselves. We were placed on this earth to please God.

God, as our father, has got to be very disappointed in our world as whole. Sure there are pockets of those who are willing to STAND for God tells us right and the LIVE the way God tells us we should live.

I would never stand behind anything that goes against what God has said is sinful. With each step a Christian takes and with each breath a Christian breathes, we need to remember that there is a judgement for us too. The non-believers will also stand before God before they are thrown into the lake of fire. As a Christian, I will do my utmost not to walk off of the Lord's path. The sinners of the world, Christian or non-Christian will pay a price for not obeying what God has told us.

I am here because before I was born, God had a purpose for me. I am not sure what that purpose is just yet. But since I didn't get saved until I was 43, I am sure that I messed up God's original plan. I don't know how much patience God will have sodomites. And, I hope that I am already there with Him when He decides to deal with them.

God created a man to be with a woman. He did not create two men to start the world. He did not create two women to start the world. We think that just because it is 2003, we can just walk away from God's law? How pitiful.

I would love to know right now what God thinks about his creation now. I might not, though, come to think of it. God will not stop dealing with us until it time for the Lord to return and everything is started fresh again. New Heaven and New Earth.

It seems to me that since our country was based on "In God We Trust", we should think twice about the laws we create. By making sodomy legal, are we trusting that God will just turn his head? That too is pitiful. If all that be the case, then in 2003 we are not smarter then back in the days of the Old Testament. Because, we have not learned from their mistakes.

    Joshua,

First off the great "sin" that you will be guilty of when it comes to your congregation is teaching your people that it is ok that "women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones" and its ok that "men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another".

Your other great sin is that you are a teacher, and God holds you even more accountable for teaching others that its ok to sin.

    James 3:1(NIV)
"Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly."

    Romans 1:32(NIV)
"Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them."

    Think about it.

This has gone on for a long time in Houston. I remember when I used to do news at KTRH Radio, then-Mayor Kathy Whitmire actively courted the gay & lesbian vote, and was known to campaign in the bars along lower Westheimer. Got her criticized, but she was elected. Despite being in a conservative state, Houston does tend to embrace its liberal side, and is much more of a ethnically diverse city than it even was back then.

What's interesting is, a lot of people don't realize that Houston has one of the highest gay populations in the U.S., second only to San Francisco. Of course, this is from openly gay people who are willing to admit it to census takers.

Interesting note though, evern with our high gay population, Houston is still somewhat conservative. In the last election, when the Propostion came up to allow same sex partners to collect benefits and insurance from their partner's city job, the measure was stricken down again. I believe this was about the 4th or 5th time it has been brought up for vote and the citizens have struck down. Of course, being that it was a year ago, we will probably see it on the ballot again next year. Why can't they take a hint?

Of course, I think things will be much better once Mayor Lee P. Brown is out and Orlando Sanchez is in. Let out-of-town Brown move to another city now and terrorize their populous. The only good thing I can say about him is he is doing a pretty good job on Downtown revitalization, the light rail system, and road construction. Of course, this all at the cost of his speech lessons, our horrible DNA lab, and deplorable police, fire, and EMS services. Did you know he actually lowered the test standards for the fire department because he felt that not enough minorities were passing the tests? Really. If my house was on fire, I could care less what color the man's skin is, as long as he knows what he's doing. Brown obviously cares more about pleasing the NAACP than he does about the health and well-being of this city.

Anyway...can you tell that I like him?

I'm just glad that I don't live in the city anymore. Of course, the only problem is, what happens in a city that big this close to home will affect me...now, I just can not vote on it. Bummer.

What is horrible is that a lot of Republicans (and probably the majority of Christian Republicans) don't realize the inroads the homosexual community has made into BOTH political parties.

Check this out: From their websites - Links Omitted (They get no free advertising from me!)

Believe me, you only need to scope out the Internet - many Republican elected officials do attend meetings & Log Cabin events but this is not widely reported in the press for some reason.

And I won't even go into my opinion about that Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
